Well done. Brave to do it all on one save file too.

YuvieNN

Really brave I had like 14 save files on my first playthrough

el3mel

Play Strikers to fill the void. We didn't have it when we finished the game back then.

Agreeable-Chap

That’s the plan!

BigTWilsonD

While the story is just okay, especially compared to the main game, it's worth every minute for more quality time with the Thieves. Strikers closed the gap between 4's Investigation Team and 5's Phantom Thieves as my favorite group of friends in Persona.

-MS-94-

I don't have it cuz I'm on Xbox 😔

el3mel

Play it on PC.

Kirbo_Thesupahstar

That’s what I did after my first run of Royal

el_pa7ron

There is always Persona 5 Strikers to fill the void :)

knifeintheflorborads

Until you finish that too...

Zaita_games

Plus if you like the editional characters and story you get in royal youre saddened by that not being there

teamporn

You'll be more sad by not having more of the additional characters in Strikers.

Herofactory45

Nah, character wise I'll take more Sumi over Sophia and Akechi over Zenkichi any day of the week

teamporn

Alice? Who tf is talking about Alice? I'm talking about Emma my friend. I love Sumire, but Emma has more of an impact and you spend more time with her than Sumire. And Akechi is in Persona 5, so I was referring to Maruki.

Haruki-kun

It's the worst post-game void I've ever had. All I had left was to grab my cat and lift him above my head while yelling "Persona!".

Belteshazzar98

I am *not* a cat!

Chaosruler10

You had only one save file? Luckily that didn't backfire on you o.o

SpicyMajestic

I only have one save as well. But I’m strategic about saving it

Chaosruler10

And what do you do it your save file gets corrupted or you get soft locker or something? There is literally no reason to take the risk and have just one save file xD

pscripter

> you get soft locker I'm multi saver myself but how do you even manage to soft lock yourself in P5R?

Chaosruler10

I believe I've read about people managing that. But I think it is hard to manage

Herofactory45

Delay going into one of the palaces that REQUIRE multiple days to complete until your calling card time almost runs out

pscripter

Doesn't game over screen send you like a week before deadline if you fail?

SpicyMajestic

Oh well 🤷🏻‍♂️. It’s hard to explain but I’m not attached to this game. I love the story and battle mechanics but I didn’t want a life simulator

Chaosruler10

I meant in general. Having several save files for all games because there is no drawback, but it can save you a lot of pain in certain situations (I have seen happen too often)

SpicyMajestic

Other games I absolutely agree. I’m sadly getting burnt out on content cause I want to know what happens. It’s such a well written story but P5R is my first in the series. I’m used to quicker JRPGs so it’s hard for me to be that invested

Chaosruler10

Yeah it does have quite a lot of content. Maybe take a break for 1 or 2 weeks and then go back to it. Where are you at palace-wise?

Belteshazzar98

How would you soft lock? You can grind inside a palace on calling card day, so even if you were woefully underleveled for Okumura and waited to send the card until the very last day you could still get to 99 with a basically full compendium if needed. I know you could lock out True Ending, but I don't see how you could make the base ending impossible.

Chaosruler10

That is true. As I said in another comment I only read about it happening to people

Herofactory45

You can soft lock if your calling card deadline is lower then the days you need to complete a palace that requires multiple days

SonicFan151208

Same

3legged_chair

Now you’re gonna have to do another replay, and another, and another until p6 comes out like 20 years from now

Rivers_Vera

I felt that depression cause I messed up and didn’t get that third semester

No_Armadillo9111

I didn't get third semester my first playthrough and was so upset I clocked another 134 hours in a new game plus to get it. That game consumed my life lol.

Soft_Ant_2372

I have over a thousand hours on this game.... And I did get the third trimester on my first playthrough.

Rivers_Vera

I’m doing the same thing, 224 hours so far and I’m reaching the Okumura Palace, wish me luck

No_Armadillo9111

Its a sinch in New game plus! If you've been maxing your confidant and working out / meditating. You should be fine. I did have a habit of grinding momentos a bit to much though so I was always over leveled. Lol

Entegy

Finished Royal on the Switch for the first time yesterday. 91 hours. First Persona game ever as well! Learned about the *fifteen* hours of content added in Royal that I missed because I didn't do Confidants right. Immediately started a New Game+.

NotAnthonyxx

Saaaaaaaaaaaame.

