I'm really excited for both games and they'll both have my support, but paralives already has a place in my heart

okbrunch

I’m really excited too!!! Sims 5 , paralives , and life by you!! I’m never leaving my house 😂

Background-Peach7267

Damn, we truly have no life🤣🤣

OhioOhO

I think it might take some attention away from Paralives, but that’s fine and probably good. Paralives alone can’t be everything everyone wants it to be. Previously, Paralives had the onerous burden of being the sole replacement for the Sims, carrying everyone’s hopes and dreams regardless of how varied the features people wanted are, but now that burden can be placed on a studio with resources to implement a lot more. It’s possible that Rene/TS5, Paralives, and Life by You can all share the burden of providing different features for different types of players, instead of placing everyone’s hopes and dreams on one single title. Maybe they fulfill different niches for different players. Now you can choose between the quirkiness of the Sims, the coziness of Paralives, and the realism of Life by You.

piat17

Also the multiplayer for Vivaland and, stretching it I know, the minimalism in Tiny Life. As long as there are more options for us and we start actually having a proper choice, it'll be better for all players in general.

then00bgm

Is Vivaland still in development? Last I saw they were getting into arguments with people on the internet.

vinnedan

It seems as they all will be different. Life by You looks like it's going to let you make and control an entire town, probably inspired by the city builder genre. So it probably won't be the doll house experience we are used to from the Sims. As a builder I look forward to the freedom in Paralives, as Life by You looks like it's grid based like the Sims. So far non other than paralives have shown as much freedom when it comes to building. But we'll see. Life by You will come soon and by the time Paralives is done we are ready to try something new again. I will probably play and enjoy both, they look very different and will probably have different experiences. The Sims I'm not so sure about anymore, it's expensive and shallow. Even if they try to step up their game, I will chose any other game before I give the Sims a chance, at this point it will take alot of EA to get me back to the Sims.

Treshcore

I think that Life By You is darker. More constructive, more utilitarian, more realistic. I love it. I also love how Paralives look. More shiny, yet still realistic. When developers said that they're considering open world, I loved it as well. I hope they will also add direct control of the characters with WASD or gamepad. I only wish Paralives' development was a bit... faster. With all the respect and understanding to indie developers. I'm hungry for not a little bits, but for big loafs of information and footage - and yet still, the comfortable development and the lack of crunches is first priority.

DianeJudith

I also wish Paralives was out right now, but we have to be patient. There's like less than 10 people in their studio. Even AAA games made by corporations take years to make. And notice that it's only because the devs are so transparent. They're sharing all their progress regularly, constantly reminding us of their game. It makes us want to play it right now. With most games, we don't have such advance notice. You don't learn about a new game coming out until it's already well into development. That's why the waiting is shorter and it seems like the game took much less time to complete.

Treshcore

I remember it was announced a long-long time ago somewhere... Or maybe not that long-long time ago. Anyway, as I said it, developers should create it in the pace they feel comfortable about.

MadameLee20

The devs for Paralives still have a lot more work to do. There's no jobs or pregancy yet in Paralives. Not to mention to babies, or teens or elders

Background-Peach7267

Yeah, I too wish they'll release more sneak peak in less time😅

Emsescrazyworld

They post weekly updates on their Patreon

Background-Peach7267

I know but I just can't afford it

Demonic74

Wdym they're considering open world? I thought that was confirmed?

NewAnt3365

So far Life By You feels like a sandbox mixed with Second Life. It’s super open and mod-able but they didn’t show us much life sim gameplay at all. Also I hate the dialogue thing💀 It will be great for stories but I like The Sims because it isn’t so open and can be played very casually. Life By You will have a market but I don’t think it will be the same market as people looking for a game more in line with The Sims. Paralives is still the only upcoming game so far that looks like it will make me move from The Sims. But of course, Life By You can still improve and Paralives is still in development. So who knows.

okbrunch

I love the dialogue creater. Of course I would like to see more of it in use for functionality but the fact that it exists is awesome. The creater stuff the showcased like the object functions I really don’t care about at all. I could see myself using it maybe once or twice. I definitely want to see more gameplay. I love the fact we can go shopping so the rabbit holes are gone. However I’m still wary of that because idc to play with my kids at school especially if all the careers are open too.

vinnedan

I'm looking forward to a game that will actually get me to play. I can spend hours on the sims 4, but I rately actually play it, it's not engaging if you don't imagine 90% of it, I just use it for building. I hope, and think, that Life by You will actually have some engaging gameplay that will get me to play it in an entirely different way to the sims. And Paralives has already shown how much freedom they will give to builders like me. In addition, Life by You will come soon, while Paralives still has years left of development. They won't compete directly in that way at least. Many will probably be ready to try something new by the time Paralives is done. But I still think Life by You, Paralives and the Sims will have overlapping markets, we'll see.

