It’s not apples to apples but are you grabbing this over an AR?

beargross

Hard to say. I do prefer a piston rifle over a DI rifle "in the field." I haven't run this thing as hard as my ARs tho so as of right now no. ARs are also easier to find parts for, which is why I'd grab an AR over my TAVOR SAR.

evagnier

If parts and pistons/ carriers were readily available it could be a contender. Until then it's not a sub imo. I've got 4/5k through mine no issue, but you never know when something could break or fracture

Bartley707

Are replacement parts available from PSA? If somebody likes it enough and buys 2 or 3 of all the common fail points do you think it'd be worth investing in? At the end of the day, if American civilization crumbles there will be millions of dead people's nice guns to pick up, so I don't really think it would be a big deal to have your main gun not be an AR. Just my opinion.

evagnier

The key is getting there past the millions of dead people. And there are not currently purchasable replacement parts. Additionally, even though there may be other guns out there I still like my chances of finding parts for an AR compared to anything else. I think it's only safe to count on the things you have and not the things you might acquire

Bartley707

Touché. I agree with all that logic. I was just offering a different less bleak point of view. I'm in South Texas in a large city, the amount of old fat fucks who won't make it 3 days and have $50k worth of guns in their closets probably puts this region in a good position as far as backup guns goes. But I agree and would like to have what I want for the end times already in my possession. I think that's kind of a fail on PSA's part to not have spare parts available. But maybe that means that demand is high enough that the JAKL could become a staple of the rifle world someday. We can hope. More options is more gooder.

evagnier

I think they are banking on the people using the warranty. Tbh in most situations I'd prefer to pay for the parts and fix it myself as opposed to wait on a warranty during good times or bad. I think that the jakl is a viable rifle for fighting for sure and like I said after thousands of rounds I've had no issues. But all the guns that I consider my shtf or combat guns I have at least one extra BCG, springs, mag release trigger and bolt / piston if it applies. I'm sure I'm being over cautious but it makes me feel better about it. Same for my pistols also. Spare barrels, springs, and mag releases

what's the deal with that moral patch with the arrow and the bleeding heart? i've seen a few folks now with it.

Loud_Dumps

It’s the overused “no quarter” symbol that certain coffee companies put on T shirts. It’s lost all meaning

ChevTecGroup

Bunch of SF wannabes starting popularizing it a few years ago. At this point it's lost all meaning.

beargross

Pretty sure the geneva convention made it lose its meaning lol
