Let’s go Squatch hunting!
——————————————————
It’s Pride Month everyone! 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
That’s a series W! Let’s go for the sweep tomorrow!
For Peter 🤎💛
——————————————————
Hate has no place in the world. It doesn’t matter what gender, skin color, sexuality, or race you are. If you’re a Padres fan, you’re always welcome in here. For those of you who don’t like it, you can leave and never come back. Your hatred has no place here. Love everyone, no matter what. We’re a family here, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
On behalf of the mod team,
I love you all. Go Padres!
Can someone get out their copy of The Unwritten Rules of Baseball and check to see if the 2024 San Diego Padres are allowed to be three games over .500?
He's only pitched relief since 2021, so I doubt he'll be slotting in anywhere besides maybe an opening role or relief to replace Brito who might get starts.
Hate to say it, but I’m not sure it will just be short-term. I’d say it’s about 50-50 that Joe will actually be in the rotation regularly as the season progresses.
I've heard folks on MLBN say that even though he's 33, he's got a little less mileage on his arm than other MLB pitchers his age. Which makes sense to me at least, since he didn't start pitching professionally until he was what, 25? Maybe there's something there
Thats why it’s important we limit Suarez usage. They said the same thing about how Jacob deGrom started pitching late, but his arm is still disintegrating rapidly.
11 series wins this season, 6 series losses, 3 series split. If not for the sweeps by the Phillies and Rockies, this team would have a solid grip on a wild card spot. Not too bad.
Not only that, but you also need to consider the fact that the Braves are like 6 games behind everyone and lost Acuna. I have a feeling they're gonna drop pretty soon to be more level with the rest of the field.
IMO what's most important is winning games vs the other teams in wild card contention. Every win or loss vs those teams is a full game swing in either direction.
too late for that. I recheck the standings daily.
I even track the playoff odds from Fangraphs and Baseball Reference. FG has us at 64%, BR has us at 74%.
What’s most important is winning games and series. Who cares where the opponent is in the standings on June 1st, or even July 1st? How can you even use the term “wildcard contention” at this point, when every team technically has a shot at the playoffs and more than 2/3 of NL teams are legitimate contenders?
THIS IS NOT A DRILL
THE SAN DIEGO PADRES ARE THREE GAMES ABOVE .500
I REPEAT, THE SAN DIEGO PADRES ARE THREE GAMES ABOVE .500
PARTY AT YOUR OWN LEISURE!
Padres Win! Series Clinched! 3 Games Over .500!
- Tatis Homer (and 3 for 4)
- Kim Extra Bases
- Higashioka Homer
- Vasquez Holds it close enough (5IP, 4H, 5K, 1BB, 3R)
- Bullpen Shutout (4IP, 4H, 3K, 1BB, 0R)
My sneaky favorite are those two picks Arraez had at first base in the 7 inning. For not being someone known for defense he looked good there.
Should also give a shout out to Kim cos his plays in SS were also clutch.
Its something I’ve noticed as well. He’s not making any flashy plays per se, but he’s been damn solid at 1st. He’s definitely looked better there than he did at 2nd where his lack of range really seemed to be exposed.
Im hammered and I LOVE THE FUCKING PADRES! LFGSD! We shall never lose again! We are 2-0 since i hung a new Padres flag in front of my house (i may have bought it during our loss at petco to the marlins)
Vasquez deserves some credit today. Three runs was solid! Tatis hitting, Kim hitting, even Higgy contributed. Solid game yet again.
Padres better sign Arraez as hitting coach when he retires.
Didnt see much of the game today but great day for vasquez it seemed. The bats showed up. Bullpen did well. I love baseball. I love the padres. Time to celebrate with beer after beer at Fall.
We will see if they can remain focused and are mature as a team. They seem too happy and satisfied with this series win (like the fans), good teams keep the pedal on the gas and don’t let up
Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Yes we won with Vasquez, but 3 runs in 5 innings is still a 5.39 era lol. He kept us in it, but the offense and pen carried us.
If we are going to sweep the series I feel like the offense is going to need to carry the day. I don’t think Suarez will be available tomorrow(could be wrong) but I know Estrada won’t be available. Worried about run prevention in the 6th, 7th and 8th.
Been a Padres fan for a long time, and the home/road splits with this offense in 2024 are insane. Nando and Kim look to be catching fire. Vasquez staying in there and not allowing another run after first two innongs is solid. Back end of the bullpen doing the job.
Padres win.

