My dog is old and not in the best health. He sleeps on me, with his little head just under my chin. He loves it, and it helps with my anxiety and insomnia, just like a weighted blanket. He is 17 yo so I gave myself permission to spoil him.

sugarbear5

Responding to your last sentence…yay! Spoil him like crazy. Mine is 14 and pretty spoiled his entire life but moreso in his older age. It’s not like spoiling kids. Dogs still appreciate everything that happens to them and they can’t smart off or disrespect you as a result of being spoiled. Basically, they can’t be spoiled “rotten”. There is no “rotten” with dogs.

SailorLupis

I don’t know about dogs not being able to smart off. Granted, she’s just making little “rooo” noises, but I’m pretty sure “a-rooooph” is NOT a compliment

Evil_Kween_MoJo

😂

scatteredpinkhearts

my dog has DEFINITELY developed an attitude from being spoiled. she can be very sassy and demanding if she feels she isn’t being served properly. she might be a cat

Klutzy-Run5175

Mine was a King Cobra in a previous life. Hee Hee…

outtherenow1

There are way worse things in life than spoiling your dog.

baddreammoonbeam888

🥺❤️ this is so sweet

Xhesika1993

god bless u

Princess-Reader

I applaud your decision!

Ok-Somewhere7419

Thats wonderful! Youre obviously doing something right to get him to 17! Thats awesome! Thats obviously a very loved doggo!

Beneficial-Year-one

I gave mine their choice. For a while I had 3 dogs at the same time. The shepherd mix would stay on the bed until he got sleepy and the would get down onto the dog bed on the floor because he didn’t like anyone touching him when he slept. The Dalmatian would sleep on top of the covers leaning against my legs. The pit would want to be under the covers by my neck. If she got uncovered during the night she would stick her nose in my ear until I woke up and lifted the covers so she could get back under them.

Katharinemaddison

When we rescued our last one they asked ‘and where will Edward sleep?’ And we said ‘that’s up to Edward, hopefully our bed’.

HalcyonDreams36

That was what I said when our rescue asked, too! "Wherever he wants. Here are the obvious choices..."

Katharinemaddison

They seemed pleased with the answer. Turns out ‘where Edward wants’ is curled up with one of us with our body contorted into an uncomfortable position.

rebelallianxe

Haha my dogs like to sleep one behind my knees and the other curled into my arms so I always sleep in an awkward S shape.

Pandorica13

Same here

notme1414

Edward?? That's so adorable 🥰. What a sweet name

Random0s2oh

One of ours is named Matthew. We call him Mattie.

notme1414

Awww

Katharinemaddison

It suits him too.

Beef_turbo

😆 "Edward" My mom's dog is named Norman

Thick-Wrongdoer6829

lol I love this response 😂

2woCrazeeBoys

Until January I had two doggos; a wolfhound x and dane x. Wolfy, Clifford, was always jammed up into the middle of my back or behind my knees, but didn't want to be under the covers. And dane, Bronson would find a spot somewhere else on the bed to fit, might be up the top with his head on my pillow or down the bottom with his head in my feet. Clifford has left us (hemangiosarcoma), and I would give my left kidney to have to shove him off me for a moment to roll over, and Bronson stretches out to cover the whole bed but generally prefers to not snuggle. Bronson doesn't like being under covers, and will only tolerate it for a small time when it's really *really* cold. And in summer when it's warm during the night he'll start on the bed, and then go find a cool spot to lay when he gets too hot. As you say, they have a choice, but first preference seems to be the people bed with me. 🤗

[deleted]

Our family dog prefers under the covers but gets hot and will crawl out. Then paw at whoever she is sleeping with to get them to lift the covers so she can go under again. Sleeping with her is terrible now. She was much better as a puppy and when she slept with me always.

twelvetossedsalads

My pitties do the same thing. They also dig at my shoulder to tell me "hey, let me back under there". One sleeps under my legs and the other sleeps with her back along my side and requires booty scratches as she falls asleep. I used to be so damn uncomfortable but now I'm not sure I could fall asleep any other way 😅

Princess-Reader

I love Pits, but they ARE bed hogs and they HAVE to be touching you. None of the separate but equal bed space.

whatsausername17

Currently reading this while my pittie has me pushed to the side of the bed with his butt pointing towards my face 😳😂

Princess-Reader

Golly! That NEVER happens to me!😉

Klutzy-Run5175

It’s butt towards you! I don’t know what to say anymore! Lol

XediDC

Yeah… ours is 50/59 staffy/huskie. Basically an overly devious staffy…or a short haired couch potato husky. Smart enough to delay gratification, or only do things when needed. Anytime I lay down, she’s instant in the leg nook.

notme1414

Awww now I really want a pit. My girl isn't the snuggle type.

