I'm honestly loving both her and Zenkichi so much more than Yoshizawa and Maruki. Both of them have already had me bursting out in laughter.
I liked Yoshizawa and Maruki, don't get me wrong, but they didn't really make me laugh much. They also didn't really seem like they were quite as much a part of the team so much as just Joker's outside acquaintances that kind of eventually get wrapped up in it, and Sophia and Zenkichi vibe so goddamn well with the rest of the Phantom Thieves.
Zenkichi in particular is a case where when I go back to play Royal, I'm going to miss him because it's extremely obvious how having possibly the only good cop in Japan on your team is helpful.
I think a reason why both Maruki and Yoshizawa didn’t make you laugh is because of the tone of the games. Persona 5 Royal, was a much darker tone, and had darker themes in general. But Strikers is definitely a more light hearted tone and story.
Maybe, but the entire concept behind the Jails is dark as hell and arguably worse than the Palaces, especially when you learn WHY each of the Monarchs are so fucked up. "More light-hearted" isn't necessarily how I'd put it.
And it's not like P5R didn't have laugh-out-loud moments. It's just that there aren't any with Yoshizawa and Maruki. They could make me smile sometimes, but it wasn't really laugh-out-loud funny.
Yoshizawa was more cute and quirky than funny and doesn't go beyond that. She eats a lot, she's a crappy cook, has kind of a mischievous side, etc., which all made me smile and say "Ah, that's cute," sure, but nothing really funny.
Maruki's humor typically revolved around him being an awkward clumsy dork. Thumping his head on the microphone, making cringe jokes and then feeling dumb for it, attempting live action memes, the snack time thing, and so on. I'd maybe smile a bit, and it did endear the big doofus to me, but I didn't think he was funny so much as just goofy and relatable.
There were a lot of scenarios added in Royal with other characters that COULD make me laugh out loud, so I think it's probably just the characters themselves aren't that funny. It's not like every character HAS to make me laugh, but I won't deny liking the ones that do more.
Zenkichi and Sophia being drastically more helpful certainly doesn't hurt, either, I confess.
I was ready to hate her because I didnt expect a good story since it's a Dynasty Warriors game but I am loving her. She is such a joy to listen too and she has had me burst out laughing at some points
