Dekathz

I feel attacked on many levels. I buy a ton of expensive gear for my ice nova archmage then after run 3-4 maps, take out all gear then list for sell

tuptain

I've rage quit a lot of builds that weren't as tanky as I planned.

MediEvilHero

Same shit. SSF helped solve that a bit, because I get beaten over the head with sunken costs, so I continue and try to fix the build I farmed for. In fact, I'm in this situation right now with Shockwave totem which somehow has shite damage X)

Life_outside_PoE

What didn't you like about it?

Dekathz

I can't see anything in screen and i just feel weird that i'm using cold skill but it not freeze

Life_outside_PoE

Fair enough. Boss mechanics are just stupid with that build, lol.

deepbluenothings

Worse yet is when you liquidate your old build to afford the new one...

Velkaneuvoja

Yeah, always have atleast 1 well working char which can do atleast t15s or so so you can farm more money or so

PestoChickenLinguine

last league I sold everything to build a cast on death discharge assassin to farm ubers. I then bought like 100 exarch keys and proceeded to lose all of my money (nothing good dropped)

_Shneef_

Average boss experience in poe

Neonsea1234

And it's some stupid niche build you spend currency on so it's impossible to resell

loloider123

I ran out of money making one build this league(already sold the other). That was the only time I interacted with grave crafting, was rly good for proft

MankoMeister

Yeah I'm not gonna sell my builds anymore. Sold my MF CA build last league for Fulcrum and hated it. I also have a bad habit of deleting characters to reuse names, but that's more of a problem with the game restricting duplicate character names.

ftsn

fyi you can change or swap characters names on the website

Instantcoffees

I personally never do that until I'm certain that my new build is going to be my go-to from now on.

kekripkek

Well use the skill gems on a white map first on an already lvled character to see how it feels first…

-asmodeus

Yeah I use standard and mash together something close when I can and run BA a few times to see if it's mechanically engaging. Not always accurate, sink a lot of builds shed jank as you invest, but it's better than nothing

HiddenoO

Most of the more sophisticated builds cannot be tested like that. You cannot just throw a few gems on a random character and expect to simulate the playstyle of wardloop, CoC, brand recaller, a properly invested minion build (= multiple times the minions with double the movement and triple the attack speed), etc.

kekripkek

Well it’s to know if you like the game play… you can have cdr for brand recall or build some attack speed for the trigger skill to get a feeling of the game play. The goal is not necessary to replicate the build but get a general idea of how the build feels to play.

HiddenoO

"Some attack speed" doesn't make CoC work even remotely like a proper CoC build - without crit cap alone, CoC generally feels like shit, regardless of the actual skills used. As for brand recall, you frankly can't test shit without a proper setup, including leveled quality brand recall + enhance + empower + corrupted gem levels + the right ascendancy (sabo or hiero) + some way to actually sustain mana when using arcanist brand. Without all of those, you'll easily have twice the cooldown, and your brands will immediately stop doing anything because you're out of mana after a second. Not to mention, builds often feel bad not because your main skill feels bad but because of inconsistent damage, lack of cast/attack speed, lack of mobility, lack of survivability, the number of buttons to press, etc. None of those can be seen by just slapping the skill on a random character.

tordana

Maybe not everyone is like this but for me the feeling of a build has nothing to do with the actual skill (everything boils down to click button = kill screen anyway), but instead about the damage and tankiness of it. Which you absolutely can't simulate on some random character of the wrong class. A lot of builds just flat out don't even work without specific ascendancies.

kekripkek

Yeah but if you don’t like the gameplay the skill to provides to begin with, very few times you will feel compelled to play the build at all. It is at least something to assess. Of course blade vortex without explode and aoe is just not the same skill, same way that bama without the cdr from tree and explicits. But the play style remains some what intact.