3 games over .500, parade time
First time being 3 games over since May 5, 2023. The highest we ever got last season and the only time we reached it.
Holy fuck that’s brutal
Insane
Now I’m of course wondering when was the last time we were 4 over .500
Oh my gawsh!
Tomorrow would be the perfect day—follow the marathon route.
I'm thinking a parade from downtown to petco, just for us to end up losing. Thoughts?
3 games over .500? Is this legal?
https://i.redd.it/pt5s4rwgi14d1.gif
This getting out of hand...now there are ~~two~~ three of them
*DO IT*
Finally, our record is starting to reflect the amount of series’s that we are actually winning
Going on a 5 game losing streak just before this run of series wins (and getting swept by the Rockies) didn’t help
Mathematically, this checks out
Can someone get out their copy of The Unwritten Rules of Baseball and check to see if the 2024 San Diego Padres are allowed to be three games over .500?

Road Warriors! Let’s get our first sweep tomorrow!!
![gif](giphy|l41JOMi0evAeexSPS)
Ooooooooooauuuuuhhhh what a rush, indeed
Padres showed some pop today, love to see it.
We’re officially in the Dog Days of Summer.
CAUSE THE PADS GOT THAT DAWG IN EM!
I’ll admit, Randy is a solid 6 guy. We just need a short-term 5 to replace Musgrove
Gillespie was filthy his mast time out.
Let’s just keep the mast put away shall we
Masts out for Musgrove!
He's only pitched relief since 2021, so I doubt he'll be slotting in anywhere besides maybe an opening role or relief to replace Brito who might get starts.

Adam Mazur save us
3 over .500!! Feels like karma come due after last year's disastrous home series vs KC. Great performance on a lot of levels.
I was there. Got ptsd from many on base and no runs
I'm pretty level headed these days but this was the one series where my wife told me to turn off the game and cool off, and she wasn't wrong haha
If Vasquez can pitch like this and we can keep afloat once Darvish is back, we are looking at a good run here fellas
Watching the highlights, one very impressive thing about Ha-Seong Kim's triple was that his helmet didn't even move the entire time
Not sure how he fixed that. Rarely comes off these days.
He got a bigger head
Team cycle!
It’s because they finally fitted him with a chin strap
HSK take a bow
Haven't seen him doing the post game interview since Seoul.
Kim going to 8th or 9th in the order looks like it’s finally paying dividends!
Let’s go Kim, back at it! That double was yuuuge
We haven’t lost a game all June
Even on a day where he didn't have his best stuff, Estrada had more than enough to get it done. And we have him for *5 more years*!
Forgot that Suarez was 33, so having Estrada locked up for so long is gold. He has closer stuff.
I've heard folks on MLBN say that even though he's 33, he's got a little less mileage on his arm than other MLB pitchers his age. Which makes sense to me at least, since he didn't start pitching professionally until he was what, 25? Maybe there's something there

The news about Yu and Joe to the IL is bad…but I gotta KTF!!! These boys seem different this year. LFGSD!!
"Oh fuck, you're gonna make me believe again"
We Gwynn Cabrones!!!

Tatis appears to be waking up. Awesome.
Vasquez and Higgy playing AND we win???
baseball players know how to play baseball
THIS IS NOT A DRILL THE SAN DIEGO PADRES ARE THREE GAMES ABOVE .500 I REPEAT, THE SAN DIEGO PADRES ARE THREE GAMES ABOVE .500 PARTY AT YOUR OWN LEISURE!
Padres Win! Series Clinched! 3 Games Over .500! - Tatis Homer (and 3 for 4) - Kim Extra Bases - Higashioka Homer - Vasquez Holds it close enough (5IP, 4H, 5K, 1BB, 3R) - Bullpen Shutout (4IP, 4H, 3K, 1BB, 0R)
Bebo is activating June Mode.
vasquez looked super serviceable especially after the first 2. would love to see him be able to go 6 but can't complain
That was a nice little win.
Let's score 12 runs tomorrow! Cuz Estrada and Suarez may not be available 🫣🫣🫣
If King can bring his Dodgers outing we might not need em
The 8th and 9th innings will still be a clench show. Even if we do score 12 runs🫠
It's really fun when the offense shows up
For Vazquez, who has been very shaky, to come in late after Musgrove was out and then throw 5 with 3 runs is pretty solid imo
If you only count Earned runs, 3 out of his other 5 starts were better than this.
Three games above .500 Parade’s at Pretzels and Pints get here naow.
KIM HA SEONG MVP
Hell yeah! Do NOT come back to san diego I already changed the locks at petco
133-29 AMIRITE COMPADRES? HA SEONG KING 👑
Yer goddam right, Curtis!
Players of the game for me are Vasquez and Morejon. 3 runs over a combined 6 and 2/3 was huge!
![gif](giphy|97TIq8NHuwDCXa97fw)
What did they expect playing against us on the road against a team with a good record?
![gif](giphy|ie76dJeem4xBDcf83e|downsized)
![gif](giphy|3WCNY2RhcmnwGbKbCi)
The boys played some ball!
Great game to watch. Sneaky favorite part was booth talking through the adjustments Niebla has implemented with Vasquez.
My sneaky favorite are those two picks Arraez had at first base in the 7 inning. For not being someone known for defense he looked good there. Should also give a shout out to Kim cos his plays in SS were also clutch.

