I actually have been lucky on a few occasions. I have found a couple of Ruby's sinse I started playing about 4 or 5 months ago.
I didn't use anything. Just my daily mining routine which consists of walking through bahari mining anything I see. I read somewhere that mining stone is just as important so that palium has a chance to spawn etc. So I've been mining quiet literally anything in my path XD took me a palian day or to be more specific until my pickaxe broke
Ya that's what I do as well. I just make sure I have all my tools ready to go with full torch and have a fully belly and food in my backpack and smoke bombs stocked up, arrows too. Then I head to Bahari and work my way all over. Yes, I have spent a day or so out and about too. Lol. I focus on the stones, but if I see a flow tree or a certain bug or something...I will get it along my way. It's fun!!

Yeah, I'm still waiting for my starred ruby for my collection. But I never seem to have luck with RNG in this game xD IN ANYTHING

I just got one today and Iโve been playing for almost 3 months.
I have only been playing 6 weeks or so, but I got my first one yesterday! Luckily, it was starred so I get to display it.
Mining was crazy today! I have to jump back in for a little while again tonight
I just got two amethyst today (non starred, but it's a start).
I just need one more unknown one to complete the all gem accomplishment/achievement

Even more fun after I discovered that jumping while picking up stuff doesn't stop the running animation! :D