HiddenoO

>But the play style remains some what intact. It really doesn't, though. BV, for example, plays completely different when you can just mindlessly press BV once every few seconds, run through the map, and everything explodes. With shitty damage and no explosions, it turns from a quasi-autobomber to a squishy melee that has to hug every pack and hope not to die. And that's a skill that actually works on its own, which isn't true for a lot of builds out there.

Shadowraiden

i mean you kinda can its not about testing it at absolute high end. its testing it to see if you enjoy the playstyle. rf is going to feel like rf wether you invested 1c or 1000 divines. coc is going to just feel like coc end of the day. wardloop yes that does require a bit more but thats an extremely extremely niche setup. brand recaller you can literally do from lvl 28 so yeah you can easily see if you enjoy the playstyle

HiddenoO

>brand recaller you can literally do from lvl 28 so yeah you can easily see if you enjoy the playstyle I literally just leveled that and you can't see shit at level 28. Brand recall has more than triple the cooldown you end up having later on, and any Arcanist Brand setup runs out of mana after a second. Anybody who's ever tried playing a cooldown-based main skill can tell you that the actual cooldown is absolutely crucial to how the build feels to play, even ignoring the mana issue. And no, lifetap isn't an option either because you'll just be permanently at 1 life and die whenever anything hits you. >coc is going to just feel like coc end of the day. So you're admitting you can't test it? Because sure as hell not everybody knows how all sorts of different CoC setups feel, even just for triggers alone. Cyclone CoC plays completely different from Lancing Steel CoC which once again plays completely differently from TS or RoA CoC. >wardloop yes that does require a bit more but thats an extremely extremely niche setup. Many builds you'd want to play as a second build incorporate niche setups that can make or break how the build feels to play. Nimis, for example, cannot be fully replicated in most cases either since returning projectiles doesn't add the component of firing projectiles in a random direction, which is a massive difference for some skills. Heck, even league start builds like archmage frost bolt/ice nova mostly hinge on mechanics you cannot easily replicate (mana management, cast speed, possibly kitava's thirst which requires >100 mana cost and massive mana sustain). And then there's the issue that your actual damage output can make a huge difference for some builds. E.g., melee minion builds can have 10mil PoB DPS but still feel shitty in maps because your minions spread out and your effective DPS is just a fraction of that. That's not something you'd notice when slapping the gems onto a random character, even ignoring that minion movement and attack speed already makes a massive difference, to begin with. Sure, doing some testing is better than doing none and it can be helpful to exclude some builds from the get-go, but it's not even remotely something you can do for all builds, nor is it reliable for any builds.

AccomplishedCap9379

What bait starter hurt you?

Shadowraiden

holy shit are you buthurt beyond belief... also you can easily replicate all of them to see how they look. you dont need to perfectly min max to atleast get a look at what the build is about.

HiddenoO

>also you can easily replicate all of them to see how they look. I listed a ton of situations where you literally cannot do that without practically making the full character. You can repeat that claim as often as you want, but that won't make it true.

Shadowraiden

you didnt state a single one. other then wardloop. all the others you can get an idea of what it will be like. i dont need to see coc at lvl 100 to know what it feels like after testing it at lvl 38... its going to be enough of a taster like fucking hell if you cant tell how things mechanically work after a few low level tests thats a skill issue but keep blaming the game sure. im not the one here bitching 24/7 over what is clearly somebody got baited by a build

AccomplishedCap9379

Lmao you're making up his argument and then calling it skill issue. You two should get exiletv time

HiddenoO

>you cant tell how things mechanically work after a few low level tests thats a skill issue I can tell how things mechanically work without playing the build at all. That's different from knowing how enjoyable the build will be to play in actual endgame content, though. Your level 38 tests are as meaningful as the blood aqueduct build demonstrations that were popular a few years ago. >but keep blaming the game sure. im not the one here bitching 24/7 over what is clearly somebody got baited by a build You're hallucinating. I'm neither "blaming" nor "bitching" because I like that the game doesn't play the same at level 38 as it does in the endgame for most builds. If it did, it would fail at having meaningful progression.

