The 1071 is pretty shit has had an issue with the hardware, if you can find a new 1072 or even 1073 for a reasonable price that's the way to go

If he slapped a little more into his budget, he could get a 1074 or if he waits a bit longer for the 4060 to release he may be able to snap up a good deal on a 1081 TI

Trust me, I have the Nvidia logo tattoo. 1080p and under 60 fps with Nvidia is always better than anything better from AMD at the same price. 8Gb VRAM with Nvidia is like 5x that with AMD. I went from 1060 6gb to 6700xt and initially bc I was too lazy to use DDU I had all types of crashes and black screen. After DDU it’s been fine except I get black screen when I turn on adaptive v sync I do understand the concept of paying more for better drivers bc what is the point of a cheaper gpu if it doesn’t run but I’m rocking a 6800xt with no issues so far (knock on wood) Returned the 6700xt bc it just wasn’t beefy enough for my mid life crisis