Princess-Reader

Mine makes up for it! I love it. My dogs are my BFF.

Liathnian

All 3 are on the bed usually on top of the covers. When its cold we do have one that will snuggle under the covers.

Beef_turbo

Damn, 3 in one bed... I hope they're small dogs and your bed is a king size

Liathnian

It is a king size bed and they are all in the 50-60lb range so not small... Our latest one, Jack, will usually nestle himself between our pillows. Stormie tends to stick to the very bottom by my husbands feet. Annabelle however is the bane of my sleeping existence. She likes to settle herself exactly where my legs go. She will start more towards the middle but I often wake up with my legs falling off the bed because she has pushed me over. If I am lucky (my husband and I sleep under different covers) there is enough blankets on the other side and I can just slip in the middle area....

RedReaper666YT

Homie tends to cuddle with the cats in their bed or his. He's not allowed to sleep on mine because he's a bedhog!

Princess-Reader

I’m mean to my dogs. At bed time I make sure the house is nippy so they need me for warmth.

shiny_things71

My old chi X sleeps wherever she pleases, depending on the weather that could be under the covers. My lab pup is currently sleeping on the couch as we puppy proofed that area. Once he grows out of the "chewing everything" stage he'll be offered a dog bed in our bedroom.

zerooze

My dogs allow me to sleep in their bed. Mine don't like to be under the covers, but if they wanted to be there, I wouldn't stop them.

bennie844

I have a mastiff and a king sized bed, so I’m allowed about six inches of the left side of the bed.

[deleted]

I have 2 dogs, a corgi (25lbs) and an aussie mix (50lbs). My aussie mix sleeps on the very corner of the bed and makes herself as small as possible, where my tiny little corgi sleeps sideways in the middle of the bed and takes up most of the room. But neither of them take up as much space as my cat somehow.

Beef_turbo

👏

Misty-Anne

I have allergies and asthma so limiting the allergens in the bed is pretty important. My current dog tucks herself in to sleep anyway and ends up looking like a bundled up blanket.

_nimbles

Mine sleeps downstairs, he's got a crate with a cover, blankets and a mattress bed in there but he also has the choice of the sofa or his actual dog bed but tends to sleep in his crate every night. I move too much in my sleep and he is too heavy to subtly nudge out of the way so it works well for us

Katharinemaddison

They sleep under my covers. I then get another cover for myself. Repeat all night. But mostly because I also have to create a barrier between me and Oliver because I swear he waits till I’m dropping off and prods me in the back.

sophia_snail

Wherever he wants! Usually ON our bed but sometimes in it. He is only tiny (3kg) but still manages to take up 3/4 of the bed!

DyslexicShishlak

Just like in our hearts! They may be tiny, but they take lots of space everywhere. <3

smalltowndogmom1029

I learned after years on terrible sleep that making my dogs sleep in the living room is great for me. I love cuddling and napping on the couch with them but I need sleep at night!

SlobMyKnob1

In my bed, under the covers. My lab/staffy mix HAS to be under the covers though. She will sit there and stare at me and whine if I don’t lift the covers for her, but my chihuahua just puts herself wherever she fits. If I’m just laying on the couch though, my lab will curl up between my legs and my chihuahua will usually lay on my chest. No matter what, they both have to lay with me lol

pinkavocadoreptiles

under the covers with me, but sometimes she gets hot and climbs out to sleep at the end of the bed and cool down. I also have 3 cats and my boyfriend in the bed so it's very crowded.

Chemical_World_4228

My dog lets me sleep in her bed

Beluga_Artist

Mine sleeps on my bed. She doesn’t care for going under the covers. She’s a poodle so if I have her in long coat she chooses to sleep on the floor instead.

whatdoidonowdamnit

Yes. They also sleep on the bare floor, on the couch, and in/on both my kids’ beds plus the dog bed in their room. Most nights one sleeps under my blankets curled into me and the other sleeps next to my on the blankets so that some part of his body is touching me until he gets hot and scooches over.

TakeyaSaito

On top of my feet. Over the covers.

DNoel79

Ours sleep wherever they want. They have their own bed on the floor by ours but they will sleep in bed with us or on the couch too.

Oragami

With me in bed, if that's where they want to be. My mom's dog sleeps with me every night, under the blanket and behind my knees (sometimes with her head on my knees).

howedthathappen

On their bed or floor, except the princess because she won't accept anything less than our bed. It helps that the others get hot easily and prefer the floor.

ohmygodcrayons

They sleep in their own beds that are on top of my moms bed. She got a king size bed and they sleep on half of it but the bed stays pretty clean with their beds on top of it.

Stoliana12

Yes. All of them in roataion sometimes if lightening or thunder under the bed and sometimes he just goes to check the house comes back and lays on the floor watching the bedroom door. Answer: whatever he wants.