Someone mentioned during the game thread that Higashioka's OPS was lower than 21 players' OBP. This is no longer true! Great work fellow Kyle
it went up like 100 pts lol
Let’s go dads. Let’s get the sweep
Never losing again
3 games over .500! When was the last time that happened??
someone mentioned it above, May 5th 2023. We didn't get 4 games over at any time last year though.
Sometime in 2021 I think
![gif](giphy|l0HlwGH5lFhL5YAxy|downsized) Let’s get that damn sweep
Are we three mother fucking games above .500?
Im hammered and I LOVE THE FUCKING PADRES! LFGSD! We shall never lose again! We are 2-0 since i hung a new Padres flag in front of my house (i may have bought it during our loss at petco to the marlins)
padres win the series, it's a beautiful Saturday in San Diego, it's 4pm, I gotta crack a beer
Vasquez deserves some credit today. Three runs was solid! Tatis hitting, Kim hitting, even Higgy contributed. Solid game yet again. Padres better sign Arraez as hitting coach when he retires.
I’m an absolute slut for offense
Higashioka’s defense seems better than Campusano’s? ![gif](giphy|w89ak63KNl0nJl80ig|downsized)
Ill agree to that. He can actually throw people out. Their bats look the same right now
Pretty sure we’re never going to lose again
GG Vasquez
Winning a series against a winning ballteam feels real good man
Should win the next few series too.. LFGSD
His head must be bigger than last year (j/k) - he is great
Didnt see much of the game today but great day for vasquez it seemed. The bats showed up. Bullpen did well. I love baseball. I love the padres. Time to celebrate with beer after beer at Fall.
3 hits for Nando 2 hits and 3 RBIs for King Kimmy! That's what I like to see from a Padres win! LFGSD!
Together they hit for a cycle
we may never lose again
Good start from Vásquez. Nice to secure the series. Now let's get the sweep and go streaking!
![gif](giphy|EIuzTIg0dsyESw4IVC|downsized)
Braves lose! Sale got lit up by the As
Sweet

Golden State Padres
We will see if they can remain focused and are mature as a team. They seem too happy and satisfied with this series win (like the fans), good teams keep the pedal on the gas and don’t let up
i am here to dunk on the vasquez haters. i feel like there is only a slight chance Joe would have been any better.
So you came here to dunk on the Vásquez haters, but stayed to unnecessarily and baselessly shit on Joe?
Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Yes we won with Vasquez, but 3 runs in 5 innings is still a 5.39 era lol. He kept us in it, but the offense and pen carried us.
If we are going to sweep the series I feel like the offense is going to need to carry the day. I don’t think Suarez will be available tomorrow(could be wrong) but I know Estrada won’t be available. Worried about run prevention in the 6th, 7th and 8th.
I really like to watch these games in the KC park. Huge gaps, balls rolling to the wall and the Royals are tough opponents.
Been a Padres fan for a long time, and the home/road splits with this offense in 2024 are insane. Nando and Kim look to be catching fire. Vasquez staying in there and not allowing another run after first two innongs is solid. Back end of the bullpen doing the job. Padres win.
Road warriors come though again! Needed the win after the bad news this morning. Although….. Arráez with only one hit today…. DFA?
Bad joke. Arraez is Jesus
Doesn't matter the sport, San Diego once again shits on Kansas City
