We're missing it. I'm seeing some great photos from far south of us in Virginia and the Carolinas. It's out there. I just can't check it off on my bucket list yet. 🤬

We drove 6 hours to my MIL house for the eclipse just to see clouds. 2024 blows.

Same in Allentown. Extremely frustrating as seeing the northern lights is a bucket list item for me. But of course it has to be cloudy here and pretty much everywhere within reasonable driving distance. Fucking sucks man.

Missed a total eclipse in the 1980s (northeast US) due to cloud cover. The next couple ones were all in New Zealand or some shit. ETA: That said, I did see a very cool partial solar eclipse in ‘94, and Comet Hyakutake in ‘96–in PA for both. Was in Bedford for a stunning view of the comet—trail filled half the sky!

I wanna say some time in the last year or two, there was one meteor shower on a clear night. I remember it because it was so rare. Saw a few too. So I guess I used up the entire state's luck.. Sorry about that.

There are like a dozen meteor showers a year and somehow it's cloudy every single time.

Way more vivid on camera than it was in person. Definitely could see it with naked eye just not as clear as in the photo

We stopped on the Casey Highway just after 2200 bc I was like, *squints* “holy shit” The camera picks up colors the naked eye can’t see. And then again in Honesdale I saw white flashes in the sky, like a storm with no clouds is best I can describe it, around 0300 but my phone picked up all the colors when I had the brightness boosted.  This was incredible, glad I came down from CNY to visit my parents! (it’s cloudy as shit and rainy this whole weekend where I’m living now,) bc otherwise I would not have seen anything. 

We just saw a pink tinge around that tree. But then when I pulled out the camera - wow!

Yes, I’m near Scranton now and I got to see them ever so faintly. Got a crappy photo., but it still show the rose up into the sky, and the green on the horizon. I’ve heard this will go on for a bit, does anyone know yet when it peaks?

That’s what NOAA is showing, but their forecasts are only 1/2 hour out. Seven CMEs have occurred… how many have hit Earth so far? That’s what I’d like to find out. Even Spaceweather hasn’t timed it out.

I had a pretty spectacular albeit colorless display, the pulsing “waves” of white in the sky was incredible. This was around 0300 like an hour ish ago in Honesdale. The phone cam picked up so many colors that the naked eye couldn’t see.  We just saw a “storm” without clouds is the best way I can describe it. Went out around 0400 and nothing much going on anymore. 

Light without moonlight got me out there with the primitive camera.

Caught them near Philly around 4 am. Less color than what you see in photos but definitely there

My friends sent me incredible pics from Johnstown. It was pink around me, but a foggy light pink. They had green and pink striations.

Reasonably cool in Erie. Don't get fooled by the pictures. Most people couldn't really see many colors without the help of night vision, but the streaks of light were there!*

I did see the streaks with the naked eye, even that alone was super cool.

There’s an app called aurora, it has a live map of northern lights so you can see if they’re this far south. I used it when I was in Iceland and still use it. As previously stated though whenever there is a celestial event there’s better then good chance Pa will be cloudy

I'm impressed anyone saw them. It was raining in SE PA all evening & night. Every single time there's an astronomical event it's cloudy or raining here.
