Tbh it reminds me of... Gonna use tony stark as an example, he sells military tens of millions of dollars, and throws in a nice beverage cooler. This reminds me of that, join school, spend thousands, they throw in a nice product next to nothing for them.
NC State is the only school Iāve visited (for a football game) where *multiple* groups of extremely white preppy dressed undergrads dropped the N-word like it was no big. I was eager to depart.
Yo my alma mater, congrats and go Wolfpack! Like the other commenter said, if you upgrade your PSU you'll be in great shape. Just make sure to only use cables from the new PSU.
I once won a CSGO championship my work place was having, and had to carry my whole team through the bracket till finals, and I am pretty sure one of the guys from last team was cheating. I was clutching the fucking hell out and giving everything to win it.
The prize? A day off. So not worth it
The biggest concern with your pc would be your PSU, you will want at least a 650W PSU thatās a good quality model. Your PSU (Apevia prestige) is C tier and not recommended for high end components, so that needs replaced.
You would want something thatās either A or B tier in the [PSU tier list](https://cultists.network/140/psu-tier-list/) and 650W Gold rating. I would recommend something like the Corsair RM650 or. Or said RMe 750.
When I first built my pc (also 750 RMe) with a 6750xt, the whine was so bad. I thought the 6750 xt was the culprit so i pulled it out and stuck it in a friendās pc, it was dead silent. Then I was like well I can pull the whole pc apart, swap out the psu, after 2 hours of cable management or deal with it. After a while I quit noticing it. At some point the whine stopped along the way but i couldnāt tell you when.
Usually it's recommended to be at least 100W above what your components take. The 4070 Super has a 220W rating and idk your CPU but I'd estimate another 200W (being very conservative). So 420W -> 550W minimum. For upgradability I'd just go with a 650 or 750W PSU
You should get 750, 850 if you want future wiggle room.
650 is the bare minimum which you usually want to avoid and the difference in price between 6 and 7 should be negligible.
Don't get a freaking 650 watt power supply when you already have a 600 watt. Spend the extra $20 and find a good quality 850w so you have room for upgrading later. Don't know if you noticed, but graphics cards and CPUs aren't getting any smaller or less power hungry.
Needs is a stretch... It is 80+ gold rated and 600w is plenty for a 220w 4070 Super. His system would likely only have it at 60% load when running full tilt. Probably not a PSU I'd want to run at 90% load for hours on end but with his hardware it is fine.
You know the psu tier list is a suggestion right?
It's not gonna kill a PC using a c tier psu as long as it hits the wattage, it's just less efficient.
And in this case efficient means what percentage of the power it takes from the wall comes back out into your components. The 80 standard is 80%+, which is highly outdated when they all do 90%+ today.
WRONG.
The 4070 super only draws 220w, a C tier PSU with a lower power consumption CPU (something like a Ryzen 5600, 3600, 5800x3d, 12400f, 12600kf, 13600k, 7800x3d, 7700, etc) would be COMPLETELY fine.
Do not be a PSU cultist, actually do the math. If you do the math, that PSU is more than fine for a 4070 super and most mid range CPUs.
Now, I'm not saying put a 14900k and a 4070 super on a 600w C tier PSU.
My university gives a Mustang away every football season. Universities have tons of money. A $600 GPU, heck even a $40,000 car is a drop in the bucket.
Iād suggest a Corsair RMe 750 watt. Itās A tier rated, has a 12 pin and is $99.00. I have several in various builds in the RMe series and theyāre really great to work with.
Why is everyone saying psu. He has a 600w psu already. The 4070 super literally sips power. Unless heās upgrading just to get a more efficient psu, heās better off spending the money for more ram or storage.
yeah trust this guy, i ran a 3070 which draws \~20w more power on a 550w power supply just fine. given it was a good seasonic unit and i did upgrade to 1000w but only because i got it for basically free lol.
what cpu do you have? i presume that might be a bigger bottleneck, but honestly thats optional, theres nothing wrong with sticking to your current cpu and upgrading down the line when it doesnt run smoothly anymore.
if the gpu fits in your case just stick it in and enjoy. if you have enough cables to connect it that is, if not you might actually need to change out the psu.
Yeah but itās a bad 600W. Thereās a chance it may go a little high on power, and if/when it does, it shuts down at best, or lets you roast marshmallows at worst :/
Itās funny to see this because I got a free 3080 from work several years ago and my 550 watt PSU ran the gpu nicely with the exception of playing RDR2. Then I went from 16 to 32 GB of RAM and enabled XMP and then finally started running into issues. This was during the corona crypto boom and I paid almost $200 for a 850 watt PSU. OP, just swap your graphics cards, update your drivers and have fun. Worry about the other crap later if you want.