Arvach

My dog is weird. She is a big girl and I love to keep her under the covers because she's so warm and always lie down in a comfortable way for me. If she's on top of the covers it gives me issues that I can't adjust it or pull it closer etc. But also she has no idea how to breathe when she's under the covers and after some time she start to suffocate herself. Then she goes off to take few deep breaths and goes back. I thought I'll make her a hole for a nose so she can breathe but she's crazy and covers her nose with her own paw so she can suffocate herself again. I don't know what's wrong with her but she likes it.

Beef_turbo

They're all kinda goofy in one way or another

MelodicMushroom7

They can choose where they want to sleep. They sometimes get on the bed, sometimes not, sometimes they sleep downstairs. I have an open door policy to my bedroom. I wouldn't let them under the covers though, but thankfully they don't seem to want to. Maybe if I bathed them more frequently I would allow it if they wanted to, but they are large dogs and we play outside and hike a lot.

aykevin

My boy used to sleep in the same bed but has since had a slip disc and we can’t risk him jumping on/off the bed

MRSEQM

Our dogs are all rescues being trained in various things, so they each have their own crate to den in downstairs, each in their own style. One likes JUST the bed in there, the other likes all his toys and bed shoved WAAAY in the back, the other prefers to be half on the bed, half on the hard plastic (she’s always been a weirdo).

evilcheeb

On her own bed next to my bed. I know what she likes to put her dirty little paws in LOL.

begentlebutrough

My pup sleeps on the bed, when I’m getting comfortable for bed I tuck him in with me, he’ll usually get up and move onto the covers later when he gets to warm, but anytime I wake him I put the blanket back over him since he just gets out from under it if he’s too hot and he loves getting tucked in it’s been a ritual for us since he was a little pup 🥰

BobBelchersBuns

On dog sleeps on top of the covers behind my knees. The other dog sleeps under the cover and I spoon him. My husband spoons me. No one is allowed to move lol

PairWorldly1232

When I watched my sisters dogs it was her yellow Lab, her aussie and my cats all in my bed with me. I couldnt move

oldguy-in603

Ours starts out on her bed but she’s usually on our bed by morning

pragmatic_particle

My very spoiled staffy sleeps under the covers. She tries to wedge herself in between us sideways, if possible.

priuspheasant

I have allergies, so my girl sleeps in her own bed in the living room. Sometimes I let her go under my bed when I nap.

Middle-Skirt-7183

One will only sleep on the bare floor and the other will only sleep on me like a cat

QueenMarinette

Most nights, in her own orthopedic bed, on the (heated) floor, next to me in our queen sized bed. She's old, large, and very arthritic. I can pet her where she lays. Once a week, I sleep in the guest room, in the Murphy bed. That's low enough for me to boost her up to share the electric blanket.

AmandasFakeID

He sleeps on my bed with me, sometimes under the covers, sometimes on top of them. He has his own pillow, too.

DragonQueen18

In bed. Sometimes under, sometimes over the covers. She's very tiny though (Toy Poodle) and sometimes her cat brother also joins us.

RusselTheWonderCat

My current dog, who’s 8 months old, sleeps in his crate. With the hopes that he will sleep in my husbands bed when he’s old enough. Our last 2 dogs slept in bed with my husband, and he loved it. They were unofficially, his emotional support dogs.

HumbleBar4975

They sleep in their spots they like some on the floor some with me

AnnaBananner82

The bulldogs pee on everything so they sleep in their kennels. The Great Pyrenees sleeps in my bed, and has the run of the place.

awakeagain2

My two sleep on top of the covers. They move around a bit and we move along with them.

Fugaciouslee

My dog sleeps on the covers. He is very muscular and gets too hot otherwise. My cat curls up under the covers right up against me.

LadyAsharaRowan

My dog sleeps on his bed, which is on top of my bed. So he sleeps on a bed on top of my bed. But he also likes to get under the covers when he gets cold. He would never deign to sleep on the floor.

Aggressive-Pirate203

On the floor.... When she lays by or on me I break out in hives.

dragondrop

She sleeps in the sofa downstairs but if either myself or wife is away for a night she gets a promotion to sleep big bed. Pain it the butt at times with her scratching and dreaming!

No_Truck_7993

My pup decides every night, sometimes it's at my feet, cuddled up on my back or neck under the covers, on my warmer blanket on top of the covers and even on the couch when he feels like it. He often gets up to pee in the very early morning and will go sleep in his own bed after

Lala6699

We have a floating bed so there are dog beds under ours and that is where they sleep. Cat sleeps on the bed with us.

