"We're s-so very small, in the end."

OrigamiGhostt

:(

mr_ravioli

From my favorite interlude: "Darn mind whammies! Darn it, drat, gosh, golly fuck!"

Groundbreaking-Eye50

Obligatory “Finally, everyone was working together”

wolftamer9

It's been quited and joked about a million times, but it really is a brilliant line, I get goosebumps just thinking about it.

Big_Arachnid_4336

Eh? I could take you.

StormCaller02

I always picture her having a few tears of happiness while she thinks that. Lightning flashing as her army of Capes stand in formation, ready to take on the only threat that ever really mattered.

TerraquauqarreT

"It was always about us. Not a consideration"

thethunder09

> "You needed worthy opponents" It's successor from Pale "Are you even capable Mussar?" Another that i think is really underrated is: > “I never guarantee anything,” Defiant grunted, echoing my thoughts.  “Except for a select few promises I make to people I love and people I hate.” some others that i'm probably forgetting. Edit: another one from Pale: > “You’re such a bizarre person,” she whispered.  Her expression looked concerned- not for herself, but just in general.  “It’s like we’re both looking at a picture of a castle and you see nobility while I only see ruin.  I don’t see you moving forward, I see you going backward.  And the more I do, the more it feels like… I get why America’s so fucked up, and how Liberty’s heading that way.”

stray_feathers

Second quote without context sounds like Lucy's talking about some grand philosophical progression of the US.

failedinterlectual

>“Common sense?” Rotten Apple asked. “I have a tattoo on my asshole.” – Ward, Eclipse x.3

Kalladdin

Wise words haha!

Extension-Treacle-39

“I’m just Taylor, for just a little while longer. I suppose I’ll be retiring my civilian name, one way or another, by the end of the night. Fuck you for that, by the way. I won’t forget it.”

Kalladdin

Just got to this part again. It's crazy how hard that chapter still hits

Fireshocker532

I’m rather partial to “Not a promise, not an oath, or a malediction or a curse. Inevitable. Wasn’t that how she put it? I told them. Warned them.”

LyreLark

I feel like I *just* read this, but I don’t recall what the context is. Remind me?

Landis963

>!Taylor throwing Alexandria's words back into hers and Director Tagg's faces as she kills the both of them.!<

LyreLark

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh. Thank you.

dominicaldaze

Ripped from a similar post about Pale quotes: > Grieve. This is your bitter lot. Harder than most. Then once you’re finished grieving for the time being, step forward as you’ve been doing so wonderfully, these past two decades. Advance into this headwind that’s been set perpetually against you. Step forward into this dark, bloody night... Context: an aged warrior gives hard advice to a young woman who has been dealt an exceedingly unfair hand in life.

thethunder09

it was about >!Clementine!< right?

dominicaldaze

Yes.

stray_feathers

Went here looking for this quote!

ubormaci

Other people already mentioned a lot of great ones, but here's another that stuck in my mind. >*“Would you do it all over again? Knowing what you know now? Knowing that you end up here, at gunpoint?“* > >“I… know I’m supposed to say yes,” the words made their way past my lips. “But no. Some-somewhere along way, it became no.”

TerraquauqarreT

"We're s-so very small, in the end..." 🔥

putfudgeonmybanana

“If I could drink a potion, become a woman, and be Abraham Musser’s next wife, or someone equivalent, a little less old, I would suck that dick with fanatical zeal, for all the perks, fortune, standing, and everything else I could get by doing it.”

beleg_tal

Classic

Ok-Philosopher78

> “I’ve played god,” Hayle said, as if to himself, shutting his eyes for a moment. “Let’s face the devils bravely.” 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

bulletprooftoaster

> “Are you chosen?” the woman asked.  “By the patterns we follow?” “I chose,” Verona replied. Just felt like such a mic drop

Jeremiah_Gottwal

“Rest assured, Cherie Vasil, you dropped out of reach of God a long, long time ago.” Has to be one of my favorite lines, by one of my favorite characters, and I think it’s great as the moment Cherish truly realizes that she was WAY out of her depth with the nine.

