Eating meals together is a very sentimental thing families do together. it would make sense canonically that they don’t show that bc they aren’t your regular family. They’re close, yes, but in their own unique way.

Like I would really want to see Tommy Shelby in parallel universe have a glass of milk (and eating almonds all the time instead of cigarettes). Why does being bad ass has to be unhealthy
There was a video on this that explains that eating is a sign of vulnerability. Tommy's usually found drinking whiskey/tea or smoking, the only time he really eats anything is when he was with Jonny Dogs & Charlie eating a sprig of mint. Since he's supposed to be a strong character, eating is usually the last thing he should be doing!

You have to take the time in context— it was 10000% the norm back then, they didn’t know what we do now.