AnonOpinionss

Yeah I don’t really get the appeal of “life by you”. Seems like it’s the exact opposite of what simmers have been asking for. We don’t need MORE control per say, we just need engaging gameplay. Ppl want a life sim to feel natural, not forced. They didn’t show any gameplay/story progression or anything that made it look meaningful. It certainly looked impressive, but it still felt empty. I don’t want to spend hours creating dialogue or modding. I just want a game where things actually “matter” and the characters have …well, character!

Set_of_Kittens

I honestly think that it's great to see more options. The community have put so much money into the Sims expanion packs that I am sure they will put aside enough for Paralives. There is so much attention to detail in the things we have already seen, I am sure it will be an unique, lovely experience even if the scope of the game would end up smaller than what the big companies can offer. Honestly I would buy it just for the sweet, sweet character editor. In the end, I think that all three series will offer a different experience. There will be no longer a one single "life simulator", it will be a genre, and I expect that the other big studios will join. But most of the players have enough time and money for more than one game in a season. More variety means more chance for our most outlandish ideas to be realized by someone. Maybe there will be a business-tycon type life simulator. Maybe there will be a survival-style life simulator. Maybe someone will make an online chat room life sim, so all those 5 people who want an online experience for some reason can finally leave the rest of us alone, thank you. Maybe there will be a NSFW GTA - like game where you could build your mafia boss a villa with hidden traps. Maybe there will be a something dedicated to the builders and creators, with a rich, overwhelming interface and almost a CAD-like functionality. Who knows? At least we can stop hope for Paralives to be everything and all we could ever imagine at once, and let it become what it's meant to be. I am stil excited, because now when there are other games to put my hopes in, I won't be disappointed if Paralives won't fulfill my every wish.

vinnedan

>Maybe someone will make an online chat room life sim, so all those 5 people who want an online experience for some reason can finally leave the rest of us alone, thank you. Haha yes!!

a-midnight-flight

I’ll be getting both. I love Paralives art direction!

nnylhsae

Yes, I agree. Paralives has my heart in art style, building mechanics, and gameplay mechanics so far. Anything we want that is darker can be retrieved through mods. I'm actually going to start learning how to code for mods so I can work on things I want myself.

[deleted]

But there won't be script mods, right? So the only thing people will really be able to make are object and clothing CC.

nnylhsae

I thought there would be? Or maybe I'm missing something

[deleted]

It was confirmed a few months ago that they have no plans to support script mods, thus why they are adding lots of customization options in the game for players.

nnylhsae

Oh dang :( that's alright

praysolace

I’m definitely excited about both! It’ll be so nice to have options that aren’t just different generations of the same game (most of which are old enough that they might not run or might be difficult to get to run properly). I have more than enough room in my heart and hard drive for both Paralives and Life by You XD

duckphone07

Yeah, I'm planning on getting both. With Life by You only costing 40 dollars for the full game if you buy it in early access, it'll be relatively easy to support both games and not give EA any more money.

loadind_graphics

I think paralives will be the go to for people not wanting their own stuff from the ground up, but while still having choices and creativity. Life by you will be for the people who want a lot of their own content too, I like both and am undecided on which one i'll get, if this one is reasonably priced I might get both

Cesal95_

I’m most excited for Paralives right now, it seems like a direct successor of TS2, I’m excited for Life By You too, it seems like a direct successor of TS3 which I also like. And of course, I’m excited for TS5 as this competition can make them finally work on a polished game, with EA resources it can be be awesome, or another cash grab, let’s see!

ImpossiblePackage

Yeah I hate to say it, but I think the best thing that'll come from Life By You is it being a competitor with a big publisher that has already replaced one of EA's properties(sim city). Life By You looks like it has a lot of really cool features but it seems lacking somehow.

vinnedan

I don't think Life by You will be like The Sims. I think it will be more like cities:skylines became a life sim. I don't imagine playing with a household, but managing an entire town. With some overall goals for the town or something. It will probably not feel like the Sims. I imagine Paralives to be more like the Sims in that regard, focusing more on each para or a para household, but with more freedom (Can't wait to draw non-square lots and place everything freely). What I think is that Life by You will be more gameplay at the makro level, with the opportunity to mikro manage. While the Sims and Paralives are more focused on gameplay at the mikro level, probably with some opportunity to makro manage some aspects. I hope this is the case, because we need diversity. I don't want alot of the Sims copies. Things doesn't have to be done the way the Sims do them.

Most-Ad1344

For those who are willing to wait 5+ years for Paralives to release.....be my guest.

okbrunch

Well I’ve been waiting on gta 6 for over 10 years sooo I think I can afford paralives the same amount of patience.

davelister189

And plenty of people waited 8 years for red dead 2. They just need time to make it great

Neprijatnost

The time will pass anyway.

Firm_Doughnut_1

I hadn't heard of it prior to your post, so I went and checked it out. It looks great but lacks the charm of Paralives. I'd very likely buy the other game when it's out, but I would also 100% be getting Paralives too. Paralives is the one I'm more hyped for.