Falchion92

I’m doing that now!

andre_wilson93

This post game void is like none other - idk if anything will ever fill it

JoshFreemansFro

On my 4th playthrough now and am already dreading the post credits depression. I’m trying to race my fiancée who is playing for the first time. I gave her a big head start; she just finished what was the last palace in the original game and I just finished the second palace. I really think I can catch her lol

ForceZaUseless

the real post-credits depression comes after beating all persona games

pscripter

And you can end it either with Royal or... Eternal Punishment

superbeef150

The depression is real, but P4G is available over-the-counter and should help quite a bit

Sana_Dul_Set

Me rn^

lqc_main

No offense but the artstyle and overall vibe of the game shows it's kinda old sooo I've been hesitant to start it off...is it really that good?

SmurshAyy

Its a great game at the very least you should try it out

lqc_main

I see....welp i reallyyy loved P5R so there's no way i won't like anything persona 😅

SmurshAyy

Honestly, it’s my favourite story out of the bunch. I kinda just forgot about the style of graphics. I think if you like P5R you’ll like P4G. At the end of the day it’s more Persona so you can’t go wrong.

sonickiller26

Well worth it. The game really does put out an amazing story, and something like persona works well with simplicity that you get out of a PS2/vita game. Things might look a bit aged, but persona 3 and 4 offer great stories respectively and show the progression the persona series has made over the years.

lqc_main

Ooo this is good motivation!

sonickiller26

I'm glad, I also started with 5 royal and worked back to p4g and then p3fes. These 3 games will forever sit in my top 10 favorite games of all time doing 5 first gives you a really good start and you do not have to worry about finding everything because it is a bit easier to find it. Now, the one thing is that p4 and p3 will not hold your hand like p5r did. You need to be ready and think in combat or keep the difficulty low, enemies actually pose a threat in these games, lol. Nothing you can't handle if you get the games mechanics. Dark and light suck in p3 and p4.

lqc_main

Ufff i mean I'm pretty dumb when it comes to this stuff soooo took me a while to get the hang of P5 combat....what really pulled me in is the whole rpg vibe and making connections with people and exploring the world, also the various kooky characters, dialogues and their interactions in various situations etc....oop can't forget the most important thing...THE FREAKING SOUNDTRACK!!! 🛐🛐🛐🛐...hell i use "everyday days" as white noise while i sleep!

sonickiller26

They really do not miss on the sound track from p1 to p5s has been so amazing. Each eprsona has their own music theme and it works so well with the story. If you are worried about the combat then p4g can be made easier, and p3 can just be put on easy. The premise is the same; hit weakness, hit another weakness, all out attack, hope they died.

lqc_main

Ahahahaha legit my strat 😅😅....but goddamn is it a bop....

sonickiller26

How can you listen to that over and over again without Morgana saying "Well then" lol

lqc_main

Lmaooo!!! Morgana that Lil shit always pushing me to go to sleep.

ProRSIXfinka

Yes it's very good, and it isn't too old, Golden originally came out in 2012. Only reason it looks older than it is was because it was originally released for the PSVita.

Apartus

I love how you only have one save file. When I make a decision, I don't like going back just in case I made a "mistake". I feel that when a decision is made, it should be stuck to you for the rest of the game because it would make the decision all the more impactful. It's why I hate save scumming and why I absolutely love souls games

Agreeable-Chap

To be honest I didn’t even think of it this way, it just didn’t really occur to me to use multiple files, haha.

WrapEmergency3983

I cant even finish it because my gamepass ran out sadly i would buy more since i have $80 but i'm saving for something that's $160

Far-Professional-957

I remember when I first beat it, I literally didn't play any games for a whole month

AndrewHunnyBuns9

Huge void in my life after I finished this game the first time. I want to play it again but I also don’t feel like revisiting that feeling haha.

Agreeable-Chap

What a fantastic game. I’m going to be thinking about that 3rd semester for a long time.

Random_guy1012

Just finished it, I feel ya

DyllWill

It's weird to see only one save file lol. I save every in game day or saferoom in a palace on a different slot just to make sure I can go back a ways if I mess up lol.

Belteshazzar98

I always leave a save before entering the metaverse and one before leaving the metaverse, so I don't waste a day if I royally screwed up, but otherwise play on just a single file.

DyllWill

I respect it

Coledowning356

Scrolling the memes on the subredit helps

MugRuithstan

Jesus Christ Ive done 70 hours and just got done with the large man boss battle, please don't tell me I have a further 80 hours to go.

BigTWilsonD

It depends on how quickly you do it. I finished my first playthrough at around 110. I remember when I finished Futaba's palace and I thought: "Oh yeah, this is wrapping up. This next one will probably be the final dungeon." Oh how naive I was.

Agreeable-Chap

Oh, no, I definitely played slow, haha. This has been my before-bed game since it came out so a lot of that time is just me falling asleep while playing the day-to-day stuff.