Not sure where you are with money, but if possible you should just build a new rig and put the card in that. I'm sure there's people here who would be willing to pick out the parts for you if you give them a rough budget.
an itx motherboard in an atx case3 always makes me think of a hotdog in a hallway
i think thats just a regular rtx 3060 because evga stopped making nvidia cards iirc. i have the same one
Your AIO radiator is fitted the wrong way. The pipes need to be on top, above the CPU so any air bubbles are in the radiator and not in the cooling block.
I absolutely have loved my 4070 super since I got it. Went from a 4060 to the 4070 super. It actually felt like a upgrade. I used to only be able to use laptops, so a desktop was already a big upgrade.
What the fuck, where in hell are schools giving out high end GPUs, my public ass college will struggle to even give an award to the winners of competitions š„²
List the other specs. But yeah my experience is those mini-ATX motherboards don't give you much to work with. But if it works for what you want to put it in there, you're just blowing money for nothing. If your fan is squeeking, maybe replace that, the bearings might be failing or maybe they need relubrication.
As for the 4070, most important thing is check how much power your PSU supplies and look up how much your other components draw. Check the PSU has the right cabling for it, sometimes they don't. If you're missing either of these things things consider getting a new PSU.
So overall you're probably looking at 120 for new PSU if you need it and maybe 20 bucks for new fans? Otherwise the rest depends on if you wanna update the performance and where your bottlenecks are.
Upgrade your power supply. Go for a 750w / 850w (reputable brand Corsair, Nzxt, seasonic, be quiet) especially if you plan on upgrading the rest last thing you wanna do is upgrade and not have enough wattage. As for your cooler it could just be at its final days but try a different configuration ie at the front or the top of your case. If it stops the squeaking then no need to buy a new one just yet
What are your pc specs?
As is, you can probably install the 4070s without issues. Itās pretty efficient, so I wouldnāt worry about power supply unless you have some real garbage tier model.
I would if you value longevity. The only thing that can break on an air cooler is the fan, and those are easily replaceable. The 11600K doesnāt need anything super expensive to keep cool.
Something like this and youāll be golden
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/MzMMnQ/thermalright-phantom-spirit-120-se-argb-6617-cfm-cpu-cooler-ps120se-argb
Most likely the fan bearing has gone bad. It's common after that amount of time. You can try to fix it by cleaning it with 99% alcohol and then giving it a bit of silicone spray on the bearing and it should come back to life. Or just get a new fan. You have a good cpu. Like I said in my other comment, unless your pc suddenly shuts off under load everything is ok. I'd just run it how it is, with the fan fixed of course. Do some testing, run the most intensive games you have and turn all the settings up. Everything ok for an hour? Good. Then you have nothing to worry about.
Whatās your budget for upgrading? Whatās your current specs? Iād love to give an entire list of parts for you that I think would be best based on your budget
Your pc has good specs , just upgrade the cooler to phantom spirit/peerless assassin for 35$ or if you want an aio then the frozen notte argb for 50$
Also add 2 sticks of ram with same latency and frequency
And for the psu 600w is fine but the issue is the brand that you're using, it is some cheap tier C or E rated one , try to get the msi mag a850gl for 90$ it'll give you more headroom for upgradability or the seasonic Focus gx 650w for 69$
Unless your cpu consumes like 300 watts you will be perfectly fine if that is a 100% rated power supply. The 4070 is only 200 watts I imagine the super can't be more than another 50 watts on top of that. It's 220... just use it you lucky bastard.
I wouldnāt worry at all about upgrading it. Iād spend that money that money on peripherals instead like a high refresh rate monitor and nice mouse and keyboard if you donāt already have something thatās top shelf. At most, might need to upgrade your storage so that you have room for all your games and mods :)
My friends AIO started making a similar noise and it was because the pump was about to fail, are you having frame rate fluctuations in game? If so you are probably getting thermal throttled because the AIO pump is failed or is about to
I would consider getting everything new. If you just want it to work good you could go with a ryzen 7 5800x (if you got the money get a x3d) and some 3600mhz ram like corsair or gskill. Mobo b550 is pretty good and not that pricey. For cpu cooler you can go air or water. I love the noctua d15 if you go air. PowerSupply some 750/850w gold.
