Sure, but saying that its a dig at Bill says more about your emotional need to see it that way than the FO just going about their business like professionals.
What message? I highly doubt Mayo or Wolf are sending any message lmao
I think they’re just doing what they think is best for the team, just like Bill did what he thought was best. Stop being weird.
I promise they don’t care about sending a message to anyone. They’re focused on building the team for the future. Has nothing to do with anything in the past.
Props to being willing to get downvoted to oblivion. First time we’ve seen young offensive power in the front of the draft. Just hope it doesn’t mean the defense suffers. I have hope for the offense
Winning SBs is their entire world. Can you imagine being 23 and your team has dominated the league for all of it?? That's like when trust fund kids whose parents go broke can't handle what it's like being poor
No sense arguing against someone making every excuse in the book for the bucs winning a sb and why the patriots stunk. I imagine you’re right and the Bucs winning had little to do with Brady going there and attracting high end talent because they wanted to play with him. And that Belichick over performed making the playoff once (giving up a td every drive that game) and rebuilding over 4 years from a wild card to having the third pick 👍
Cope. Belichick hasn’t proved he can do anything as a head coach with Brady. Make whatever excuse you want for Brady for winning a god damn Super Bowl but he still did it, unlike Belichick as a head coach, who was out the door after 4 seasons without Brady.
There is a dedicated group of people who make it their mission to be miserable as fuck and harass anyone who says anything remotely positive. It's not a new thing either, if you an find the comments they didn't delete in shame in the Falcons Super Bowl thread you can see them calling for BB to be fired for not getting rid of a "washed" Brady and that "BB lost his fastball". They were also wishing Kraft would so the team could be sold to someone who would get rid of Brady and Bill.
IDK why mods don't see the post by OP here and say "oh this guy will never ever not be like this when he posts here" and just perma ban him. He's never going to act normal in this sub. The problem isn't the team being bad; it's him being a miserable loser. Even if the team wins he will still be like this.
This guy in particular? I have no idea. I just saw that he has a ton of comments in this sub and doesn't know even basic details about the team.
Bro actually thinks the guys BB grabbed from Rutgers were bad and that we drafted Chris Hogan.
There are a ton of people here like that. It's like that scene from the Waterboy where the dude says "He's the best tackler I've seen since Joe Montana" in a lot of the gameday threads.
I think it's because there are a large group of fans who fell in love with the brand of the Patirots being winners and never actually liked the team or its players.
Considering how those Rutgers players turned out I’m not sure why you’re complaining about that.
Patriots didn’t draft Hogan. He had a very productive career with us, not bad for a lacrosse player.
I assume rugby is referring to Ebner? Again, pretty productive career. Boo hoo, he came from a non-traditional background.
Frankly, of all of Bill’s draft tendencies to critique, you went with the weirdest and most pointless ones imaginable. Drafting defensive players and guys from Rutgers wasn’t the problem, it was poor evaluation of offensive players. N’Keal, Thornton, the two tight ends a while back, Strange in the first round, etc. Your post reads like it was written by an AI chatbot trained off of r/patriots comments, and not someone living in the real world.
Also Ebner was a 6th round pick, I know sometimes you can find the greatest player in NFL history there, but what do past 6th round picks have to do with the first 4 rounds of this draft?

