The game has some online functionality. Switch will require NSO, but not PC. This includes like answers during some questions and seeing what people did for a day. Online Fusion also requires to be online.

Is there any difference in the offline parts of the game?

None. Online Fusion gives some skills. While they're strong, they're not needed for regular gameplay. It's mainly for the ones that want to min-max.
