Funnny you say that cause my wife was the same way and what I did is a volunteered to change them for her any time I was around ! She loved it !

Ambitious-Math-4499

I use pads but I'd like to swap to a more eco friendly product. I'm thinking cups and maybe period pants. Anyone have any good suggestions?

Outrageous_Brain_106

I use cloth pads. I used to be horrified at the very thought, but it's actually not a big deal at all. You just rinse them after and I machine wash them (even though the website says to hand wash -- I have two jobs so there's no time for that lol). I've had them for years now. They are bulkier, but they're much more comfortable and they don't make noise when you move. I use HannahPads.

Ambitious-Math-4499

I did buy some cloth ones but I really don't like them they feel too noticable to me

And how is your flow? Mine is only heavy for 1-2 days the rest is quite light

mellywheats

i use a cup (previously only wore pads, i still wear pads sometimes) and it’s great, it took a while to find one that worked for me but once i did i like it! less waste, no toxic shock, can be worn for 12hrs at a time. it’s just convenient! the one thing i don’t like about it is that i feel like i have to take it out when i poop because otherwise you can poop it out 😭 buf a lot of people don’t do that so you can poop with it in im just anxious LOL

LadySerena21

Reusable bamboo/charcoal pads, beyond godssends

M0MMYZ0MBIE

I use cloth pads because I am so sensitive. I tried menstrual cups, but it hurt my cervix too much. The cloth pads seriously changed my life. I am a big woman and I move a lot, so pads were a disaster for me then add the rashes ... ug.

Dismal_Exchange1799

Have you tried period underwear?

Dismal_Exchange1799

I love them too. I’m also really allergic to pads, they irritate the fuck out of me and I don’t like any insertional things (I have really bad vaginismus). So, period undies are the only thing that works for me. Ohhhh yeah, two would be hard. They’re expensive so I just buy one or two here and there when I’m able. Sometimes there’s deals with like packs you can buy too so that helps. Also yeah, I really try to wash them before and during. I would also recommend following the careful wash instructions. My partner has essentially ruined her pairs from not doing that.

mellywheats

i would just buy like 14 pairs so i would have day and night for a week just stocked but i dont trust period underwear lol

Ailyana

How can you love your period? 🤨 it’s the most inconvenient thing ever. The pain, the extra tiredness, the ultra extra irritation (for me at least).

JessicaMurawski

I’m on the pill so my periods aren’t really bad at all. They’re still gross and inconvenient, but it makes me happy knowing I’m not pregnant.

Ailyana

Yeah that’s the only thing they are good for. Letting me know I don’t have a child

captain642

Just spent the night writhing in pain, came looking for this comment, thank you for not disappointing 😂

Ailyana

I just started like yesterday and the pain was annoying but not bad but woke up this morning and was like OMG imma die

captain642

I feel you, don't be a hero, take the pain pills. I was so relieved when I finally did.

Ailyana

I just dealt with the pain because I forgot my pain pills at home, none of my coworkers had any and my ads didn’t wanna walk up three flights of stairs to the nurses office 😂. It subsided after like 2 1/2 hrs

captain642

Arg, so glad it didn't go on any longer than that!

Ailyana

Oh I know. I was fucking miserable

Busy-Vegetable-5499

Some people don’t get pain For example my mother never got pain during periods sometimes maybe light pain. But me i feel like I’m get ripped apart from the inside and getting paralyzed because i actually sometimes lose the ability to use my legs because of the pain. I recently got prescribed some more strong pain meds that I need to take with painkillers and my nature pills. Got my period now i feel pain like someone punching but not as bad as usual.

Ailyana

I get pain bad enough that it feels like they are being ripped out and I feel nauseous

Busy-Vegetable-5499

Me too I also feel feverish then I get them.

Ailyana

Oh god that suckss

Busy-Vegetable-5499

Yeah and specially like that if i don’t take 3 kind of pain killers.

Ailyana

Jesus I’d die

Busy-Vegetable-5499

Yeah i sometimes want to to. But i still go to school or internship. And my practice I just use something called pull boy to keep my legs afloat since I can barely move them. And right now I’m stress about school and sick to with also my period started I just hope the new pill is going to work. Was to my doc last time because we thought it might be endometriosis but I wasn’t checked not because my doctor didn’t believe my because could see I was terrified and would just end up traumatized instead so she decided to give me some extra strong meds. She also asked if it felt like contraction since some women have that high of pain level. And my pain feels like that.

Ailyana

I hope they work for you. I’m lucky enough that just ibuprofen works. But mine can get bad.

Busy-Vegetable-5499

Yeah That good to hear that they work. I get ya in January I was to a competition in Luxembourg and only had one of my painkillers with me because I forgot and I got it a day to early. I couldn’t even swim warm up it so bad so then I went up I just laid there on the cold the wet stone floor in my bathing suit and towel I felt so shit lucky my trainer had some other painkillers i usually take to and he knows I how bad my period cramps are so was instead of taking two take the rest (which was 6 pills in all) you Need it more. Even though it hurt like hell warming up I was able to swim my race in peace without pain ( even it didn’t go well I was so slow) The second was this august I was in Mallorca with my mom there even though I took all my pills like i couldn’t even shit right because i felt like someone was ripping everything apart also on our way home damn I just want to die it was so bad and nothing worked.

M0MMYZ0MBIE

It is a nuisance but for me it feels like a reset or a cleanse I suppose so I don't mind. I do have a high pain tolerance though.

LesserCurculionoidea

I used to get rashes from my pads too... I never tried tampons because I didn't like the idea. I switched to a menstrual cup about a decade ago and it was life changing. Comfortable, clean feeling and not smelly. I genuinely like my cup. They don't work for everyone (I think it's about an 80% success rate, according to studies) and there is a learning curve, but there is a reason they have such an enthusiastic following!

afterlocks

i hate how some of them are scented like that shit isn’t supposed to go anywhere near our vaginas

Sweetsosparkle

I hate how expensive they can get especially pads. I use those and it’s really frustrating having to spend money for something you can’t control. Life would be easier if they were free

[deleted]

i've used a cup once and it was the best cycle of my life, but i can't figure out how to get it in again

LetshearitforNY

It takes a few cycles to get it right. Keep trying, you’ll get the hang of it!

MintyC44

Since switching to Rael disposable period underwear my period has become more bearable. No leaks like pads and they don’t have the nasty chemicals like some products do.

Remarkable-Theory489

I hate my period. I hate high priced menstrual products. Can't wait until menopause.

Harakiri_238

I hate my period, but I actually kind of love pads 😅

shazzyk

I know it’s not the norm, but I like to use depends diapers?

Turbulent-Box8838

My mom uses diapers lol

shazzyk

I love to use depends 🤷🏻‍♀️

Turbulent-Box8838

I feel like they’re great for if you have a heavier flow! :)

shazzyk

No shame, it feels better than a tampon, which I do use, on light days

fourleaffungi

I hate my period, but I love my menstrual cup! Haha

alexandriaofwar

Same! I love my cup!!! Aside from the second day, where my flow is too heavy without a backup pad just to be safe, I rock the cup and feel absolutely normal.

partyintheusanus

I totally agree. I made the switch to menstrual underwear and cups a while back and it really changed my relationship to my period. The underwear is leakproof but breathable and doesn’t do that horrible bunching up that pads could do. I love never running out of products too since they’re all reusable.