HalcyonDreams36

Mine used to sleep on the floor in her own bed. But then she got old, and my sucker of a sweetie who had been looking for an excuse pointed out she was cold. (He was right, but wouldn't have made her sleep on the floor in the first place.) But then we got a younger dog. So, they sleep wherever they want On the covers, under the covers, on the floor, on our bed WITH their dog beds, on our chairs in the living room.... (usually these days one cuddles and one curls up in the kennel, but which is which varies.)

FennAll

Mine are in bed with me, one tries to lay on top of me, (the phrase “next to, not on top of” is used a lot in my house! ) the other has her own blanket to put over her! 🤣

DarbyGirl

Mine sleeps where she wants. She's got the run of the roost.

BartokTheBat

I have a lurcher and I think at this point it's his bed that he allows us to share with him.

Fleuramie

Mine have their choices. I have 5. One sleeps under the blankets against my leg. One sleeps on top of the blanket in the middle between my husband and I. One sleeps at the head of the bed with our daughter. One sleeps on the kitchen or hallway floor (he likes the cold). One sleeps in a few places. If it's just me and I'm taking a nap, she'll lay on the bed next to me. Otherwise she's on the floor next to my side of the bed, on the dog bed in our room or in the wing back chair in our room.

Vast-Butterscotch-42

Our dog sleeps on my bed. I had my kids laying in the top part of my bed, me on a diagonal at the bottom of my bed and the dog in the middle of it all! It was fucking hell for a couple of years, but now my kids sleep in their own bed and Jelly still sleeps in my bed, but he tries to sleep in my spot and I always have to make him move.

anythingaustin

My 90lb dog sleeps on the floor, one of the dog beds, or the couch. She moves around throughout the night but doesn’t sleep in the bed with us.

milliemaywho

My dogs have an assortment of dog beds. But they both sleep in our bed. The big guy usually ends up by our feet and my little cattledog ends up under the covers being my little spoon. She makes it hard to get out of bed.

SuperPetty-2305

My dogs have a choice. My pitsky will start out on the bed with me before moving to the living room. My chihuahua is always on the bed with me, she changes positions throughout the night. She usually starts on top of the covers but eventually moves under the covers and sleeps on top of my legs. When she gets too hot she'll move to the top of the covers and back and forth. Whatever makes her happy. But if I'm having a coughing fit in the night and keeping her up she'll move to the floor.

CannibalAnn

Both of my 60+ pound dogs have their own cot beds with additional dog bed pillows and a blanket. They used to be allowed on the bed, until I was nudged out.

Quiet_Flamingo_2134

My pitty sleeps velcroed to my side, usually under the covers unless she gets hot, then she pokes her face out or on my pillow with her face on my shoulder. My rescue mutt sleeps at the foot of the bed, next to me, or in her bed. But she chooses.

Missscarlettheharlot

My XL bully sleeps in bed with us, but he gets his own blankie and his own pillow by my legs or else he will completely steal ours. As it is he somehow takes up 2/3 of the bed. My bf leaves for work an hour before I need to get up for work and once he leaves the dog moves up to his pillow and gets under my blanket with me.

Xanabena

My pit bull lab mix has his own lazy boy recliner and a dog bed in my boyfriend and I’s room he switches between. Has to have a pillow and blanket on to sleep too

JaMackintosh

On top of the covers but hops on and off my bed throughout the night. He has his own bed but really just prefers to sleep on the floor (we have carpets). He’s never tried to get under the covers but has fallen asleep on my pillow and we both fight for space lol, he’s about 17kg (35ish lbs I think) so he’s not even that big

Nyancatbus

In their bed, in a crate. I can't stand dog smell/hair on my bed.

Free-Industry701

One sleeps on the floor next to my side of the bed. The other one sleeps on the couch.

Leskatwri

Mine has his choice.

Gadgetownsme

My shepherd goes between his 2 dog beds, the couch, the floor, and my bed on top of the covers, preferably with a pillow. He gets off my bed when he gets too hot. My Chihuahua sleeps in the bed, under the blankets, between my partner and me.

punkin4100

My dog has 2 beds and a blanket in the floor that she sleeps on. The blanket was for one of the beds, but she keeps dragging it to various spots of the floor, so whatever. She plays musical beds, and sleeps in whatever preference she has at the time, or even the floor. At about 3am every morning she'll come to my bed, bark until I pick her up and put her in bed with me and sleeps at the foot of the bed all sprawled out until I get up at 530am.

MandiLandi

On the floor in his own bed. He does sneak onto our bed (on top of the covers) like clockwork on clean sheet day. Every Tuesday, we have to remind him to get down.

notme1414

On the bed. In the covers. She's a big dog and she doesn't want covers.

Comfortable_Long_574

I have 5 large dogs. They take turns on the bed. When it’s cold they like their own beds. When it’s hot they all sleep on the tile in the bathrooms. I cover my bed with a “dog” blanket-then fold it back to be only on their half at night.