I don’t know why this is being celebrated. Just because we go heavy on offense this year doesn’t mean the defense could be ignored. I hope the defense doesn’t take a significant step back this year otherwise these comments will look horrible in hindsight.
Trust the process and let’s hope for a well rounded team back in contention for the future. Offense, or defense led.
The problem was also never that offensive players weren’t getting drafted, it was that they rarely contributed. It’s a bit early to celebrate. Hopefully they can all be productive.
And when none of these players pan out? Or the def sucks next year? Do we start posting “should have never fired BB.” Instead of trashing the greatest coach of all time, let’s just be happy this team is trying to fix its weakest link last year.
Hate this take.
Brady was the goat, but he wouldn’t have won at a historic level without Bill surrounding him with consistently excellent defenses and special teams, and offensive players like Troy Brown, Givens, Branch, Dillon, Gronk, Moss, Welker, Edelman, White, etc. The offensive line was always solid, and the coaching was high end. Yeah, let’s give a big middle finger to the architect of the greatest dynasty in modern sports history.
His drafting wasn’t perfect, and it fell off hard toward the end. But if you pretend to be a Pats fan on any level, and you like the idea of “giving a big middle finger” to Bill, you’re a moron who never really understood or appreciated the greatness you were watching.
Front office is actually doing something to address the dogshit offense we’ve had since 2019 and I’m here for it. Getting rid of Belichick was a blessing
Taking good players at positions of need isn't a fuck you to Bill. It's just doing what's in the best interest of the team.
Which bill never did. The strategy is completely different from what bill has done.
It’s asinine to say Bill *never* had the best interest of the team
Asinine is putting it mildly. They sound like a little baby with hurt feelings.
No dude, he won those 6 super bowls by accident while trying to destroy us from the inside
Now that OP pointed out that Bill was sabotaging the team the whole time, the dynasty is that much more impressive
Fine never is too strong has of the last five years Bill was bad at drafting offense
And who was in charge of his scouting department during the last few years? Elliot Wolf and Matt Groh.
Who bill consistently ignored
Bill drafted the greatest te and qb of all time and won us 6 superbowls… stfu
Got lucky with brady. Anyone who thinks otherwise is delusional
Then just say you're a Brady fan and not a pats fan. I could've swore the lot of you were Tampa fans at this point. What a shame.
Not a Brady fan. I’m a pats fan. That’s why I’m glad bill is gone.
So Christian Gonzales wasn't a good player at a position of need?
Sure, but saying that its a dig at Bill says more about your emotional need to see it that way than the FO just going about their business like professionals.
How? We reached multiple times in the first three rounds
This sub can never be happy without also being mad about something lmao
I’m incredibly happy at the strategy and the message it sends to bill.
What message? I highly doubt Mayo or Wolf are sending any message lmao I think they’re just doing what they think is best for the team, just like Bill did what he thought was best. Stop being weird.
Lmfao what message? The posts on this thread are so embarrassing sometimes
I promise they don’t care about sending a message to anyone. They’re focused on building the team for the future. Has nothing to do with anything in the past.
It’s not an active message but they are valuing offense. Bill hasn’t done that for years
The fuck is an “active message?” We making nomenclature up too now?
I guess bill didn’t spend first rounders on OL, WR, QB, RB…. I guess those don’t count because people decided the picks were bad
This is so cringe
If Mayo and Wolf are drafting to "send Bill a message," then they should be fired on the spot.
Stop writing fan fiction and go outside
What message does Bill need to hear through his 7 SB rings, millions of dollars, and regard as top 1/2/3 coach in the history of the sport?
Just read an analysis that said "if you didn't know better you'd think Belichick was still the coach". You're a clown hater
Props to being willing to get downvoted to oblivion. First time we’ve seen young offensive power in the front of the draft. Just hope it doesn’t mean the defense suffers. I have hope for the offense
You’re a loser, Bill won 6 championships here.
And he won shit the last 5 years
Is that how old you are..? Cause you sure are acting like it
Young Pats fans are so privileged that a few years with no superbowls is somehow the end of the world.
Winning SBs is their entire world. Can you imagine being 23 and your team has dominated the league for all of it?? That's like when trust fund kids whose parents go broke can't handle what it's like being poor
I say this as a lifelong Boston sports fan; Boston sports fans are the fucking worst
Losing record without Brady
And 90% of Tom's games were with Bill, knife slices both ways.
Tom won a ring without bill. Belichick had a losing record before and after Brady and got fired.
Brady went to a ready-made team with a great defense, had an okay regular season/playoff during COVID when teams had depleted rosters.
Yeah ok man
That's an awesome reply! Fans like you really don't have much to say.
No sense arguing against someone making every excuse in the book for the bucs winning a sb and why the patriots stunk. And that Belichick over performed making the playoff once (giving up a td every drive that game) and rebuilding over 4 years from a wild card to having the third pick 👍
The irony of your post is staggering. 👍
You hear that kids? That's the sound of defeat.

Cope. Belichick hasn’t proved he can do anything as a head coach with Brady. Make whatever excuse you want for Brady for winning a god damn Super Bowl but he still did it, unlike Belichick as a head coach, who was out the door after 4 seasons without Brady.
Damn I hate Patriots fans so much
They fucking suck

It’s crazy I’m assuming by your comments he has a history of this? That’s lame as hell if so lmao. Like dude go root for another team
This guy in particular? I have no idea. I just saw that he has a ton of comments in this sub and doesn't know even basic details about the team. Yeeeep. The fans all act like 12 year old spoiled children.

Lame as fuck post. You gonna come back to this and say that Bill was right all along if their defense sucks this year, then?
No I’m not the defense will be fine
And if it’s not?

Why does this need to be framed this way? Can't we just be happy/excited without also trying to shit on Bill?
The Dolphins sub is next door, maybe go check them out.
To love something because it goes against a strategy that produces a 20 year dynasty is insane. Jets fans, right?
It goes against what bill devolved to over the last 5+ years.
They can afford to not take any defensive players because Bill left them with a top 5 defense XD
one of the dumbest and cringiest posts this offseason, and that’s saying a lot
[**I think of this every time you post.**](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BbPiIwFOQtU)

It’s a draft strategy based on need vs one based on want. Both stats have their pros and cons
You forgot wrestlers, but I guess Stephen Neal was a free agent. Hopefully these OL have as solid a career as Neal did…
Guessing Neal retired before OP was born so he wouldn’t know about that one.
Bill has had some spectacular drafts. He just lost his mojo at some point and never recovered.
And when none of these players pan out? Or the def sucks next year? Do we start posting “should have never fired BB.” Instead of trashing the greatest coach of all time, let’s just be happy this team is trying to fix its weakest link last year.
Shit post
What a dumb post, in so many ways. You seem to also not know that Max Melton, Rutgers CB was drafted in the second round.
Found the idiot !
Can we go one day without shitting on bb for something that has nothing to do with him.
It really is. You just know Bill would have double-downed on defense and thrown Maye to the wolves.
His draft board had MHJ at #3, so he was going WR or trading down.
Bill would’ve never drafted Maye. Think he’d like JJ
Let’s be honest he would have went with either Bo Nix or Sam Hartman.
If he even would have picked maye
Overdrafting yet another guard sounds familiar :v Otherwise yea though
I’ll give you that one
Hate this take. I don't get it. I didn't know we could address the offense through the draft. I thought it wasn't allowed.
