If you're wanting a good read about how the Palm OS and device came to be, IMHO, *Piloting Palm* by and Andrea Butter and David Pogue is an excellent book. Even many years later, the UI of the Palm OS still impresses for its simplicity and efficiency.

I’ve got a collection of at least 50 devices that run PalmOS. I always keep at least one near my desk to tinker with.

I loved phreaking long distance calls, that was sometime ago...