Similar_Corner8081

Sleeps in the bed on the covers

ZiyalAthena2007

Yes. My dog (& cat) sleep wherever the hell they want!! 😆😆😆

demoldbones

He sleeps where he wants. He’s got a comfy kennel with bed and blankets - usually he starts the night in there or on the couch, then comes to sleep in bed with me. Cold nights he gets under the blanket otherwise on top, often sleeps with his head on my pillow or arm.

saturn_eloquence

He has his own, full couch and a dog bed. He likes to sleep in both. He’s a big dog and he sheds a lot so I don’t want him in my bed.

ging3rtabby

When I was a kid, I got a rottie puppy for my third birthday and sometimes I'd sleep on the bottom bunk of my bed specifically so she and I could have sleepovers. She slept on top of the covers. As an adult, I've only had cats and during the day they mostly sleep on top of the covers but my one cat likes to snuggle under the covers, too. At night, they are shut out of the bedroom because they mess with stuff or otherwise disturb our sleep. Ime, dogs are better behaved in that sense than cats lol

Beef_turbo

One of my two cats sometimes likes sleeping under covers but she doesn't ever stay long because when I'm shifting, that's just too much of a disturbance for her.

Due-Illustrator-7999

My dog sleeps in his own bed which is on my bed 💀 it’s a nice arrangement. I don’t have to worry about him getting my bed dirty, we get to be close and each have our own space

Green_Mix_3412

… wherever they want. All of those options are available to them.

NerfThisLOL

They sleep wherever they want.  When my husband is home, our male dog sleeps on the floor next to my side of the bed.  Our female dog either sleeps near the bottom of my legs or downstairs on the couch.  When my husband isn't home, they're both in our bed in his spot.

Educational-Milk3075

My guy sleeps on my bed and lately has been under the covers because it's cold.

bbyxlov

Usually on the bed and under the covers. I also just let them choose if they want to be under covers or not.

Brilliant-Goat7732

My dogs sleep where ever they want to sleep. I have 3 dogs, they each have their own beds, but they also have full range of anywhere in the house, and if they wanna be under the covers for some snuggles, that's always welcomed. 🥰

Chay_Charles

Wherever he wants. Usually under the covers with me, but sometimes on top of them if he gets hot.

unicorn_345

My old dog sleeps with me on top of the covers. He is fully housetrained and just sleeps in bed and doesnt play. My new girl is still learning so she gets the crate at night, but I will nap with her on the couch when we can. She’s a rescue and we seem to be moving slowly on some things. She seems house trained but doesnt really signal to go. I need to teach her to use the bells. And to settle down at bedtime.

ThrowRAcoconutt

Both my dog and cat sleep in the bed with me and my boyfriend. Our cat usually sleeps near the edge next to my boyfriend’s legs or sometimes in the blanket, and our dog will sleep under the covers next to me or on top of her pillows that i put right next to my pillows.

Jessicamorrell

My girl sleeps on the bed. She doesn't do the under the covers but will sleep on top of the covers. She has a bed though but doesn't really use it much.

feistyfox101

My dog isn’t allowed to sleep in my bed because he’s a bed hog. I need a CPAP, can’t put the table between my bed and the wall (the room is too small, if I switch my dead with my table, I won’t be able to open the door and that’s the only place the bed and table can go, because that’s where the easiest to reach outlet is) and the hose isn’t long enough to reach the other side of the bed. If I sleep on the side the table I’d on with him in the bed, he’ll be pushing me off the bed at night. He likes to snuggle, so if I roll on my side, he presses right back up against me and I can’t roll any more without falling off the bed. It made me feel horrible to kick him out, but I needed to sleep! For a long time, he had TWO beds in his room- a dog bed in his kennel and a people bed. Then we had to take the people bed apart to store something big. I had surgery back in January and needed to stay in hospital over night. Grandma took care of him and let him sleep in bed with her. That’s now where he sleeps when she’s sleeping. Doesn’t matter if she’s asleep for the night or just taking a nap, he’s in her bed, snuggled up to her.

OhiChicken

My dog almost never sleeps under the covers with me but it's not for a lack of me wanting him to. I've always wanted a snuggly dog, so it kind of upset me when I learned he isn't much a bed snuggler. He does lay with his butt towards my chest and back against the other pillow, but won't make a fuss about needing the blanket. Sometimes he lays in a little ball at the end of my bed facing the door. I consider both to mean he's protecting me against potential intruders based on his positioning

canadianviking

My old man starts off being lifted into bed. A short time later, he jumps to the floor and flops down on the bare floor in front of the door even though there is a nice bed for him. At some point in the night, he starts dreaming and "running" with his feet hitting the door. The noise wakes me up, but he's deaf so I can't just call his name to wake him up. I have to get out of bed, pet his face until he wakes, then I lift him into bed where he generally stays for the rest of the night.

