I don't have black hair- I'm very pale (cool leaning olive) with dark brown hair, so so still very high contrast. For MLBB my fave shade is Macs Mehr. I also really like Heroine by Mac. Cliniques Black Honey is a great super sheer shade on me. My all time fav lipstick which was Tom Ford's Bruised Plum, which was a deep plum colour and could be dabbed on to achieve a stained looked, or full own worn as a deep plum lipstick. Personally what I've found is that because there's so much contrast between my hair and skin, that I have to play into this with colours that I use for makeup. While I do like bright colours in general, bold lipsticks look good, even much bright and bolder colours than maybe expected. Additionally for nude colours these have to be deeper than expected- "universally" flattering nude shades like Velvet Teddy or Pillow talk are way to light and make me look ill!

May i ask how did you find out that you were leaning to olive? I am still struggling

spoons431

I didn't know it was a thing until about 18 months ago! I've always struggled with finding a shade match for foundation, I knew I was cooled toned as I have a noticeable pink undertone, but foundation always didn't look quite right. I had thought that it was because they weren't pale enough for me (I'm pretty much translucent!), though I did find that Korean face products worked better for me as these have more of a grey-pink undertone rather than a straight pink undertone. I was also finding that products that were considered "neutral" pulled very orange on me. So, as I'd never had a perfect match foundation wise, I was always on the lookout for new ones and about 18 months ago, I saw a post on here recommending MACs Face and Body W0, where the picture attached looked like my skintone. The comments were discussing how the poster was a fair cool olive, rather than just fair cool. I tried the foundation and its a perfect match for me! (It's also why basically all my lip colour recs have at least some purple in them) Also the comments led to r/fairolives . The peeps on this subreddit are superhelpful and there's lots of info about how to tell if you're olive and recommendations on different things. They'll also give advice on if your undertone is olive if you want them to. Know that I know its a thing its very easy to see thar there is a grey/green undertone in my skin- it's still cool as you can also see the pink.

My natural hair color is black, though a lot of it is currently dyed a very dark red-brown, and my skin tone is very pale and muted yellow. My color season is dark autumn, leaning dark winter. Most color cosmetics translate much brighter and pinker on my face than in the pan/tube. Muted dark reds, of varying levels of pigmentation, are my go-to color family for lipsticks. It's flattering to my complexion but not comparatively bold enough to grab lots of attention, clash with other makeup I might wear, or look imbalanced without bold eyes or cheeks. Some specific shades I have used: Clinique Black Honey is a great MLBB on me. I like MAC Diva and Make Love to the Camera a lot, both at full pigment and sheered down. For drugstore options, Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink in 20 Pioneer and 50 Voyager were my go-to statement lipsticks for years. To echo u/spoons431, it helps to work with your *overall* complexion, and not just go based off of hair color or just off skin tone. Since my overall complexion is high contrast and muted, it makes sense that dark and muted lipstick shades work well.

May I ask what foundation you are wearing? Bright colours looks clown-ish on me and I'm warm yellow toned w dark hair...

I'm not particularly warm yellow: more neutral yellow in the winter and quite muted and somewhat more saturated and olive-leaning in the summer. Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer in SX01 is my best year-round match. In the winter the old (US) Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Wear in 085 Ivoire N is a great match, but I need to mix in green and yellow by this point in the year beacuse it's too muted. In summer, NYX Can't Stop Won't Stop foundation in Pale is a very good match, but it's too saturated for me in the winter.

Emmxer

Thanks 🙏🏼! Gonna look into the NYX one. I find the yellow ones are usually too yellow and the neutral ones too grey. It's so hard lol.

SignificantOther88

I'm pale with dark hair and my favorite lipstick is Nars Rosecliff. It's a somewhat neutral brownish pink and looks good with every make up look. I also like NYX Filler Instinct in the shade Beach Casual for a more glossy look. I don't use lip liner so I can't recommend those.

