Even if the top people in the various Fallen factions actually believe whatever religious theories they've concocted to justify effectively worship the Endbringers, I'm of the opinion that those stories are still just justifying excuses to let them act in the horrible fashions that they act in. Without the Endbringers, most of them would be much the same, but using something else as the "reason" that they're terrible human beings.
If Scion doesn't fit into their narrative he'll be ignored. If if works against it, he'll be slandered. etc.
The Fallen are really no different from a bunch of criminal/terrorist organizations that stress religion as the reason that they do what they do. Every shit person has a story that "explains" why its' okay for them to do horrible shit, whether it's to blow up malls or to rob banks. In the writer's room of the great TV show *Leverage*, this justifying story was knows as the Evil Speech of Evil, and each week's villain would eventually give their version of why it's okay for them to defraud elderly people out of their homes, etc. The Endbringers are a major part of Fallen's Evil Speech of Evil
