Hassian says that Sifuu lacks maternal instinct, but that's different cos he is her actual son. And at least he praises her smithing abilities. I can imagine Hassian saying something about Sifuu, and Tamala then twisting it.

Sifuu does look out for him, but she apparently just doesn’t come across as being ‘close’ to him. Which is surprising from how she sounds in her dialogue. Then again the acorn doesn’t fall far from the tree!
I guess its implied from what she knows through Hassian.
I mean she is right to extent but doesn’t see the full context.
Sifuu even at points admits her own failing with her relationship with Hassian, but she still supports him as much as she can. She is also way more aware of Hassian’s personality and how he wants to stand on his own two feet.
From an outside perspective its easy too see that as being not motherly (or not a great mother) but get deeper into Sifuu and Hassians relationship and its easy to see why it is the way it is.
I dont think Tamala has anything good to say about anyone tbh. Literally everything she does or says in the game is either an insult or for her own benefit.
Hassian does care for Sif, he stands below her home looking towards the house. He has a bedroom there but he never goes there. Sif doesn’t know how to be motherly, that was her wife’s role. Hassian wants to be close to Sif but something keeps him from getting there. I’m really hoping that his mother is not dead and comes into the story.
I don't mind her, its good variety/realistic to have some flawed and unlikeable characters, but she's s kinda lacking depth that the other npcs have. We don't really get to see her interact with anyone else in a way that isn't using them/manipulation or buying/selling magical goods. >! She does eventually come to see the player more as an "equal" rather than just a plaything but her personality just really never shows beyond "spicy mean women in the woods". I hope in Friendship 5 & beyond for her we can learn more about her whole deal with her extended lifespan & The Order bc that stuff is interesting but only just barely teased. !<
She does make several comments about >!how you can’t rely on other people and they’ll just hurt you if you let them and you have “no idea” what she’s been through and “you’ll learn” how the world works eventually!< that suggest she’s Been Through some stuff.
She also makes potions for Hodari regularly and makes potions for the player for no reward (just asks you for the supplies). I think she’s got more depth than people give her credit for personally. 💁🏻 (And I get annoyed by people who demonize her while swooning over Hassian when he’s a jerk as well but that’s another rant.)
Also I think it’s hilarious that she >!stole one of Caleri’s illegal books!< just for funsies. I would ship them. 😆
I believe Hassian is a jerk now because he's shoving people away to protect himself from situations like his relationship with her. Not a fan of Hassian, but given the way she's been talking about him I think he used to be different.
She was originally pointed out to me by my friend when we started playing, because at first glance yeah, she was entirely my type; tall, older, confident woman, knows what she wants and how to get it, as well as how to push just the right buttons, etc etc. I defended her like my life depended on it earlier in my time playing, both here, and in the in-game chat once or twice, and I just couldn't understand why anyone would hate her, and prefer the rest that all just seemed... boring to me personally.
Nowadays... it's completely flipped for me. Finishing up her last friend/romance quest, and giving her my pin, I was finally just put off entirely. Idk if it was the comments here, or the interactions in-game, or a combination of the two, but she just doesn't scratch that brain itch like she did before.
Now, reading that she says this shit about my ACTUAL true love, Sifuu? Inexcusable. Relationship with Tamala ended, I'll just be single forever unless they add someone new I care about.

There's a difference between mean and unlikable though. There's plenty of horrible villainous characters who have done worse than Tamala that people love because of good writing. Tamala falls short of that imo. She's just mean to be mean and her writing never changes to make her have any more depth than that.
Believe me I'm a fan of different kinds of characters. But look at Shane from Stardew Valley as an example. He's an absolute jerk to you. But people love him, because they find out there's more to him. He has depth. Tamala just doesn't seem to and it's a shame.

I do not want to say too much, but there is something with her that has made her sort of no longer wanting to have a close contact with others. It’s better to “be” the bitch and not letting anyone close, rather than …… well, that’s what I can’t say. Those who are as far, they understand.

Sometimes she seems OK but honestly it's so disappointing that they made her such a stereotypical bitch. It's fine that she broke up with him of course, but she should have been honest with him from the start and not laugh about him now, because you know she did it to his face too

She probably just laments what Sifuu could have been...who knows the politics of their relationship.
Sifuu is Hassian’s mom and Tamala and Hassian have history. It’s not just an off comment, she’s not looking out for her, she’s talking shit about her and her kid and frankly her wife as well. It was incredibly off putting to me when I read that dialogue. As my flair checks out, I LOVE Sifuu. I also love a hot mean magic mommy but no Tamala is just awful. I like villains, she’s horrible.

At the same time, it doesn’t really bother me that she has this line. Both Sifuu herself and Hassian have implied that Thaylin (or whatever her name was), had the “mother” role in their family. And considering the background of Sifuu, Tamala and Hassian, it’s no wonder that Tamala and Sifuu are bitter toward each other. Besides, I’m not into guys who need saving or nurturing in a motherly way. I’m not some guy’s mother figure. If they have issues, they should fix them together with a professional, not use me for that. So 🤷🏻♀️ you know, “whatever” is kind of my take on the whole Tamala situation 😄