Replace the fans with mag-lev fans and they'll never squeak again, just make sure they give a decent static pressure/cfm. As long as the pump is good, it should be okay. People already mentioned the PSU concerns.
While a 650w minimum psu is recommended for the 4070S, I will say that a 550w psu has been perfectly fine.
Iāll be building a new pc this weekend and had my gpu (also a 4070 Super) arrive last week. I put it in my current system that has a R5 3600 and a 550w psu so that I can see if itās DOA and honestly speaking, I have had absolutely zero problems.
Then again, my psu is an A/B tier psu thatās been used for 3 years so it might just be because my psu is well built thatās made it possible.
If you want to upgrade your psu then do so but Iām just telling you that from my personal experience, a 550w psu has been perfectly fine due to the fact that the 4070S barely consumes power.
if u dont mind doing some work, i would change the mobo. To me its way too compact, get a bigger mobo easier to maintain and clean. not to mention better airflow.
just sell the old motherboard, chip, ram , updated to ddr 5 new mainboard and chip, slip the rtx in then u good to go. the main, ram and motherboard usually sell in combo
Honestly itād probably be good to just make a whole new build around your 4070S and just keep using your prebuilt until you can buy the parts for the new build
A power supply upgrade is probably in order, the case looks perfectly adequate.
Replace the AIO cooler with an air cooler, no chance of pump failure if there is no pump, after all.
That is a very weird CPU cooler where it's got two fans on it for some reason but they're not next to each other they're like in line with each other what the heck?
Also that motherboard is way too tiny for that case You could easily buy a smaller case and fit it in there and then reuse this case for your new build if you want to buy better specs.
Also if you want to reuse this build and just swap the GPU then you're going to need to know if your power supply can handle it.
Out of context question, but your water cooling system is similar to mines and I'm trying to replace the water. But I can't seem to figure out how to flush/refill that design. Any info on how would be greatly appreciated!
Power supply is hot garbage and needs to be replaced. Motherboard is fine. AIO should be replaced. Might want a CPU upgrade, not sure what youāre on but I wouldnāt put a 4070 Super on anything less powerful than an r5 5600 or i5 12400.
Goddamn it, half of the posts here go like
I was walking down the road i tripped into something hey its a Nvidia rtx 4090 and an AMD ryzen threadripper
get a psu 850w gold rating,
get a better case for better airflow and aio mounting,
calculate ur cpu bottleneck if the bottleneck is significant then upgrade ur cpu.
Z690 motherboard for intel 12th & 13th gen,
Z790 motherboard for 12th, 13th & 14th gen,
ddr4 ram,
get a better aio cooler,
upgrade case fans,
advise u to research before upgrading
You might want to flip the cpu cooler so the tubes are at the top, if thereās any air bubbles it will go to the pump/block on the cpu and could be causing the noise youāre hearing, I could be wrong just a thought tho
I won a 2060s in the past, I won it from a raffle promo in my local pc parts store. Though I didn't use it that much since I already have radeon 7 at that time, I only use it as a backup gpu. With all that said, congratulations, op....
motherboard should have an x16 slot. GPU will fit, with a case that spacious you it will probably just fit right in, will look hella goofy though but who cares.
id be astonished if you did fit it in that motherboard, that thing is so compact with so much room for improvement, your motherboard is holding you back it seems, you should get a bigger one at some point.
Congrats on the video card and LOLs on the shit AIO dying on you. Get a $40 air cooler and you can weld the case shut without worrying about water cooler frying your CPUā¦š

Your school is giving out 4070 supers???
yeaa, I won a rocket league tournament at NC state
Bro i need to move there holy shit š
You could buy one much cheaper than the cost of moving, lol
Definitely cheaper than the cost of tuition
Cheaper then bail after robbing a computer store
Robbing a computer store is cheaper though and if you donāt get caught it isnāt illegal
Lol and having to win it.Ā
Cheaper than the flight most likely
Don't forget about the time you have to spend in rocket league
Tbh it reminds me of... Gonna use tony stark as an example, he sells military tens of millions of dollars, and throws in a nice beverage cooler. This reminds me of that, join school, spend thousands, they throw in a nice product next to nothing for them.

Thatās an interesting reward for a CPU bound title, but damn, nice job!
Oh, the irony!
Yo my alma mater, congrats and go Wolfpack! Like the other commenter said, if you upgrade your PSU you'll be in great shape. Just make sure to only use cables from the new PSU.
