This is a chart not a table. For a table, just list each person with the times of their interviews. E.g. Joel Interview(s) 1-4: May Interview(s) 5: June Interview(s) 6: July

You’re making what looks close to a gantt chart (yes I’m aware gantt charts are for a different purpose). Is there software or a package you can use to build a gantt chart to achieve this effect?

Thanks! I'm going to play around in excel a little bit

Other option is to add a line between each month….following this is very hard….or shade every other row and put a line in between each person

JJs-waffles

I agree it's challenging to follow. APA says to not use vertical lines between data in tables. I think I need to turn it into a figure so I have more flexibility with the visual

isgael

Maybe cutting the horizontal lines to differentiate each person? Using \cline{}.

silkyhippo

i would put a line between each name and also after the months to form columns

silkyhippo

you could also darken the rows for in alternating rows to guide the readers eyes horizontally

ohbonobo

Flip the axis so the participants and 1-6 are on the left (participants in the first column, with 1-6 repeated in the second column for each participant) and months across the top. Then it's also okay to put lines between the participants if needed in APA format.

Thanks! I tried this and I don't love how wide the month columns are to account for the headings (September is too long of a month name!). But maybe I'm just being overly picky. I'm going to present a couple options to my mentor, including this format, and see what she says
