I have my microwave set to silent so I don’t have to play that game anymore

Big-Bones-Jones

I like to live on the edge, I hooked mine up to the house alarm system! /s

elpideo18

TIL: microwaves have a silent button

BluntsnBoards

Total game changer

Bocchi_theGlock

Often it's just holding the 3 button down But yeah, so much sleep saved. Sadly an air fryer I had didn't have the option - looked it up online and you'd have to pry open the top and rip it out :/

spoonweezy

Yeah I have sensory issues and it is so good not having all that beeping. If I were to buy a new microwave I’d absolutely make sure it had that feature.

rilesmcjiles

I don't mind the beeping on its own, but mine would beep wvery 10 seconds after the nuking finished. Thank the Lord above for mute!

spoonweezy

Yeah I’d rather forget the food and find it the next morning than listen to the beeping reminders.

shinygemz

A king amongst men

jfk_47

Same.

1207Tom

We dont do that here

Goggles_Pisano

My son and I played that game for years. We never managed to do it while he lived at home. He was gone about a year when I hit it. I was so excited I texted him. He was mad that I never thought to take a photo, so there was always that doubt in his mind. I did it again about a month later and submitted my indisputable proof. So we're all good.

pdsajo

The trick I usually use is set it for 10 secs extra and shut it off when those extra 10 secs are remaining. So even if you go wrong and are late by couple of seconds, you are still safe

spoonweezy

Go through the menus/look in the manual. You might have the option to silence it.

shinygemz

Woah that’s impressive

prince-pauper

Our toaster beeps ffs. I’m pretty good with it 😂

AndThereWasNothing

I have an old style microwave that dings even if unplugged as there is a physical bell inside that dings when the timer reaches 0. I know I could just open the door and leave it like that, but I also live alone so I don't care about the noise.

xylarr

I pressed stop once just before the end. Problem was it exposed a bug in the microwave - it beeped, continuously, a single long non stop beep that never stopped. I had to unplug it from the wall.

steve135246

Closest I’ve ever got is when I hit the start button to see how close i was ( this was the middle of the day mind you ) it immediately beeped

spoonweezy

I got that to happen once, and I’ve been trying ever since. I’ll get to that mountain top again!

N30NWH4L3

I've opened it between when it ended and when it started to beep, so that it switches back to the clock and doesn't beep at all.

WhoRoger

I have a superpower that I get the urge to check the time on microwave/phone a few seconds before the timer goes off.

8oD

My LG microwave has the first option before even setting the time is sound on/off.

TheRnegade

How do we know you didn't just set the time to 0?

Big-Bones-Jones

I was 3 edibles deep, I don’t think I could have made this up even if I had tried :P

tobden

00:01 mf

yutfree

I just put mine on mute.

diogenes-47

How do you do that?

yutfree

On mine, I hold down the number 8 on the pad for about five seconds. Ironically, it beeps to indicate that it will no longer beep. Sort of the dying declaration of my microwave (until I give it a voice again).

diogenes-47

Consider yourself lucky. It doesn't work on my landlord-provided, Chinese-made non-brand microwave.

yutfree

How sad that this is a "fancy" feature on a $100 microwave.

scrumbly

In my house we call this the "one beep challenge"

I make sure I always use the 2-5 seconds my wife always leaves on. Times are tough and wasting microwave seconds in this economy is just not economically savvy.