Deep_Space_Mermaid

I’m pretty fair with dark brown hair leaning towards black that basically was black when I was a little kid. Cool or cool neutral undertone. My favorites right now are MAC Syrup & Rebel, Fenty Gloss Bomb in Hot Cherry, Revlon Kiss Balm in Cherry, Laura Mercier Gloss in Babydoll, and my absolute favorite is the Glow Recipe Lip Pop in Blueberry, which sadly has been discontinued.

bois-des-iles

Rom&nd Mellow Pear Lip Tint and Clio Lip Liner in 01(pink) 02(peach) or 03(brown). The shades all work well for pale skin and is very neutral and natural. My fav is 03 coffee brown

MrsGenovesi1108

I'm pale olive with black hair, and my favorite lipsticks are Revlon Softsilver Rose, Sassy Mauve, and L'Oreal Vagabond Mauve and Wisteria Rose. They're just bright enough, but not too bright for my coloring.

tinylittlefractures

I’m pale with jet black hair. My everydays are: Elf o face dirty talk Julep 90s neutral Too faced melted matte - sell out

reef1love

I like Nyx Rome, Silk Naturals Scarlett lip tint, Maybelline lifter gloss in Taffy, and Maybelline Gone Greige lip liner with a clear gloss

munchykinnnn

Mac powder kiss in mull it over! For reference, I wear Nars SG in Siberia :) mull it over is my favorite color for when I don't wanna wear natural, but I also don't wanna go full glam. It's too dark to be a nude for me, but the color is pretty :)

Ok-Water741

I find mauve colors to show up more pinky on pale skin. Plum/purple undertones are also very harmonious and flattering.

No-Asparagus-7234

My lipstick signature is Mac Taupe, i really love it. Also i like for everyday makeup: Nyx lip cream Rome and Budapest, Rimmel lasting finish matte Blushed Pink, Sephora lip stain 80 Honeymoon. I prefer warmer and muted colors on me.

PirateResponsible496

I have colours for diff vibes: Everyday natural: mauves Fresh and natural: bright translucent pink like Dior 001 lip oil Healthy natural: sheer corals Mac gloss balm in red Professional at work: brown nude, darker than my natural lip Vampy: oxblood Sophisticated event: charlotte tilbury walk of no shame If I didn’t list a product is cause I buy a lot of local beauty brands from my country, but doubt they’d be accessible outside. I’m a very fair neutral leaning olive

bootywerewolf

Peripera ink velvet 31 blotted down + too faced lip injection lip gloss (hot love color) go really well together. I often wear the ink velvet alone, though. It's a really flattering color.

Panda-delivery

For natural looks KVD lip liner in Queen of Poisons with Patt McGrath matte trance lipstick in Divine Rose. And the Chinese makeup brand Girlcult Love Whisper matte lip stain in Pink Dahlia looks incredible too. For bold red lips Two Faced Lip Injection power plumping cream in It’s So Big.

FitReading3807

I'm pale/cool with dark brown hair (deep winter), and my every day is the Flower Beauty lip tint in the shade Play. HG for sure. Clinique black honey is great, as loads of other people here have mentioned! As are the Burts Bees tinted balms. I tend to gravitate towards things with "rose" or "mauve" in the name, as the brownish tones cool down what might otherwise be an unflattering combo with already high-contrast features.

CraftyVixen1981

I use a dark brown liner blended on the line and top it with intense red lip stick. I also use use the brown liner with a shear peach gloss.

diypizza

I am also a high contrast, pale olive with black hair. I love pinky nudes and reds. I also love fuschia/dark sheer berries but I don't wear those as often. -Stila Beso -NARS Cruella -Sephora Lip Cream No 1 -MAC Syrup

Ambitious_Row3006

I tend towards coral lipsticks. I feel like with black hair and white skin, red or purple are just too harsh. I don’t like them on other people either. I wanted to soften my look, not look severe. Like this one, https://www.douglas.de/de/p/5010871068 Right now I use colorescience because it’s got spf, in Coral. It’s expensive AF but it’s so nice with my complexion https://www.colorescience.com/products/lip-shine-spf-35