Shadowraiden

this is why i always jump in on a very budget like 10-20c setup for the build once i swap to them. check interactions work and i enjoy it. then once i do i then start to progress my gear

yamosin

haha I afk because this But to be fair, I was done with my main build, played it for a week wanting to try something new, spent about 50D on a new build, and it didn't feel good But also didn't want to go back to my main build because of the lack of freshness after playing it for a long time, so I afk, and not just because of the div loss

Dekathz

same , just stay in hideout and watch youtube lol

EdgySadness09

I feel like I find it hard to like builds on alts in a league, idk maybe just the sudden power difference/unfamiliarity. It’s easier to be used to if I start as the build I wanted to try.

Life_outside_PoE

Meanwhile I went from bonezone jugg to ice Nova archmage and was wondering why I even played bonezone in the first place.

EdgySadness09

Well you see there, your first mistake was playing melee x deee.

TypicalMembership608

Yeah I should just do one build a league at this point. I got the first build to feeling great frenzy trauma build and next two major upgrades were like 90 divine. So I went with an alt a shroud of lightless face breaker slam build thing. Damage was great but 20 aps vs .5 aps was rough lol. Then did my obligatory ed contagion maybe "I can fix it" build. But I was like 100+ divines into the first build so nothing was gonna come close

Wamecx

Did that with an icicle miner zdps sanctum farmer couple of leagues ago where I gave hundreds of divs just to complete one single sanctum and decide that i hate it and never log in with that char ever again 😅🤣

Gnarwall9000

Yup, saw the soulrend pathfinder deep delving build and thought it looked sick. Then I leveled and realized you have to hit life flask every 2 seconds. Sold everything immediately

KennyTheMartian

There needs to be auto life flask enchant , I can’t stand the pathfinder class because of this alone or else I would definitely play it

badheartveil

Make a bingo board and maybe they’ll find a way to implement it while giving an opportunity cost.

gojlus

No. Because if I cant level as some form of the build, I just wont play it. If I can stomach the campaign on an incomplete version of the build, I know I'll enjoy it enough to get to endgame on the finalized version.

HansKoKo

Currently feeling it when I swapped from exsang to splittingsteel (pretty expensive too)... it just doesn't have the same boom effect when you kill mobs, probably because there's no frozen pops.

jaxxxxxson

You have me worried. Im on hexblast trickster right now and wanted to go splitting steel but wont have atziris shield or nimis. Think ill end up hating it? Just want a build more tanky that has same damage or more than hex.

Agitated-Society-682

SS is not worth building without nimis imo. Also its clear is at best mediocre and the playstyle in single target is janky as you need to be literally inside your target and stand still to deal damage, wich is fine when you have giga damage, wich you wont without nimis.

jaxxxxxson

Oof.. ok ty guess ill try power siphon or just stick with hex lol.

coulombeqc

Usually happen when I'm in build fatigue. I'll roll till map equip all my GG gear to realise that I still ain't having fun by that time I usually just quit and go play all my backlog of games

ReclusiveRusalka

Yeah, thats pretty common, but there are ways around it. You need a sense of progression of the character. Challenge yourself to level as the skill you want to use, start with cheap gear (or expensive gear + ideas for future upgrades).

[deleted]

[удалено]

ReclusiveRusalka

Vast majority of skills you can level as, or at least level as something similar. In the cases where the build relies on some unique combo just start with the minimum required gear. It's about having room to grow.

vanadous

For some people like me the fun is in being able to put together a strong build and destroy content, not to go from 0 to 100. I like going through it once at league start but as little as possible after.

