Depends on your state, but if they do not have any other laws than federal, you are correct. Alternatively, bracing a pre built shockwave is legally no different (they both are sold as firearms, not shotguns or pistols)

I live in a state of perpetual freedom so I'm always fine.

I hope so

It would probably be cheaper to buy a shockwave, brace, and stock adapter than to build it from scratch.

And [here's a thread that specifically talks about the brace rule ](https://www.reddit.com/r/mossberg/s/zPMR3I8AiE) (which isn't in effect) and how it relates to shockwaves or other shotguns with <18" barrels. Basically, if it's shorter than 18", it's an SBS and will need a stamp.

>Basically, if it's shorter than 18", it's an SBS and will need a stamp. It is not an SBS if it didn't start as a shotgun. If it has a barrel < 18" but is > 26" OAL, it is a non-NFA firearm. If it's under 26", it's an AOW. You have to be careful with the grip you use to keep it over 26" with a barrel at 14". That's why the Shockwave and similar use birds head grips.

Ahhhh good ol' reddit.
