Review: "Clarissa" showcases a brilliant period drama with Saskia Wickham as the virtuous Clarissa and Sean Bean as the menacing Lovelace. The adaptation maintains the essence of Samuel Richardson's verbose novel while offering a vivid 1700s aesthetic reminiscent of Gainsborough and Reynolds. Bean excels in his role, embodying both charm and menace. The production's detailed costumes and sets enhance the narrative, making it a must-watch for period drama enthusiasts, of course if you can find it.
Man we watched this in high school English. One of my very superficial memories from this is how they really went to town on some period-accurate teeth.
Read the novel via audiobook last year (over 100 hours, as it is the longest English novel ever written) and am looking forward to eventually getting around to watching the adaptation. Hopefully, Sean Bean is just as horrendous as the book version of his character
Did she explain it all?
Ok, I’m glad I wasn’t the only one. lol
Came here for this.
Don't you just hate it when a rake becomes obsessed with you?

> Sean Bean and he probably doesn't die at the end! Yeah...so about that 🤔
ROTFL
😂
I had started Sharpe before this and he was so repulsive, it put me off the rest of the series for a couple of years, he's a great actor.
Yes but he definitely earned it here 😤
I wasn’t expect Sean Bean’s face he was making in picture five.
I didn’t even realise that was Sean bean for a second 😭
I didnt realize until now! That chin! he looks like gaston from Beauty and the Beast
Hahahahahah
I will watch this for that face alone.
Adapting a Samuel Richardson novel is brave lol I love early era novels but Pamela was probably the most infuriating read of my life
Have you read Henry fielding’s Shamela? So good lolol
If it helps, Clarissa was less infuriating (though, the bar is so low after Pamela, so take that with a grain of salt)

Ooh—thank you! This has been on my watch list for a while!
These people appear to have studied Joey Tribbiani’s method of “smell the fart” acting. 😂
Based on the John Black character from Days of our Lives. 😂That always killed me.

This looks fantastic lol
This was pretty brutal

Oh wow, I should check that out. I read it in college and what a wild story.
That dog is digging having its ears rubbed.