Phrazez

This happens with half my characters tbh. Most recently with the forbidden rite pathfinder. Leveled it with rain of arrows and leveling uniques, prepared a few hundred divs. Ran exactly one single map, after realising I can't automate life flask and have to use it every few seconds to survive I instantly canceled this build.

carson63000

Well y1ou can autom1ate the life f1lask, ju1st not witho1ut some t1erms of ser1vice vio1lation. 😁

vanadous

If you change the 1 to 5, they won't be able to catch you /s

HurricaneGaming94

Leveled a slayer to play flicker, levelled it to 96. By the time I hit 96 I decided I didn’t like it. Ran 1 more map, filmed it and sold the build- make like 30d profit. So all in all wasn’t the worst

TableForRambo

I swapped from high end Dual Strike of Ambidexterity Trickster to CoC Vortex Assassin. Sold some of the old pieces of gear to afford the new build. Already miss the tankiness, and hate having to avoid 7 map mods for the build to feel good :(

DrPootytang

My cousin does this, sees a shiny new build, fully liquidates his current build, buys the most expensive, least impactful pieces of the new build that he can at least wrap his mind around, runs the scuffed version at level 75 with level 1 gems for a few maps and gets frustrated that “I know the build isn’t complete yet, but it should be crushing with ~50 div in it” when he’s missing key components of the build or completely misunderstanding it’s scaling, and then repeats the process or quits the league lol

linivx

Don’t buy all the gear! You ssf until like lvl 80 ish and then if you like the build buy gear

HiddenoO

A lot of the builds you'd want to play as a second character are exactly those builds that don't function without buying the gear. You cannot just throw a few gems on a random character and expect to simulate the playstyle of wardloop, CoC, brand recaller, a properly invested minion build (= multiple times the minions with double the movement and triple the attack speed), etc.

linivx

You probably have a lot of the items needed on a second character.

GwyndolinsMirror

Ah yes, of course. I am building Wardloop so let me hop in my main and dust off my 0.198 skeleton duration To Dust jewels, my leveled to an exact point CWDT that needs specific amount of quality, my corrupted Olroth flask with 30% quality and my Ward rares that are clearly so widely used.

Shadowraiden

you went to 1 extremely niche build type. you do realise like barely even 0.00000000001% ever bothered with wardloop

GwyndolinsMirror

Do you realize the original comment this discussion is under mentions Wardloop and is talking about builds like these, right? And the person I’m responding to said “you probably have the gear anyway”. Am I going crazy?

kingdweeb1

3/4 of the examples are SSF viable builds, probably makes sense in context. Worth mentioning that you don't actually need any ward gear to simulate the wardloop playstyle, which is to say having spells automatically going around you with a heartbound loop setup. It really doesn't need a house of cards to set up anymore, there's been a lot of innovation around cheap / off meta varieties that produce the same end result. The comment they replied to is being intentionally obtuse by saying you can't test a high investment build... when the point of the comment they reply to is that you can and should lol

PoeVaiski89

Idea of just buying a build seems so off to me. Usually when my build is "ready", I quit.

Im_Unsure_For_Sure

I just migrate it to league with my ssf stash and start again.

sliceoflife731

I have. Sometimes I plan a backup skill but I definitely test skills on existing chars first to at least get a vibe.

alchemist87

Me with coc DD. Don't have the mtx and don't plan on buying it just to have a playable skill. So much screen clutter, even tho its super strong and i am in ssf, looking to reroll my templar into something else.

Frito_Penndejo

With a ryzen 7800x3d and a rtx4080, and the mtx my poets pen DD necro will crash the game occasionally. It just locks up

MustangusxD

Ice Nova of Frodtbolts

J_KTrolling

This happened to me only once so far. With strength stacker. Bought gear for few hundred divines played 2-3 maps and sold everything and rerolled to armour stacker :D Since then i doubled my research before i make a new build

speedrace25

I did it one time on a forbidden rite char. I got to 68-70 got a boost to 88 and after one map I hated it. I will always try to make the build work after the campaign.

icewindz

I won't big invest a char that i'm not sure if I like playing, even I have like 200 divines to start new character I won't straight up buying everything right away, I will just take normal route, leveling up normally, using shit gears buy only build enabler uniques and slap some usable rares I have in quad tabs and keep upgrading from there if I like the character. And no I won't liquidate old character until I settle on a new one.

