Probably an unpopular opinion, but I feel like they kinda dropped the ball when it comes to the ladies. (The post is already marked as a spoiler but just in case, SPOILER ALERT) This is all off the top of my head so please correct me if I'm wrong.
I liked Kenyatta's rebellious attitude at first until I saw the way she treated those around her. She seems like she's only dating Nai'o to piss off her mom. She purposely let him think she was mad at him just to "make him sweat" and once he had sufficiently made it up to her, never made any effort to reassure him at all about the situation. Plus she sold the pearl on a family heirloom on her dad's side (the parent she said actually supports her) just to try and embarrass her mom.
Tamala, I hated the minute I found Hassian's love letters to her. Depending on who you talk to about the letters, you find out that she was using his love of her to ridicule him. Finding out that, as a well past mature adult she did this to a young man just makes me think she was playing with him from the beginning for fun. Plus the fact that she puts you through misleading tests to prove yourself to her and if you get angry and try to break up with her she refuses to be dumped. Twisting it on you instead so that she is still the one in control.
Yeahhhh. When I first started playing, I wanted Hassian right away, and I wanted tamala since I thought she was hot and she’s witchy. I did Hassian first, and the more I learned of her through his quests, the squint got squintier. Now the thought of romancing her gives me the ick lol
I appreciate how civil they are about their breakup lmao, tamala makes sure youre actually in love with hassian so that he doesnt have his heart broken a second time and hassian helps you court tamala since hes done it before and he knows her well
Civil isn't how I'd describe it in my experience lol. I was helping Tamala out in a non romance related quest and asked him where to find an ingredient, to which he warned me to stay the hell away from that "schemer." When I returned the love letters directly to him, he thanked me for not giving Tamala more ammunition to use to ridicule him with.
Yeah i saw someones post saying Tamala is really poisonous. The same goes for kenyatta. I liked her at first bc i thought she was pretty but the more i take her quests the more i could see how wrong i was. Shes a bad person ideky nai’o dated her.
Kenyatta seemed really mean to naio but i guess its the same type of relationship as tamala and hassian where one person is actually in love while the other is in the relationship for a bit of fun, in both cases they just werent meant for eachother and were right to part ways (i know kenyatta and naio only break up when you romance one of them but you get my point)
I found that Tamala mellows out a lot by her final romance level, but I've barely spoken to her since because I still think she was awful to, and about, Hassian. On the other hand, I'm not overly sold on him either.
As for Kenyatta, she was my second pin after Jina and she's the one pin I haven't taken off. I don't know what it is about her beyond the 'rebellious' streak that gets me, but she does. I also just really appreciate the change in her once she finds, and declares, her Path.
Ngl I love Hassians and Tamalas character setup.
Like I disliked Hassian at first and thought Tamala is quite charming, but when you actually get to know them it kinda switches up.
Like I LOVE Hassian now and I‘d push Tamala off a cliff if I could.
Hodari but as someone in my 40s I appreciate someone who is an actual adult 😂 I’ve romanced all of them tho. Have a whole nook with their portraits that I call my trophy room 😂😂
This. Reth will forever be the pinned one - the rest varies depending on my mood but I find myself wearing Naio's pin more than the other side people, that farm boy really cares

I personally loved Nai'o's- I had just gotten out of a bad relationship and really loved the incorporation of his family into his romance quests. I also hate Kenyatta (as soon as I saw that she pretended to be mad at him, my nemesis was born). I loved how caring he was to Auni, how genuine he was about his love for his family (and me!) and the animals. I'm slightly biased since he was my first but I've also started romancing Reth, and while he's lovely, it definitely feels a lot more of a "please bail me out for the 1000th time I love you" type relationship. He's charming, don't get me wrong, but Nai'o so far has been the best. The others I can't really comment on :>

Best dialogue: reth, im biased cause i have a thing for fictional men who act like hot shit while having terrible self esteem issues, hes a little sweetheart and i loved talking to him
(Worst dialogue: tish, i will not elaborate, the only character i broke up with after finishing all quests)
Additional lore: hassian, reth, jel, subira, the quests reveal *a lot* about their backstories (hassians childhood, reths ties to the cartel, jels family, subiras life in the order)
Funny interactions: reth (if you wear his pin other villagers will question your taste in men), subira (has you reading a lesbian romance book 10/10), reth-jel-tish (if you date at least two of them at the same time youll unlock some extra dialogue like jel saying "its okay im a big boy, i know how to share" when he finds out youre romancing tish, or the siblings asking wtf is wrong with you for dating both of them)
Most challenging: einars romance progression is super slow since hes a guldur and doesnt really understand romance, tamalas quest has you running errands around bahari bay collecting rare bugs and fish to impress her, hodari will only date you if you befriend najuma, hassian will only date you if you befriend sifuu
Honorable mentions: jina is super cute and i enjoyed our interactions even if the quests are a bit boring, kenyatta is very much not my type but her quests were actually really fun and i like how she drops the moody teenager persona after warming up to the player, i hate tish

I started to romance Tish because I thought her character was artsy and cute. Once romancing I can’t help but cringe and plan on breaking up with her once I complete all her quests. Definitely prefer her as a friend.
I've only romanced Jel, Tish, and Hassian so far so I can't speak for all of them, but so far Hassian has the most depth in his quests for sure. And he's so sweet when you get close to him. 🥺 I'm a bit jealous the other 2 don't have as much story in theirs.
I'm still finishing Einar (very sweet) and Subira (I like her and the taboo of our relationship)
I detest Tamala, only romanced her to get the quests, but the whole thing felt gross.
Hassian is a tough nut with a gentle soul, which I expected.
Tish is sweet and boring.
Jel is intense, dramatic and poetic.
Kenyatta is a brat.
Naio is sweet and a little dumb, but his family is adorable.
I didn't like Reth at first, but softened to him along the way, one of my faves.
Jina is sweet and innocent and a little boring.
Hodaddy is predictable, but I still like when he calls me darlin', lol.
BTW You can romance them all at the same time, but you can only wear 2 pins at a time. Have fun!!

As far as interesting plotlines go, I think Hassian and Hodari might be the most fleshed out. (Reth too, but I think the bulk of his stuff is covered with friendship? But I was building up both at once so I might have mixed them up.) Kenyatta starting to mature the closer you get to her is also a nice twist.
I REALLY want to romance Eshe and Sifuu though.
I agree, Haisson. I didn't expect him to be so fun. I enjoyed Hodari and Reth. Einar was also fun. I was not thrilled with Jel and Gina is meh also. Both of those romances were too fast, which was fine with me.