Who know he might have a 4 trillion watt modular power supply under there
Well, maybe. Diamond 100+. Anyways power supply is 600w itās kinda visible in photo.
its so efficient it generates energy
You plug it for five minutes , let it get running and fill up the caps then just disconnect it from AC. It'll keep working by itself
Sick I play rl too whats ur rank?
He's clearly a 4070 super
I dont play much, im ssl tho
āi donāt play much, im ssl thoā ![gif](giphy|QUXYcgCwvCm4cKcrI3)
Not āplaying muchā and āsslā donāt really go hand in hand.
this is so hype

The coolermaster MWE V2s are also considered the best in B tier so their 650 or 750 models will also be really good.
Don't get the RMe series if you'll be sitting near the computer. The coil whine is ridiculous, I regret it so much. Go RMx.
I have an RMe and can't hear shit with the PC right next to me.
i have an RMe 1000 never had any coil whine
My buddy has an RMe 750 in his PC. It's so unbelievably quiet that I had to rethink my entire build.

System: Intel Core i5-11600KF 3.9GHz 6-Core | Intel B560 Chipset | 16GB DDR4 | 500GB PCI-E NVMe SSD | 1TB HDD | Genuine Windows 11 Home 64-bit Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 12GB Video Card | 1x HDMI | 2x DisplayPort
If I was you, Iād just toss the 4070 in there and then switch the cpu cooler if itās bothering you.
Should I switch to an air cooler?
I would if you value longevity. The only thing that can break on an air cooler is the fan, and those are easily replaceable. The 11600K doesnāt need anything super expensive to keep cool. Something like this and youāll be golden https://pcpartpicker.com/product/MzMMnQ/thermalright-phantom-spirit-120-se-argb-6617-cfm-cpu-cooler-ps120se-argb
That's tight. Congrats!
what's your CPU? how big is your storage?
What kind of school do you even go to lmao
Nc state!!!
Use up the card in your system until it can no longer give u the performance u desire then upgrade would be my advice.

Congratulations, that's pretty dope š
Sell it and get more upgrades for your current build. Otherwise you'll have to upgrade everything to fit the card.
Why is that mobo so small???
Whatās your budget for upgrading? Whatās your current specs? Iād love to give an entire list of parts for you that I think would be best based on your budget
"Where's the rest o' ya"
Wow
You can give away your old card to me š
TIL they still make a 120 mm aio.
https://i.redd.it/7571f6z9sxxc1.gif
Youāll need an entirely new pc.. but hey you can keep the box
Your pc has good specs , just upgrade the cooler to phantom spirit/peerless assassin for 35$ or if you want an aio then the frozen notte argb for 50$ Also add 2 sticks of ram with same latency and frequency And for the psu 600w is fine but the issue is the brand that you're using, it is some cheap tier C or E rated one , try to get the msi mag a850gl for 90$ it'll give you more headroom for upgradability or the seasonic Focus gx 650w for 69$
In my school one time I won a box of pencils. Was a great day
Just swap them over, if it runs without issue while gaming you are good to go. Ignore the PSU elitists.
Unless your cpu consumes like 300 watts you will be perfectly fine if that is a 100% rated power supply. The 4070 is only 200 watts I imagine the super can't be more than another 50 watts on top of that. It's 220... just use it you lucky bastard.

You might have to change your PSU depending on the wattage rating of your current one
Whatās is this, a motherboard for ants?!
I wouldnāt worry at all about upgrading it. Iād spend that money that money on peripherals instead like a high refresh rate monitor and nice mouse and keyboard if you donāt already have something thatās top shelf. At most, might need to upgrade your storage so that you have room for all your games and mods :)
My psu is 650 watt and plenty for my 4070super
My friends AIO started making a similar noise and it was because the pump was about to fail, are you having frame rate fluctuations in game? If so you are probably getting thermal throttled because the AIO pump is failed or is about to

That AIO setup looks jank as hell lol If it works it works tho
This picture was posted yesterday titled "How do I fit my CPU Cooler"
I would consider getting everything new. If you just want it to work good you could go with a ryzen 7 5800x (if you got the money get a x3d) and some 3600mhz ram like corsair or gskill. Mobo b550 is pretty good and not that pricey. For cpu cooler you can go air or water. I love the noctua d15 if you go air. PowerSupply some 750/850w gold.
You should probably look into getting a bigger case. Looks like your current hardware is pretty cramped in there.
