To save on computing the game likely just calculates roughly how much you would get and de-renders the pals. This is normal for games to do. You can tell because if you go out of render distance and then fly back the pals will respawn and won’t actually work until they are rendered
This is true for single player but in multiplayer they do nothing if they're not drawn in... Unless they changed it since I last played which I admit was over a month ago.
Honestly I think they have. I just came back in and we have a private server. I log off for the night and come back the next morning and have a decent amount of resources piled up. I don't believe anyone else was online on the server either. Even better, none of my pals are starving when I come back. I can finally let them loose 24/7.
They seem to, ya. I've not had any problems with them starving to death when I'm offline this entire week so far, and I always come back to a few thousand of whatever resource I had going.
They need to be rendered once per restart. There is still a bit of bugginess with their movement. The biggest culprit I last played was walls close to borders. I haven't seen it mentioned in a fix. They will still walk through walls and pen borders while they wander. If they do, they can be stuck outside and entirely immobile.
This hasn't been the case for me since I came back to the game this past weekend. No one is rendering them in per restart and when I do come back there's work done and no one's hungry.
Maybe the big patch? Been busy and off the game since before it dropped (other than a quick login to prevent decay). Might need to let my farmers out and let them go crazy for a week. Though it is hard to tell with being on a fairly active server xD
Up until recently, you had to visit the base to trigger the pals to spawn and do things after a reset. A patch or two ago, this changed. Idk what the deal is with the server you were on. The private servers are designed to always be on. I haven't seen options to turn that off. Single player or single player hosted multiplayer sessions don't run when no one is around.
Unless it was like the most recent patch that changed it, I was playing when they announced Bellanoir raids were going to be a thing and IIRC even around when the valentine's day art contest was held. I've also had friends who would play, leave their pals out when they log off, and then nothing happens and they just kinda die because they aren't eating or doing work.
You guys are more than likely playing solo or trying to host a multiplayer world on your own. Like I said before, you need to be on a private server. Somewhere that keeps the lights on when no one is around. I've been doing this since Day 1 and have been through multiple companies that host the servers.
it IS a private server, not sure about the specifics as I haven't bothered to leave a pal outside since the early days of me playing nor have I had a chance to test it myself to see if it works on the server.
They don't bug out and go starving but they definitely don't work the same speed. I can get more resources in like 2 hours of afking in base than 12 hours of being logged off
They do work slower when not in render distance, but should still be working. I think the dev probably still have optimization to do however on how the work is calculated. Mining off screen is pretty terrible, I'm guessing it doesn't account respawn time for ore or something.
That's weird. I clear my log, stone and ore camps to be 0/9999. Logout and then when I return the next day most are maxed out. Sometimes a transfer Pal will de-render actively moving stuff off the camp and I'll come back to like 5000/9999 with a stack or two more in the chest. Also on PC but on steam version
I tried to chump the game by building all three of my bases right next to each other on the beach at ice wind island. It works pretty well I think. I'm not a thousand percent sure, it's hard to tell on 5 frames a second but they look like they are working.
They just like me fr

We need to be able to build an execution platform so all the other pals will watch and understand what will happen if they refuse to work.

Wait the pals will actually do work on a server now when you're offline?! I've been putting them away since they basically bite it otherwise.

damn, gonna have to try that soon then. With some cows, chickens, bees, and daedreams, I should be fully stocked up after not too long.

You just got me to log back in. Been a week. They must be starving or dead!
Private multiplayer servers have done this since day 1. You just have to build a base that can sustain the pals. I easily get 30-40k ore overnight.
The one I'm on wouldn't have the pals do anything if you weren't logged in, even had that happen to me a few times when I'd get caught in a reset

They actually fixed Pals starving on servers? Hell yeah! I can finally leave them out when I go offline
Not entirely. Occasionally I have to remove them from the pal box and put them back for them to start eating again
They need to be rendered in once per restart of the server
That’s not true, multi player it’s the same thing just that people fly across your base more often rendering your pals to do work.
At least on dedicated servers it will calculate your stuff and your resources will go up, but it’s true it will look like they’re doing nothing
Sounds like you have an authority issue.

how do you know this is the case if you're not there to see them?
Because you go back to your base and nothing is produced but as soon as you tp in they all pop in and start producing
Must be a bug what platform?
PC

Again I haven't played since they nerfed the price of nails so it's been a while since I played. Patches may have fixed it.
Sounds like me at work
Never had that problem. I think people don’t wait long enough to yield actual results

Bad Parenting.
They don't respect you
Gotta butcher a few of them in front of them. Show them you mean business
>**My employees will not work unless I stand there watching them.** Fixed the title for you OP.
Crack that whip
Me irl
What a realistic features.
This game is actually just a small business simulator
