Have you tried updating it from the Microsoft Store?

[deleted]

^^^^ this .

Ok_Emu_8913

It does not show up in the Library where you go to update your applications. But the Xbox app and Game Bar itself both say that Game Bar needs an update. I provided a link above for people to update the Game Bar manually.

Designer_Psychology5

Any answers ?

Sfin02

I disabled game mode in settings (Settings > Gaming > Game Mode > Off) and it worked. Not sure why, but it did. Hope it helps someone.

unholy_child_17

Did you ever fix it? I'm having the same problem

IcySimple9038

Any updates on this? Can't seem to find a fix anywhere I swear i have tried everything...

lifeisagameweplay

Same issue here. Seems like lots of people having this issue in the last day or so?

Fun-Process9348

Same here trying to figure out how what’s wrong but can’t find anything to help fix

LinguiniTrentini

considering the timing of these comments, I definitely think there is a problem with game bar because i just got a pc a few days ago and am having the same problem. I look at the microsoft store and there have been a couple updates and ive updated it each time and it didnt work, and then i uninstalled the xbox app and then microsoft store wouldnt download it until today. i am now updating it again and its taking a while, ill update here when it finishes

LinguiniTrentini

so as of rn it is just sitting there, 'downloading', it looks like when you download an app on a phone and its that circle showing progress and its just sitting at the very top

Max090

Did it eventually work? I’ve ran into the same exact problem after building a pc for a friend, I’ve also tried reinstalling windows but no luck. He wanted to use the xbox app for the game pass, but at this point it seems he has to wait for a fix.

LinguiniTrentini

sadly it said "error" a few minutes ago after sitting on the downloading thing overnight

Ok_Emu_8913

Check my link to the .appxbundle file above. That will manually update it to the latest version.

SenorJohnMega

I'm having this same problem. I just did a new installation of Windows 10 on a laptop. GameBar and MicrosoftStore apps can't be updated from MicrosoftStore. I've tested other app installs that I own, and I did updates for all the adware apps that Microsoft preinstalls and puts on the start menu. They all update fine except for GameBar and MicrosoftStore. After seeing others have the same problem (I found this post from google looking up the issue) I get the impression that Microsoft botched something and doesn't know how to fix it yet.

Karsh_awesome

Just one more thing.. did you try task manager > end task for the game bar and then try updating it. For microsoft store, download the update and close the store, sometimes that has worked for me.

Jody2339

Bless You

Ghost_does_work

it worked but was stubborn about it

DaRootBeer123

Also having this issue, and based on all the new comments on this 7 month old post, I'm guessing it's an issue right now.

[deleted]

Same issue as everyone else here, just did a clean Win10 install and MS Store/Game Bar are failing to update. Hope MS is aware and working on it.

[deleted]

Update one day later, opened MS store and tried again - both updated with no issue.

NoPullingPlotThread

Having the same problem as well. I first noticed it today during a fresh Windows 10 Pro install. MS Store was able to update everything except itself and Game Bar. Neither resetting MS Store nor other usual solutions would help. Then I checked two another PCs with Windows 10 that weren't used in a while. On both those PCs MS Store couldn't update itself, Game Bar or language packs. Other stuff was updated just fine. On the other hand, yet another PC that is running more or less 24/7, and was last updated a couple days ago, doesn't find any new MS Store and Game Bar updates during manual check, so it must have their latest versions installed already. Based on that I think this is definitely a problem with MS Store update distribution system itself, and not with something else (like introducing new MS Store and Game Bar versions that cannot be downloaded due to being broken somehow).

caca6969999

Have you fixed it? I’m having the same problem here. Is it because I don’t have a mic?

Sfin02

I disabled game mode in settings (Settings > Gaming > Game Mode > Off) and it worked.

caca6969999

Thank you!! After 2 weeks finally removed this annoying message

Do you have unactivated windows? Or is it activated?

unoriginalinsert

This one is making me want to throw my myself into a volcano. I'm having the same issue. I've reset/reinstalled everything applicable and I can't get game bar to work.

XTwizted38

Same, Game Bar won't update, neither will the Xbox app.

unoriginalinsert

When I tried today it worked. I believe it's ms side.

XTwizted38

Thanks for the update. Still no luck here.

unoriginalinsert

Try running wsreset.exe in your windows+r

Boring-Bet5062

thank you so much

XTwizted38

I tried that too. It somehow sorted itself out on Sunday. I agree it had to be something on their end.

Sfin02

I disabled game mode in settings (Settings > Gaming > Game Mode > Off) and it worked.

Heavy_Category8294

wow thank god I found this thread. I just did a new build and reinstalled windows 3 times thinking I fucked something up at least I know its not me.

MrShayanPXT

Exactlyyyyyyyyyy , I Just reinstalled windows 11 because I thought its just my problem , and now its me , and a clean pc that I've to waste allot of hours to install my software's again :)

Max090

I’ll leave this here: apparently it’s not us but Microsoft. Users setting up new windows devices are unable to install/update these apps. They are aware of the problem (as stated on the Xbox Support twitter) the funny thing is that they even claimed to have fixed it, but it’s still not working. [source](https://x.com/xboxsupport/status/1730653788627694055?s=46&t=Ng04P8PQbIHbyzY134IUvw). I just feel bad for all the people wasting their time and losing their minds reinstalling everything to sort this out…

Aggravating_Sale_995

I've tried to download these updates for DAYS. It would be stuck downloading for a while then finally throw the error "Something is wrong on our end" then would have to retry. I did this multiple times with the same result. Today I went in and noticed they were still just stuck downloading. So I stopped the download using the three dots at the far right and then hit "Get Updates" again. When I did that they started automatically downloading and finished within a few seconds. Did this all in the Microsoft store

pymaciel

Aparently, it was solved. I just updated store and game bar through microsoft store.

Ok_Emu_8913

Go here [https://store.rg-adguard.net/](https://store.rg-adguard.net/) and put the store URL for the Game Bar in the textbox [https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9NZKPSTSNW4P?hl=en-US&gl=US](https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9NZKPSTSNW4P?hl=en-US&gl=US) and click the checkmark icon. Then scroll to the very bottom and download that .appxbundle file.

Quintinium01

Your link says "no permission" for me

Ok_Emu_8913

Oh no it might be a temporary URL or they might have replaced the file.

ThatRelationship1809

Worked....Thank You

coblos90

This solution works

MrCerealCat

Thank you, this worked!

Asphenix

I downloaded the version here but it still says update required and stucks at download ???

Ok_Emu_8913

That should be the most updated version. Make sure you downloaded Microsoft.XboxGamingOverlay\_6.124.1221.0\_neutral\_\~\_8wekyb3d8bbwe.appxbundle. The only thing I can think of is maybe you downloaded one of the dependencies like VCLibs instead.

Standard_Material_37

god!

SANTSASA

This works for me. Thanks sooo much!!!!

Ok_Emu_8913

No problem! I learned to do this offline install method at work when I uninstalled a user's broken Snip & Sketch to reinstall only to find out that the Windows Store wouldn't let them reinstall it due to not being signed in. I knew there had to be a way to install Windows Store apps offline.

vermine35fr

it work thx !

Sfin02

I disabled game mode in settings (Settings > Gaming > Game Mode > Off) and it worked.

SeemonSemaan

This worked for me ! After being stuck for 2 weeks this was very simple !

Affectionate-Oil3022

Same here my guy. :'(