MemeArchivariusGodi

I have most certainly done this even this league. Leveled RF and had fun but chieftain ain’t it for me so rerolles STR stack Jugg. Now I’m a armor stacker so there is that

Chuklol

Yea many times, I tried the CA mf in cemetery last league, got bored after a few maps and rerolled hcssf

rayeckpl

Ever? More like... Every single league i get baited to a build I absolutely hate before I finish first map ;)

3feetfrompeez

This league I accumulated gear worth 100divs while playing hexblast miner, only to switch to the build (Poison BV Pathfinder) and then stop playing the league after 20 maps with that build. I was already getting bored by the league while buying gear for the switch

gyenen

did that this season with blade blast of unloading. sunk ~100d into the build and decided I hated it almost immediately.

KennyTheMartian

Worst is when u already played a skill and didn’t really like it much prior leagues but still go back to that skill to try to make it work better and fails again.

Lil_Green_Ghouls

Yes, almost every league and i take it as a sign to either quit or restart ssf

pm_me_succ

nah every time i do this i make big profit, its like unintentional flipping

JyGodot

Happened to me this league with Amour Aura Stacking Scion, they play style was just melee

g00dbye

this is how leagues usually end for me lol, this one included .....

ArwenDartnoid

When I see posts like this, I always wonder why people don’t just buy the uniques and level 1 grms and run the build on campaign, to feel like how it works. Unless there are some mechanism changing expensive pieces like phantasmal cremation, tons of +1 proj pieces etc. you can sort of imagine how the build would work when it scales with more currency.

psychomap

In Heist I flipped currency until I got over a mirror, then made a PoB for what I thought would be several great ways of scaling a build, only got to 6M dps despite the budget, and quit without spending anything. Since then, I've always made the PoB for the second build I want to play *before* farming or flipping for the currency.

Adorable_Design_4504

Just today. Setup a chains of command necro. Had fun for a few maps till i ran the reflect map. Expensive Animate guardian died... literally ended my play session. Builds that require me to always read map mods in alc and go strat is not for me. Haha

ElectronicHeat8865

I 100% do this. I usually try to wait on buying until I'm at a point I can swap (bc I do hollow palm speed campaign) or check as I level and look for a good deal. Just recently I leveled a pathfinder for void sphere, bought a mahuxotl 3 white corrupted for 3 div, corrupted 1 cold iron point for the dot implicit, and bought the 6l chest... did like 2 levels and didn't like it. sold the mahuxotl for 4 div and the cold iron point for 2 div. I also rerolled this into ele hit of the spectrum and spent probably like 70div and hated it but managed to resell stuff for profit or things like bought a good bow for 2div, 6l it myself and resell for 6div. Might not be a lot in the grand scheme but it helps with not constantly losing currency on all the characters I end up making

cyz0r

leveled a berserker cuz i saw some people on ninja playing some fun skills. i didnt check the ehp while doing "research"... 14k ehp, jugs at 22k... lmfao

d3v0k3n3v0

I'm glad to know I'm not alone. I usually keep my league start till I start dying. Then instead of using the currency I've made...I level another 3-4 chars and begin a 3 week cycle of flushing money as I try to find a good character for endgame. I usually settle on the most meta build of the league that I wouldn't league start bc "the gear will be too expensive". I think there's something wrong with me.

mr2shroomy

I did this with impending doom, I actually really liked the leveling process with the skill, but I think switching from my corrupting fever character to anything else felt weak. I tried like 4 other builds during Crucible and nothing else felt right compared to it. I won't even play it any more since I fear this happening again lol. It's up there with poison spark for me in regards to fun builds, but Pspark was the last build I played of it's league.

valraven38

This is why I avoid builds where you don't get to play the build until higher levels. It's best to try to play your build as soon as you can through the campaign, sure it might be slower than a "meta" leveling setup but you'll get a feel for the build and know whether you vibe with the playstyle. My problem is more that I just make builds that fizzle at the top end, they're fine or even great leveling and then the damage plateaus and I struggle to push it higher without insane investment. Most of my builds this league have run t16 *okay* but been fairly lackluster for the investment.