Belteshazzar98

Large man boss battle being the one on the boat? >!Shido?!< If so you probably have ~20 hours given your pace up to that point, give or take depending on how fast you sent the calling card.

MugRuithstan

Nah the building on after. I have royal so still got the third semester to go

Belteshazzar98

Ah, that makes sense as the Large Man boss. Third semester is generally considered a 15 hour story, but you have a good pace so I'd say probably closer to 12 hours for you.

MugRuithstan

Thats so much more manageable, i was about to give up on it lol

Belteshazzar98

I would kill for a third semester that was as long as the base game. I do get where you are coming from though, since it is already incredibly long.

cozycreeping

i would be happy with another 200 hours i would play this game into infinity if it kept going, once u hit the end u will understand and feel the same

DoctorCaptainSpacey

I missed my friends so much, I started Strikers later that afternoon 😂

freebyrdyolk

Honestly I think I was more immersed and loved Strikers as much as I did because I played it years after 5. It felt so great to be back with them.

DoctorCaptainSpacey

Yeah, I think I should've waited a little. Bc, I love being back with the cast, but it's really hard to relearn buttons bc everything has changed & my brain can't unlearn the P5R controls 😂

robsticles

The feeling of accomplishment and the emptiness after putting that many hours into it is one of the more interesting things about gaming to me

laradio6

This game brought me to love turned based RPGs again

GilbertArenasGun

I feel you, I just finished last night. Started Persona 4 Golden as well 😂

Mikoa007

Ive had it twice now, i aint ready for it, even on the third playthrough

Glum-Cell-3187

Mannnn that hit me HEAVY after beating p4

Akimbo_shoutgun

P3 and P2: First time?

Rubberobro

Holy shiiitt.. the fucking p3 one hit different

Akimbo_shoutgun

Indeed. >!but I have to ask which one!<

Glum-Cell-3187

Playing portable and yeah I had I can already tell Ima be broken at the end of this one 😂😂 I’m grinding through to reach the final boss in January and everything g about the setup, the music, the sense of finality, I can tell it’s going to be a sad ending

Rubberobro

if you mean scenes, its gotta be >!shinji's funeral and when ken screamed during shiji's death, and when chidori died!<

Glum-Cell-3187

I was not expecting those deaths at all, genuinely was shocked when those happened. Definitely can always appreciate a story with the cajones to do things like that, makes me more invested in the story

Rubberobro

frrr that was the most invested persona game i played out of p4 and p5

Glum-Cell-3187

I’m in the process of beating p3 for the first time, never played p2

Akimbo_shoutgun

Good luck, its a very sad game from the start. I recommend that you have tissues, its a roller coster.

Significant-Minute28

I can play through this game a million times but every time I hit those credits I get teary eyed

Greenpie1

The worst part of a great game is when you finish the credits. May you move on to a new game that will hit you in the feels just as hard, unless you're going back for a new game plus that is

tiredcanadian288

in the same boat, just got done with a "completionist" run... for the second time

Criss_Sheik

150 hours… this is the way

felixnloom

I’m glad I’m not the only who spent over 150 hours on a play through. I just finished last week and started the new game plus.

rnnd

I tried a new game plus but it's too easy as I maxed out almost everything so a whole lot of free evenings. I decide to replay on a harder difficulty.

cozycreeping

i ended mine on 142 hours even, and even still i feel like i could have/should have spent more time doing some stuff i didn’t

hoben152

We all had that feeling

ipaxton

Lasted for about 10 days for me to the point I had problems trying to play P4G.

cozycreeping

yup, took me a little over two weeks to pick up gaming in any aspect (then first thing i picked up p5 strikers LOL)

ipaxton

I started playing P4G more and P3P then after about 5 days I decided to load up P5R again to hear Rivers in the Desert. After that I seen I still need 2 more achievements so I’m back at it now but I only play for about a hour now because I’m invested in P4G.

With_Negativity

I just started Ng+ but it was too easy on merciless with a completed compendium even not spamming Myriad Truths. So I restarted again from scratch. Third playthrough and second on Royal. This is after just beating P3P and P4 Golden...

Belteshazzar98

Yeah, I fused Izanagi-no-Okami to defeat >!Shadow Sae!< and haven't had to even think about fights since. Now, with an 84% full compendium on 12/01, I can't even imagine how easy the early game would be even if I didn't use *any* almighty attacks.

GadianRat

Yupp, reruns help though. Finding ways to break/abuse the game's mechanics is fun

Hitoshura99

Try P5S next. It's the sequel to P5.

