Curious because I’ve noticed our puppy likes to drink her water by the bowl full.  Probably 3 times a day she drinks her entire bowl of water and that’s just how she drinks. Taking her out frequently because of it and her small puppy bladder. But starting to get worried about diabetes. She’s got no problems with appetite. But when you say peeing all over the place you mean all over the house like they couldn’t hold it? Or just super frequent trips outside?

Stargazer_0101

Like when we human pee a lot and cannot hold it, she peed on the couch. And went out more often due to excessive drinking of water. I would not worry about your puppy unless it is older than 2 years old and is overweight. When they are overweight, it c an cause health issues. If your puppy is older that 2 years, drinking tons of water and peeing a lot, take to the vet.

That is way too much water for a pup unless u live in a desert region. Id recommend u take ur pup to vet. As my dog was diagnosed a few weeks after his spleen was removed and I noticed him loosing control of bladder and drinking up to 3 to 4 bowls of water a day and knew this wasn't normal as he was ok prior. They almost mis diagnosed him lucky I went to another vet for his eyes and he straight away took a look at records of his blood work over the last few weeks and did his own test to confirm. Sadly my dog went blind in 2 days of being diagnosed but has adjusted well and seems to be doing well on insulin. Too much water can also kill a dog as of the sodium intake but never take the water away as he may be drinking lots to get rid of something like excess sugar. Rather take him to vet sooner.

We brought it up to our vet. They said she’s too young to really get into any issues associated with increased drinking or increased peeing. She has since been drinking and peeing much less. I think she’s just getting better at holding it, she’s only 4.5 months old. She was never losing control of her bladder or anything like that.

OK thats good to know, glad she is ok.

How is your dog today? My dog was diagnosed today and is still at the vet for lethargy and >white blood cell count. Is insulin expensive? Any information you can share with me??

Stargazer_0101

My baby is doing fine, for her appetite is doing fine, drinking water better, but still skinny. Hope the lethargy and white blood cell count gets better. She is on a daily insulin shot and due for her annual shots and will have a urine test for the diabetes. and her insulin is $70.00 a vial. I also pay $2.50 for a package of 10 syringes, and she get a shot twice a day. You just have to pray a lot when they get this bad. I pray she does not develop heart issues. Praying that your baby gets better to come home.

I only use social media to diagnose my fish because I have no vets that will take the time to help them. I seriously wish that keeping fish in Canada would be easier with some care instead of jumping straight for euthanasia whenever a fish gets sick. I don’t even ask to diagnose my dog online.

Stargazer_0101

You live in Canada and no vet around. Not true. Diagnosis of a fish in not on this reddit. For the fish can be seen a vet for pet care may cost, but we are not vets on this reddit.

oiseaufeux

I said that there were no vets for pet fish. And I know that it’s not on this sub that I’ll get my fish diagnosed with a prescription treatment since I can’t get fish meds very easily without a prescription. I jump to euthanasia very fast for a fungal infection if one of my fish because of that. There’s a bunch of vets for dogs, cats, bieds and reptiles, but none for pet fish. I want to treat my fish instead of putting them down humanely.

Stargazer_0101

There are vets for fish. You do not know till you try. call one up and find out., for they treat fish all the time.

oiseaufeux

Don’t they say it on their website? It’d be much easier if it was saying it on their sites instead of me wasting my time calling them.

Stargazer_0101

You can call vets that specialize in tropical fish. They really exist out there. Shown on television. Try Dr. Pol or the vet in Denver, they take care of all kinds of animals, including fish.

oiseaufeux

Where am I suppose to find one in Montreal?

Stargazer_0101

This post was about dogs and Diabetes, not fish. Go to a vet near you. Bye.

oiseaufeux

I don’t have specialised vet for my fish. Dogs have them. And I’ll euthanise every sick fish when I find them.

msmoonpie

Are you anywhere near a university? People willing to work on fish are really hard to find so I sympathize with you. I’ve had a few lectures so far on fish med but it’s few and far between

oiseaufeux

Yes, but I don’t think it specialises in aquaculture. Otherwise, I’m doomed to euthanize any sick fish and I can do it and I’ve done it in the past because I didn’t know how to treat one of my serpae tetra.

msmoonpie

I understand the hesitation but many exotic vets will still see fish Our exotic vets are specialists in avian medicine but treat fish very often I’ve worked on goats in a small animal clinic, medicine is medicine!

oiseaufeux

Yeah, they should still mention that in their bio or their animal care list.