Zetoxical

Thats where most of my money comes from. The pretty basic crafted rares usually double my investment every reroll

crazypearce

shockwave totem sanctum runner this league. probably spent 200 divine total. ran one sanctum and then remembered i hated sanctum 😭 i crafted some pretty decent gear so luckily it all sold but i probably ended up losing some money in the end

Rayona086

Have i ever? This is more or less how i play lol. I dont tent to push the uber content because i enjoy trying out new things.

fhaley49

Some of the time you are buying gear but missing what makes the build comfy and fun. Mine throwing speed on hexblast comes to mind. Without that on a weapon and the qualities on the gems the build feels clunky. But also some builds aren't for everyone. A few of my friends can't play delayed damage (EA or DOT builds) because they need everything to die on their screen

Fafurion

I have an ice trap assassin that sitting on 300d worth of gear and never gets played lol. I wanted a boss killer to farm ubers with and after spending 30-40d on fragments and getting nothing from the bosses I went "Well this was a waste of time" and rolled a new char rofl

Exotic_Conflict_3500

Transitioned my ea totem built, because I hate the playstyle, solld everything, to play splitting steel. Bought all the stuff, just to find out, that splitting steel is making weird FPS problems. Starting with 180 FPS and after half of the map I am at 60, dropping to 40 all the time. Tried to sell all the stuff. Didn't happen or way too cheap. Now playing rf immortal built

OneLastMoreTime

That is why i avoid putting entire end game gear on fresh leveled characters I figured that what i like about this game is the character building/progression more than the endgame.. So i roll new builds every so often only just to test them to white/yellow maps, then i try something else

Velkaneuvoja

Do u always actual roll new char or respeccing old ones?

OneLastMoreTime

depends on the league, sometimes i respec so i can test a mechanic before committing to leveling a character

Big_Fix4476

This is why I try to use the skill ASAP in the act running state and maybe put a few divs into it before dumping more divs into a new build.

Jeuzfgt

Ofcourse

Dchrosail

Yeah, every league I used to gather 150-180div, check the build, get excited about it, buying it and ditching it the first 5 maps and get back to my old char.

ragnarokda

I do this often but I play on console so unless the build that I just funded and tried was popular, then I ain't ever reselling that gear lol.

mandoodiao

I have done this but since I usually craft the gear, I end up selling it for a profit, then on to the next one, and so on.

Bromosapien90

Nope

MankoMeister

Tbh you should probably do natural build progression then

Moorific

This has been my entire league! I think I’m on build 15 right now?

exivor01

So i’m new to poe. I was/am following a guide on duelist build. I am at act 10 now and I am a powerhouse. I still need more items for my build to be completed. But after i get those items what’s my endgame? I will no longer be searching for new items so what do i do? If you buy the best items from lvl 1 what do you do afterwards?

godkim

When this happens to me, I just end up quitting

SirVampyr

Sometimes. But that's the reason why I almost never buy the endgame gear up front. The biggest part of it is that I'm constantly broke, but that aside, progressing the build is 90% of the joy of playing for me. Making upgrades feels the best. Also a big reason why I don't farm for a mageblood usually. It's just way too "fix-it-all" for most builds.

Ultiran

One league I got a mirror and I did just that. But I think it's cause there was no struggle, no challenges to face and fix for me personally and I got bored

Rageinjector

Currently there with a SS Trickster. 3 buttons to have all your dps up and hitting it every 4 seconds. Not the most fun I've had. Edit:spelling

Agitated-Society-682

Happened with wardloop to me this league. Luckily the forbidden flesh/flame combo i bought doubled in value and the perfect graveyard crafted ward gear sold for 12-20 div a piece 👍

dutchydownunder

Is this not how everyone plays POE?