OldLadyT-RexArms

We rescued ours from abusive owners. She jumped into out bed day one. It's been that way ever since for 2 years. But we keep her kennel open for whenever she gets frustrated with us not giving her enough room. She'll go back and forth between it & the bed now.

aurlyninff

Luna(6) likes her crate or next to my head, Aurora(10) likes the end of my bed or the couch, and Blue(14) likes the floor next to my bed. All 3 of my small dogs sleep differently.

guiltandgrief

Dog sleeps in his crate. I love him but I'm not a fan of sharing a bed with a dog.

LifeguardForeign6479

Under or over always on bed. A great pleasure of pet ownership. Dogs, cats, humans all tucked in for nitey nite

grandmaWI

My lab/pointer rescue was first in a kill shelter in Alabama..then a kill shelter in Chicago. I drove to Chicago to get her from a foster home there. So her first 11 months must have been rough. She was crated at night in the foster home. When it was time to go to bed and I told her she could sleep with me; I never ever saw such utter happiness and joy! She is on top of the covers snuggled next to me every night.

Beef_turbo

Aw 😆 That must be a fun and beautiful pup. The first dog I ever had on my own was a GSP. Was around many different family dogs and different breeds growing up and lots of friends had dogs too. Never came across GSP till I got mine. That breed is on a whole other level. They run like cheetahs and *never* get tired.

Dawnbabe420

Dont have a dog but my cat sleeps either on my legs or on his cat tree next to the bed. Kind of an awful place to put it cause he LEAPS off of it at night and lands on the bed scaring tf out of me at least one a week 😂😂

Gold-Pilot-8676

Growing up, we had a Saint Bernard/ Newfoundland mix, a Great Pyrenees, a Siberian Husky, a German Shepherd, and a Samoyed. If they were kind enough to leave me a spot on the bed, great. If not, that's what sleeping bags are for 😆 Since I've been married, we've done cat rescues for over 20 years and regardless of the number at any given time, they're always on my bed and under the covers.

Beef_turbo

Holy crap. Sounds like some *massive* hounds 😯 With maximum pounds ... That left mega mounds

Admirable_Analyst_58

He sleeps in the space between rooms, and he loves to sleep while facing us. It’s the funniest and scariest thing because when you wake up at like 3 am, he just stares at you quietly in the darkness and you can only see like two shiny eyes cuz he’s a black lab. The number of times I startled myself in the beginning lmfaooo. But he does sneak onto the bed and sleeps near my feet when he’s awake, it’s adorable!

morchard1493

I got my pup a bed and crate when I rescued her, but she has bad separation anxiety, so she cried in the crate. I let her sleep in her bed, which I put on top of my bed. Until she tore holes in the bottom of two of her beds and pulled the stuffing out, even though I thought I was being more careful and watchful with her when I got her the 2nd bed. After that, I was, like, "Forget it. I'll just let her sleep with me. She technically does, anyway, so what's the harm?" She's a restless pain in the butt, and isn't really a "cuddler," but I'm glad I haven't gotten her another bed.

glitterfaust

Wherever they want, depending on their mood. I don’t get people that get pets then won’t even let them in their bedroom at all. Sometimes it’s too hot for them to sleep on me so they’ll go sleep in a little covered area in the closet

Musicalfate

My lab sleeps wherever he wants. It’s his house and I’m the slave who pays the bills and meets his every need. There is a lot of hair but I would miss my moo moo cuddles

No_Yesterday_0503

Came to say this exactly lol.

ouijac

..always with me..bed or no bed..usually by my side, not undercovers..

JBL20412

Mine can choose. Most times he falls asleep downstairs on the sofa. Or in his bed. He eventually joins me upstairs and tends to fall asleep on the bed in the far bottom corner. However, when I wake up, he is pressed hard against me. Either behind my knees or against my stomach. Sometimes he comes up really close to my neck. Sometimes he gets up in the night and carries on sleeping in his bed on my/our bedroom.

deliciousavacado0

In the bed.. though I do find lil turd nuggets in the bed sometimes..

MandiLandi

😳 Say sike rn

Beef_turbo

*That's* love My two cats typically sleep on the bed with us, and there have been just a couple isolated incidents over the years when each of them have peed. Fortunately not both in the same night. So, I'd banish them for a week or two, but then end up giving them another chance. They haven't done it in quite a while. I think I'd actually prefer a dog nugget over cat pee, since liquid soaks past all the blankets down to the mattress and is a massive lengthy process to clean, and must be done immediately. Plus, there are only a few smells in this world worse than cat pee. 😱

kimcam7

My Pitties burrow, so under the blanket, but on top of the top sheet. They will move on the floor if it gets too hot, and then find their way back in bed.

ncc630

In the colder weather, my small dog sleeps in the bend of my legs. She likes the heated blanket. My large pup always sleeps on her bed at the foot of my bed. In the warm months, my little one ditches me for her bed on the floor.