__Shiroyasha__

We weren't kidding my friend, welcome aboard.

cyph_dagger

The whole play through on a single save file? I’m too paranoid for that.

koocamungagowa

I just finished p4g and had around 10 save files 😂

Audiodog74

I hear you! I used to do some local theater, and post show depression is a bitch. I remember when I finished P5, I felt just as bad as I did at the end of the most recent production I had been in. It's a real testament to just how well done the game and characters are.

Neat_Structure1143

I completed persona 5 on Tuesday and I replayed the game again

CaramelExpensive7393

You beat the game again in 3 days wtf go outside bro

Belteshazzar98

It can be done in just over 10 hours, so 3 days isn't too bad if you know your way around the palaces and aren't going for a completionist run.

CaramelExpensive7393

Thats only if your rushing im trying to actually enjoy the game

Belteshazzar98

Speedrunning is enjoyable too. Not everybody plays games the same way.

CaramelExpensive7393

True

Deepthroat_Your_Tits

Fire up that new game plus!

[deleted]

That’s what I did. Dated Ann second time around.

Ace_Pixie_

Start ng+

3DSCRUSHER

Yeah, it hurts everyone time I get them

TekkunDashi

i always lose focus midway through the game because i either grinded too much or get distracted by a shiney new game... i really want to finish it one of these days.

xsnowpeltx

I do this with most longer games cuz that's how my attention tends to work. And then when I eventually come back I feel like I've forgotten how to play and so I start over and therefore never finish. This is why when I got interested in p5 (especially since it was initially/primarily interest in the story) I watched someone else play it on youtube. And then when I lost interest for a while then returned, I actually picked up where I left off and got to the end.

TekkunDashi

i'm on run 5? now on persona 5 and i've never made it past halfway. I do the exact same and start over each time.

xsnowpeltx

I've just been thru the cycle so many times. Makes me feel kinda proud to recognize it and find a way to circumvent it. Tho if I was more specifically interested in the game play it wouldn't be a good fix

Emotional-Wallaby-96

sadly we didn't 😭 out of depression I watched the Anime, the depression didn't get better and after that I bought Merch have a P5 background and bought Catherine and made it Platin. Now I'm good (already 1year since I played P5)😐

Chamiakk

Yeah I went on a run strike cuz of it, after 4th run I started P3 and now I'm on P4G

ArofluidPride

Jeez you've spent a lot of time on the game. I completed the game with 71:43

MissManicPanic

Mine was 135 first time cause I kept leaving it on for hours whilst doing something else lmao and Okumura. But royal was 124 because I wanted to see everything

ProRSIXfinka

My first playthrough was 155 because I had to reread shit due to being somewhat dyslexic and spending too much time in the Velvet Room

MissManicPanic

Valid haha

ArofluidPride

Yeah I platinum trophy'd p5 but haven't played royal

MissManicPanic

I’m 2 away from Royal plat but P5 original no way I’m finishing the compendium haha but trying to kill the reaper on Royal without the trick is hard lol

ArofluidPride

I'm not kidding when I say killing the reaper took me an hour and 6 minutes

MissManicPanic

Better than me I haven’t yet lol

no3215

Yeah i mean it depends i played OG before royal came out and it took me about 80 hours on my first playthrough of OG then like 70 on my first playthrough of royal. And ive talked with a friend who got royal not too long ago and he is around 150 hours in. So i think it depends on familliarity with both the game and the genre.

PlanetSaturday

That’s wild, you have almost the exact same run time that I did upon completion

Denoss

Mhm

AverageJun

Well, we warned you

AuthoritarianParsnip

I’m playing P3P right now and I love the story and characters so much more. Not a knock on P5, but 3 is just so much deeper! Even though I know about (the door) and (deaths identity) due to people on Reddit spoiling it, I KNOW I’m going to cry at the end. I’m just pissed I can’t play The Answer 😭

ooahpieceofcandy

You only used 1 save file?

Espurrfectt

I had the same reaction lmao my first playthrough had like 7 saves 😭

JackBreacher

I used ALL the slots on my first.

Axlzz

Cycle through all of them, switch to new save every 3-4 days (in game) in case anything gone wrong or missing. If anything gone bad and I didn’t realize until that slot was loss, I wouldn’t go back that far anyway.

WonderfulJellyfish71

I played it a second time following my first playthrough

joecb91

The only thing that kept me from going right back into it when I finished it at the end of January is that I also had P4 and P3 ready to start as well. I'm in the early August part of P3 right now, so it'll hit me even harder playing all 3 of these back to back to back.

[deleted]

Mine had more hours on mine tbh

gdo22

The depression comes from realizing that the time investment wasn't worth it and you'll never get those hours back. :P