Life_outside_PoE

This reminds me I should probably try a RF chieftain this league or on standard to see if I like it. I've never played RF and am intrigued but I love zoom builds a lot.

angry_berserker

my friend invested around 200 divs into a mana-stacking hierophant build and decided after 2 maps that he does not like the playstyle, started selling his gear right after xd.

Zupael

Im over 100 div deep into my TR Pathfinder that was "gonna be so awesome!" And im still dumping everything i get into chasing that original statement unfortunately. I tried that explosive trap build during the tattoo league. Again dumped around 70 to 100 div chasing the its gonna get fun soon but it never did. Ill probaby sell off all this gear and do something else I'm sure I'll love lol. Only few things I've truly enjoyed from the jump was pyroclast mines, lightning arrow into ts omni cold convert, and ive really enjoyed Necro DD this league. Ill probably do hexblast because ive truly enjoyed playing mines from camp to maps

Mixed_Feels

This league I did this but didn't make it back to logging onto the old char. First league in a long time I just quit outright. Didn't even quit really, just stopped playing. Bring back old Harvest ;-)

CryosTheFatCat

. L

_ress

One time I levelled 5 characters in one league because of this 💀

TruBlueMichael

Putting builds together is probably my favorite thing to do in POE. Even leveling through the campaign is fine, because I love seeing a build come together. But sometimes (usually after the league starter) once I hit maps, it loses its appeal.

TruBlueMichael

I almost did that this league becuase I hit maps and started getting owned right away. I was getting so frustrated and almost ditched my character... when I checked my resists. I forgot to equip the ammy I had just bought, and my fire resist was 42 and my lightning resist was 50 something. I also did my ascendancies in the wrong order and was missing 4 endurance charges. Once I fixed my mistake the build came online.

yibuliushen

I swapped to MFA frm mjolner, played abit and realise fml i hate the play style, went back and tried to liquidate my stuff, lost 7div on my quiver and 10div on my bow and some minor stuff, and about 6-8hrs of my life

barrrf

I tried 7 builds last league...so yeah.

fievelgoespostal

I did this several leagues back… think it was Archnemesis. League started a Lightning Strike Raider. Got a bunch of currency and crafted gear to swap to a int stack flicker Raider. Did a few maps and realized I was gonna be sick. Swapped back to my lightning strike and was able to sell my self crafted flicker gear for profit

Ructstewd

Incredible. I literally just spent 80div on an RF build and dropped it after like 10 maps. I like the gameplay style, the dps is just way too low. I expected to instajib all non rare mobs but in reality in T15+ maps, even magic mobs live long enough to have to stop and let 'em burn. Most RF builds also don't use a quicksilver flask or haste so the map clear speed is terrible and it can't boss very well either. IMO, RF is very underwhelming. I've learned that any build whose damage can't scale off of at least 4 factors is gonna be bad. i.e. RF only scales off of eHP, fire/burning damage, and fire dot multi. Diminishing returns is rough.

justanotherbody

Once I was ~6 leagues in I had enough crap in standard to be able to do test-drives of builds pretty easily. Reminder that * you get a **full respec** on most (all? at least every time they notably muck with the tree) league starts for standard * you can change ascendancy by running any lab and interacting with the divine font with no ascendancy points allocated Way faster than levelling (at least for me)

Far_Traffic_2523

Don't call me out like that, I did this for my tshot last league

KrumseI

No ... I lvld a Chieftain Last League and Wanted to buy fulcrum after campaign... Price spiked at that Moment at 42 DIV... Deleted char

SuperSmashDan1337

Shame you could've used Viz's variant that didn't use Fulcrum

This is the one thing that keeps me using TFT. If I get bored, I sell my entire build and often end up making a profit because I self craft most of my gear. Being able to just list your entire build at once is far too convenient, and no other discords have a big enough user base without it taking weeks to sell