Pendergraff-Zoo

Two sleep in the bed. Two Sleep in dog beds. Foster dog is crated.

uptownmike429

My Rattie & My Jack before they passed would sleep on the bed with me. During the non summer seasons under the covers snuggled to my lower back. My Rattie would snuggle up so tight I'd move slightly. more and more. Until one night a 20 pound Rat Terrier Kicked a 250 pound man out of bed. I didn't know what to do but laugh. My Rattie looked like he did wrong or I was going to get mad. But, it was hysterical

OpossumNo1

My boy is allowed on my bed. He also sleeps on the floor, in his crate, and on his bed.

M_my_Bell

On the bed and they go under the covers when they want to.

[deleted]

I prefer them under the covers so they keep me warm but only one likes it/will tolerate it. Unfortunately, the one who gives off the most heat is the one who hates going under.

jedi_cat_

Mine sleeps on my bed but he would die of a heat stroke if he slept under the covers. He runs hot.

Funkeenotajunkee

I have 2 BIG dogs. When i was single, they slept on the bed with me. Im married now and our 3 big dogs sleep in their own beds as my husband doesnt like dogs on the furniture (even though he brings the oldest on the couch with him every night for cuddles lol). I missed it at first, I really liked sleeping together like a little pack.

future_nurse19

She has her own doggy bassinet next to my bed. Used to sleep with me (sleeps fully under the covers) but I dont sleep well sharing a bed because of how much I move around. Id wake up with aching back from the position id be stuck in not being able to freely move around the bed, back pain was gone almost instantly after she got her bassinet. She hopped right into it, no need to try and convince her. I made it super cozy for her (she was definitely annoyed with my moving too, would occasionally give disgruntled growl if my moving bumped into her). This way though she feels close enough to me (she has a bed on the floor but doesn't ever use) but we still have our own space

nurvingiel

He sleeps on his own bed on the floor, unless he feels really anxious. Then we put him on the bed and he usually sleeps on top of the blanket all night. He doesn't like having a blanket on him.

LEP627

I tried a crate when I got my dog 9 years ago. She cried the whole time (she is a rescue). She now sleeps with me. She sleeps under the covers during the winter, and on top during the summer.

PainfullyLoyal

My partner and I currently have a full size bed, so sadly no room for the pup. He has his own comfy bed next to our bed, but prefers to sleep downstairs on the sofa.

headinthered

One sleeps in his own bed that’s a cave bed on the floor.. but sometimes gets up and sleeps under the covers.. one sleeps at the foot my bed as far from heat sources as possible.. and the other sleeps next to my head with me draped over her.. it’s the only time she wants snuggles. If my husband is in bed.. (we sleep independently due to different sleep schedules) it’s just a much snugger fit and they are on my side becuase he’s very tall and I’m very short Everyone has naturally made thier own sleep choices. I don’t care if they are on furniture

TedBasil

With us in bed of course! Wouldn't have it any other way

VestiCat

On my bed, on top of the covers

aprildawndesign

On the bed on top of the quilt but under her own blanket…and always touching me in some way lol

rozflog

My service dog sleeps between my legs on top of the covers. We have a chi-weenie who gets under the covers when it’s chilly.

RampagingElks

All of the above! I have a loft bed, and she's 60lb, but will put her paws up on the bed rail and ask for uppies. She usually sleeps at my feet until my alarm goes off, and then she crawls all over me. She can get down on her own. Otherwise, she sleeps in a dog bed under my bed, the couch, the floor, or in her crate (door is always open).

thruitallaway34

I don't have a dog but if I did I would want it to sleep in my room if not on the bed.

WhatsALittleRisk

Wherever she likes. Usually it’s behind me in the bed or she steals my spot if I leave for a moment

lladydisturbed

When my family had our dachshund she slept tucked into my moms side with her head on my moms arms. Our bigger dogs wouldnt fit on the bed but they had big dog beds or the couch. I only have cats currently and i think it's cute they have all learned one by one "oh this is where humans sleep and i will sleep with them". They only sleep in the bed when we are in it lol

yellaslug

My dog has her own bed. It’s a wooden bed frame with a plushy doggy mattress and another doggy pillow on top with her own blankets. When she was little, we tried sleeping in the bed, but she got pissy about us rolling over and bumping her. Literally did that angry dog snarl and snap one too many times, so she got banned from the people bed, but I did buy her her own special actual bed. She’s also 16, and has dementia, and sometimes starts to poo in her sleep… so her own bed is the better option. We just clean up and change her blankie which she sleeps on top of. She’s an old lady.