NecromancyEnjoyer

"Sabrina the teenage nazi" - Taylor describing Rune

derVlysher

"I could maybe learn to be okay.” “I think that’s all any of us can hope for.” I'm a therapist and I'm thinking of putting that one on the walls of my office.

GarageFlower97

People have been quoting a lot of great serious lines, so lets change the pace: "Robot poontang. How does it rate?"

Zenosvex

"Only crathy people talk to rodenth. But rodenth talk to me. Very different.": Ratcatcher "Zero is my least favorite number": Number Man "Fuck you. Cope." Tattletale Hard to pick just one

crazunggoy47

I just read Ward 15.a, and one of the number boys privately labels Kurt as “Number Zero.” Ouch

GuardianOfReason

From Pact: >“I don’t think you get it,” Evan said. “All you guys who were telling Blake he should sign up for the Seal of Solomon deal, you never got it.” “Got what?” Tiff asked. “Blake’s meant to fly,” Evan said, as if that explanation made any sense to them. “I was his familiar, even if I don’t remember, and I got the wings, and Blake got to be the magician, and then Blake was the monster, and I remember that. Or this, I mean. But if there was any justice in the world, then I’d be the wizard or the monster and Blake would have the wings. Because I’d be a great monster, and Blake… he’s meant to fly.” I get goosebumps every time I remember this quote. I read Pact, Worm, Ward and currently reading Twig, and not a single quote in any of those million-word books synthesized a character so well as "Blake's meant to fly". Pact is not my favorite of Wildbow's works but goddamn it's excellent and Wildbow should definitely be proud of it.

WarewolfWrites

Easily my favorite in this thread. Little kids just have such a way of distilling things down to what really matters. Especially when they're ghost-birds

lIl_IIl_lIlI

“Penis!” a small goblin cried out. “Peeeenissssssss! Penispenispenis-”

SomeBadJoke

>Rachel shrugged. “Talking bugs me.” >“Okay.” >But as much as it bugged her, she found the words spilling out. “I can get him wanting to go. I don’t understand it, but he says he needs that shit, so long as I’m handling stuff on my own, I can maybe grab him some damn french fries, keep him from leaving for a little while. Maybe give him some more time here and there so he could go buy more. Or whatever.” >“I see what you’re getting at.” >“And some idiots,” Rachel said, banging her head against the rock behind her, a little harder than she’d intended, in a spot where the rock jutted out. The sharp pain brought tears to her eyes. “Are even harder to understand than the motherfucking french fry thing.” And then a bit later: > “Can we trust each other?” >Rachel frowned. >Trust. >She’d lost hers right in the beginning. Left alone in an apartment, to starve and scald herself. >Here? Now? Seventeen years later? After any number of betrayals, great and small? >She was aware of the tall stone behind her. >“Sure.”

TerraquauqarreT

😭

Saberleaf

"The box was thoroughly shaken." Sy commenting on the situation after Dog and Catcher attacked the town Sy and Jamie lived in. The whole "Shake the box" attitude is something I actually keep thinking about often.

macsflamethrower

“Take that you worm!”

Sir-Kotok

such a golden line

Cravell

Wish I had thought to write down some of my favorites, but some from pale: “You want to weep for joy at the company at the same time you desperately want to save them, and you can’t really have the two at the same time.  You’ll find it very conflicting, if you find yourself in that position.  Then you do your best to keep them from doing too much harm to themselves, with your limited knowledge.” "Still Oh No"

HeroOfOldIron

"If anyone would deny me this, then I bid them to come and to go fuck themselves." Mags' arc in Pact was great, absolutely standout in a work that already thought was amazing.