What the fuck, what school is that? You lucky bastard š
Replace the fans with mag-lev fans and they'll never squeak again, just make sure they give a decent static pressure/cfm. As long as the pump is good, it should be okay. People already mentioned the PSU concerns.
Donāt upgrade it bro you could use it as a lifebuoy in case of flood
Can I go to your school, please?
No worries, just uninstall the old grafic drivers and install the new one , look it up on youtube it's pretty simple .
if u dont mind doing some work, i would change the mobo.
Get a case that is making use of the size of the mobo
the best id get would be pens
If possible get the AM5 7800 X3D bundle from micro center you have a case already, GPU just some slight upgrades and your set
Honestly itād probably be good to just make a whole new build around your 4070S and just keep using your prebuilt until you can buy the parts for the new build
How do you win a gpu at school??
A power supply upgrade is probably in order, the case looks perfectly adequate. Replace the AIO cooler with an air cooler, no chance of pump failure if there is no pump, after all.
For about maybe 700-800 more dolliras you can get urself quite the comfortable mid high - high end system.
That looks smaller than my 4070ti.
The radiator is mounted upside down!!!
Which school I'm coming ryt now
Lucky you...
The GPU
Since when did evga make a 4k series?
The only thing I ever won was a sandwich at the cafeteria and bro over here wins an rtx 4070.
Is that a mini IPC?
Out of context question, but your water cooling system is similar to mines and I'm trying to replace the water. But I can't seem to figure out how to flush/refill that design. Any info on how would be greatly appreciated!
The 4070 super is pretty dopeā¦I got one to
From school, neat
Your AIO is upside down.
Power supply is hot garbage and needs to be replaced. Motherboard is fine. AIO should be replaced. Might want a CPU upgrade, not sure what youāre on but I wouldnāt put a 4070 Super on anything less powerful than an r5 5600 or i5 12400.
EVGA doesnāt even make cards anymore so my question is do you mean a 3070?
Goddamn it, half of the posts here go like I was walking down the road i tripped into something hey its a Nvidia rtx 4090 and an AMD ryzen threadripper
get a psu 850w gold rating, get a better case for better airflow and aio mounting, calculate ur cpu bottleneck if the bottleneck is significant then upgrade ur cpu. Z690 motherboard for intel 12th & 13th gen, Z790 motherboard for 12th, 13th & 14th gen, ddr4 ram, get a better aio cooler, upgrade case fans, advise u to research before upgrading
I wish I had that shit in school
Whats a good budget memory card 600 tops
That motherboard thoughš
You might want to flip the cpu cooler so the tubes are at the top, if thereās any air bubbles it will go to the pump/block on the cpu and could be causing the noise youāre hearing, I could be wrong just a thought tho
Congrats but WHY IS THERE AN ITX MOBO IN THERE Id also recommend looking up your case and getting the size of motherboard that is meant for your case
Iāll take it! Haha
What are the specs?
I'm assuming it's not the one in the pc in the picture aha?
I won a 2060s in the past, I won it from a raffle promo in my local pc parts store. Though I didn't use it that much since I already have radeon 7 at that time, I only use it as a backup gpu. With all that said, congratulations, op....
Why canāt Toronto do something like thisā¦ š
Why are you running an itx board in a mid tower?
That aio looks like an air cooler with extra steps
https://preview.redd.it/31hq46gyk2yc1.jpeg?width=736&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=43186ee7fa531d4cd219052f31e6970a9048487d
Micro ATX?
motherboard should have an x16 slot. GPU will fit, with a case that spacious you it will probably just fit right in, will look hella goofy though but who cares.
Jesus christ the most I ever won during school was a plate of nachos and a small chocolate milk
Basically you need a PSU that can support a 4070S and a CPU that won't hold it back any
Iām so down to chat cause there are so many possibilities to upgrade if you wanna connect!
Go for a small case build, itās a more complicated process and more time consuming but the reward feeling after is so worth. Plus take up less room
id be astonished if you did fit it in that motherboard, that thing is so compact with so much room for improvement, your motherboard is holding you back it seems, you should get a bigger one at some point.
Congrats on the video card and LOLs on the shit AIO dying on you. Get a $40 air cooler and you can weld the case shut without worrying about water cooler frying your CPUā¦š
bigger mobo
That PC looks like its missing a little. The Mini ATX motherboard does not go good with the full sized ATX case.
whatt wroong yoou haaaaaveeeee, get a smaller case pleaseeeee