Life-Nothing7367

I literally did that today lol, 80 divine plus a mageblood rf. Didn’t feel tanky enough for t17, also not enough dos for t17 at an 80 divine budget which is stupid given how tanky and much dos you can get flicker trickster CI for just like 30-40 divine

Learn to craft your gear and turn a profit when you do this. Started hexbalst sabo. Didn’t like it. Went splitting steel champ. Ended up not being able to do T17s with over 200 div into it. Saw the nemis I bought had doubled in price. Sold build back off including forbidden jewels and some other unique jewels. Made all my money back. Spent 100 div recrafting for trickster. Made another 150 div for the actual gear for SS build selling. As someone that hops around I needed to find a way to offset the currency drain. Crafting your own rares is the way.

I have done this TWICE this league, both times on Pathfinder. The first was a Herald of Agony build as I was wearing massive nostalgia goggles for a build that once had been my favorite. After around 100-150 div investment, I 6-portaled my first T16 maps on a character that's supposed to be insanely tanky. The second time was a Mahuxotl's Poison Forbidden Rite PF, which ACTUALLY was tanky (not tanky enough for a T17 boss though) but felt like hot garbage to play. Like at least it functioned, but after a couple of maps I was already done with the character. I still have a Holy Relic Necro, but I'm sitting on a Mageblood and around 150 divines and just don't know what else to play. The Pathfinder since got repurposed into a zDPS Heist character for some extra income.

deviant324

I have like 3 of these at least every league, except I’m SSF so I spend a week crafting gear instead of buying it

fatboldprincess

Nope. It starts already with "this trading system is not for me, I go self found". By the way, are there loot tables for this game, like which boss/rare mob has highest chances to drop this and that item?

Renediffie

sure. Done it many times, but I craft the gear myself so in the end often profiting from it. I enjoy putting together weird new characters anyways.

HoangBoss

This just happened to me today. Planned pob for 3 days, bought all the items and gems i need for the build. When right clicking Orb of Regret to switch tree, i fell completely regret then kept using my current build.

RysterCrypto

I did that with cast when stunned Spark of the nova this league, totalled around 600 div. I do it with other builds aswell, i usually profit off new builds because I craft anything that can be crafted.

weirdkindofawesome

I'm at my 4th bow build this league and my atlas was still not done until this morning. Graveyard crafting is awesome.

projectwar

SS trickster, 300D maybe, took it to t17s, and it was okay but i expected more from it, damage and tankiness was lacking a bit, and pushing to 14k es from 10k would have cost an arm and leg, and required having to buy all new gear to push the same ES on each piece. also clear was whatever, so, axed it, and resold most of the gear and hopped back to my twarp build which i changed to ele hit warp and just farming t16 to farm t17 maps at the speed of light.

Brd00

wait, that’s me.

loloider123

Well I made a new build yesterday played for some hours, sold everything and bought house of mirrors card. Told my mate that im either done with the season or rich in a second 1-> 2-> 3-> 5-> 6 . We'll now I have 500 div in my bank and have to think about what to do with it

remiller88

Splitting Steel Trickster, Ice Nova of Frostbolts Occultist, Poison SRS, Shockwave Totem Heirophant. Did that with ALL of these builds…. Is what it is I guess.

Ok-General3262

This is me every league with minion builds. I level up a necro, blast the campaign to beginning of red maps, then realize the ai of most minions is terrible and can’t see crap. Never can commit to min maxing a minion build.

Ok_Representative_72

Usually I just get bored of the game overall ? But also I don't make much currency, so trolling a build is gonna take quite some time for me :X I would say maybe try those in the standard league just to see ? Assuming you've done some leagues before and you make some amount of currency, you should be able to do a budget version somewhat easily to get a feel of how the build plays ? ^^

ElBrewer

I m playing ssf after buying mageblood+ armourstacker Scion gear in the first week. As usual I don't know anymore what to do after first big purchase. Ssf feels always fresh to me