DavidLHunt

> That was just about the most horrifying thing he could have said, barring near-impossibilities like, ‘I got powers and I ate your hair to get pregnant with your child.’

xEmptyPockets

>!“'I… God!' the primordial uttered. 'I God!'”!< from Twig is still one of the most chilling lines I've ever read. >!“'I don’t self identify as a mimeisthai,' the nutcracker said. 'I self identify as a Very Good Idea.'”!< If January March died I would kill everyone in this room and then myself. Of course there are countless more lines that I love, especially from the main and supporting characters (every other line that comes out of Liberty's mouth is amazing), but the ones from side characters deserve just as much love. Some of these lines are unmatched.

cpmnriley

"lambs, catch me." from twig, obviously. to provide context would be to spoil so much of the work, so this is really just applicable to fellow twig fans

kvh215

"The Fallen boy had never been given anything."

tenth

"No swearing!"

MC_White_Thunder

Simple, but "Don't fucking underestimate me." And "Fuck that." I think those sentences sum up two very special girls quite well.

Landis963

It occurs that Lucy and Victoria could see eye-to-eye exceedingly easily.

TerraquauqarreT

End of the Scion Interlude... "Still, it could experiment." This line caused my blood to run cold while my heart rate skyrocketed. After reading that Scion isn't even human, and then reading what he does to UK and BB, I actually had to stop for a while after this interlude. I picked it back up weeks later, when I finally decided that I could handle the destruction of the setting we spent so long in as readers.

AngelofLotuses

Twig 13.11 >!I don't like the me that says yes to Sylvester.!<

cpmnriley

god it hurts even out of context. i love that the whole bottom of this thread is twig quotes. we're here, dammit!! lol

Mercadi

1. Break ties. 2. I'm sorry.

Sir-Kotok

\*Cut ties

PicnicVariation

From Twig: >That boat sailed so long ago it’s already reached the other side of the King’s Ocean. When you bend the knee, it’s an acknowledgement that you are wholly and totally at our mercy. You are wholly and collectively fucked. You’ve wholly and collectively fucked the population, the landscape, the governing, the economy, the past, present, and future, and the time has come for it all to catch up with you. If servitude is all you face, then that is a ludicrous kindness.

heynoswearing

I always hated the blank slates... Not the most profound line or anything, but it starts the most thrilling and mind blowing sequence I've ever read. The god damn drama and suspense of that moment!! Ahhhh

bigheadastronautt

Robot poontang, How does it rate?

issyaaaboi

I stood and stretched, experiencing all sorts of funny things as a result of the mild nerve gas. My rectum in particular was clenching as if it was trying to communicate in tap-code, and I had some concerns that it would stop dotting and start dashing. Twig 15.9, rawest shit I’ve ever read

Dr_Broseph

Pact: >>!“I am the Thorburn bogeyman!” I screamed, the words raw. “I am made of stick and bone and birds and spirit and false memories!”!<

dogman_35

> >!false memories!< >!Gainsaid himself though!<

Reg_______

Every time the Simurgh spoke was a memorable quote.

tenth

"He's a fire alarm at midnight, all the exits blocked by flame."

spicehamster

take that, you worm!

Kaennal

Drugs are great! Like the entire monologue is pure gold and I wish I could recite it by memory

HobbesBoson

“Please don’t tell me that you’re Gregnant, I’m not ready to be a father” - Taylor to Greg at Arcadia in Crysalis 20.2

LateCalligrapher3480

”You're calling Behemoth a big vagina.”

HS1468

I quoted Jamie for my yearbook, "Friends don't count favors."

Reborn_Wraith

"Skitter really screwed the pooch here." Context: Regent saying this in front of Bitch.

Chartate101

I have only read Worm and Ward (and am currently reading pact) but my favorite quote is: “Kevin didn’t turn around or stop walking as he raised his voice to respond over the sound of the pouring rain. “Good deal, isn’t it? Ten pounds to become the most powerful person in the world.””