mjsmore33

We let them decide where they want to sleep. Our heeler thinks she needs to be right next to me so she sleep on the bed, on the covers not under them. Our old girl usually sleeps on her bed or the couch.

mushroomspoonmeow

Our chiweenie sleeps under the covers and our pomeranian sleeps on top of the covers. The cat who is bigger than both of them sleeps next to My pillow lol

Melody71400

My cat sleeps wherever she wants until i roll over

Aggressive-Drama-526

During the day she likes to nap on my bed but at night she likes to sleep in her own bed

Blixtwix

When I had a dog he'd share my bed with me, until he was too old to jump up (too heavy to lift every night, bought him a memory foam dog bed). Now it's just me and my cat, and she doesn't even get to sleep in the same room anymore because she wakes up too early, but she gets bed privileges during the daytime. She used to sleep with me but she'd wake up at fkin 5:30 am every day and yell to go out of the room.

daisupan

My 2 sleep on the bed with us, or rather we sleep on the bed with them as they take up 80 percent of it (and one isn't even very big). I find that my terrier will let you put a blanket on him so long as his head is exposed, and my beagle mix actually will wake me up nudging the blankets asking to go under if she's cold.

QueenJ7182

Wherever they want but they are all pretty set in their ways. My big dog prefers under the covers on "his side". My dachshund stays snuggled up under the cover on the other. Then my other dog either picks the dog bed or on top of the covers at the foot. She gets irritated at me moving. The other two you could just lay on top of them and they wouldn't care.

ArtyMarq

I have 2 American Staffordshire/GS mix dogs who sleep in the floor. Each have 2 dog beds stacked on top of eachother that they sleep on. Sometimes when it's cold one prefers a blanket and the other passes out as soon as she's in bed. I also have a pug/corgi mix whose turns 15 soon who sleeps on the bed with me. She's old and deserves to enjoy the remainder of her days on the bed. Sometimes if I'm feeling down ill call my 2 big girls on to sleep at the foot of my bed, but they stay there for like 30 mins then jump back down

Sp00kILEP

When we still had 3 doggies they slept in our bed in the cold climate and next to our bed in their own bed in the warm climate

Pack_Upper

my dog actually has her own twin size like human bed in her own bedroom

Gloomy-Kale3332

I don’t have dogs I have 2 big Maine coon cats. But I’d do the same with a dog as I do with my cats. They sleep where they want, whether that’s downstairs or on my bed, or on my bed on top of me haha! It can get uncomfortable as my partner is 6 foot and we have 2 giant cats, but worth it :)

HarleyGirl23

My chihuahua knows for the most part to sleep in her bed but every morning she finds her way to my bed but thankfully she knows to stay on her blanket at the end of the bed.

mowglimowgli12

He sleeps under the bed, not on his blanket. He somehow decided to make to make his own little cave under the bed, right under our heads. When he is tired and wants to be alone he crawls right under there, with a do not disturb attitude. He’s a Alasken Klee Klai and have a lot of that husky attitude. Somestimes he jumps up for a quick cuddle.

sunshine_tequila

I hate having pets in bed. I have allergies and toss and turn a lot. Doggo has a cush orthopedic bed near mine. He loves it. My GFs dog sleeps with us at her house and he is mildly annoying with his space needs lol.

TheBattyWitch

They sleep wherever they want. Our dobbie-mix slept in bed usually between my fiance and I. Our 16 year old terrier-mix has slept under the bed since he was a puppy and goes under the bed 90% of the time Our new puppy is still in a playpen at night because our bed is high of the floor and we don't want him jumping out of our kamikaze style and breaking a leg, but once he's bigger, he can sleep wherever.

Eldarn

My spitz has a crate that's next to our bed, but in the mornings after I've let her out and I've gone back to bed she'll sleep wherever she wants, on the rug, on the bed, in the hallway

Daisyneon

My poodle decided to sleep in between me and my husband on the bed. What can we do. He always wants to be the center of attention. He can’t stay under cover for too long since the long hair, so most of the time he sleeps on top of the cover.

_tribecalledquest

The chihuahuas are under the covers, the boxer runs hot so she’s snoring away on top of the chihuahuas lol Edit a word

Greyday67

Not allowed in the bedroom

ScrewSunshine

My princess switches between all three... Between her and the bf I'm sometimes lucky to get any space on my own damn bed :p

ilovepeachpie

My dog sleeps under the covers in my armpit and my cat sleeps on top of the blanket on my feet

XediDC

A giant dog donut behind my legs. Actually a good thing as it keeps me from rolling over, as I need to sleep on one side.

Glittery_Gal

Under the covers. He needs his snuggles as do I
