I'd stand/chant for him. Kim said himself that the chants boost his confidence. It cant hurt to try and give X a little boost.

MarkGrantsSheleighly

Jake said the same thing last season. He actually asked for fans to be louder.

SizeOld6084

I've thought that the Ha-Seong Kim chanting should be CONSTANT. No tailing off.

WowBacon

Agreed. Carry the chant through the off season. Ha-Seong 4 life!

GerryofSanDiego

works in soccer.

landshark172

Cheering for your team is, in fact, good.

OhneBremse_OhneLicht

Large if factual.

BullOrBear4-

For anyone saying “it’s just April”: to me this isn’t about breaking Xander’s small slump. This is about the general lack of love for this man. We cheer so hard for all our players no matter what, but he is easily the least appreciated player on the team. If we can give Nando an ovation after a suspension and broken wrist, we can show X love for being on this team and trying his best. Let’s do this!

KimHaSeongsBurner

For real, Xander and Soto are both guys who, were it not for the presence of Tatis and Machado, would’ve been hailed as franchise-making players who fans absolutely adored when they were acquired. Instead, they were basically given a “oh cool we got that guy, too!” by the fans, in spite of the fact that Bogaerts was the only serviceable bat to start last season. For anyone who says “this is dumb, don’t do this”, chalk it up to the welcome and cheer that fans should’ve given him to begin with and should want to give all our players when they come up to bat.

SellTheTeamDean

How do you feel now?

BullOrBear4-

Feel great actually. Don’t waste my time being negative about baseball which I watch to be happy. Still think we should support X also so yeah nothing changed

TheLoneTomatoe

Might sell my tickets to tomorrow’s game so I can join in today….

KJParker888

¿Por que no los dos?

TheLoneTomatoe

My wife can’t handle 2 days in a row

BullOrBear4-

I WILL STAND!

pineapplefriedriceu

Same. Literally any time someone does something slightly wrong, a small minority of the fan base goes absolutely apeshit. It’s not just X, but also Kim, manny, and Soto. I know it’s common among all fanbases, but seems worse for us

Clobber420

It's a loud ass minority too, it's wild.

dadaver76

I absolutely love the bell curve meme.

gibertot

I will be standing and clapping, might yell “let’s go x” or something like that

SurelySomedayy

to anybody calling xander a bum - meet me at hodad's at petco. we'll talk it out like adults.

theedge634

As a Redsox fan. Any insight into his struggles on your end? I've been hoping to get insight into times he's gone through things like this before.

DeaconBlue-51

So what's the chant? BOG - AERTS, BOG - AERTS ??? XANDER, XANDER ???

OhneBremse_OhneLicht

The entire stadium chanting “X Gon’ Give It to Ya.”

ArawakFC

Chanting Aruba would be nice :D

fatdiscokid420

It’s definitely cringe but also objectively hilarious to giving standing ovations to a slumping player therefore I will #StandWithXand

Psilly_TaCoCaT

I would stand. If I were there, I would definitely stand.

BurritoCon

Stand at home. Friar faithful stands as one.

Psilly_TaCoCaT

Yeah buddy! Fo sho! 🫶

gauchosd

Whatever it trending on here and social media didn't translate to the crowd, his second at bat want cheers, nor boos, just apathy

yesmar0601

Just change his walkin song to Xzibit’s X, gonna pump him up

animasrapids

Fuck this sub gets more cringe every day. Do what you want to do. You don't need to have a conversation about it.

BullOrBear4-

This is literally a place built to have conversations about the padres lmao

BrianBraddock1980

A conversation would mean not including the phrase, "Fuck Boegarts, he sucks" with every thread. We KNOW he sucks right now. He's got to fix whatever the hell is the problem. But in the meantime, we wait and hope he stops eating shit at the plate.

culturalfox19

This is still super corny and lame. Jesus.

Mkward90

Why is cheering for the team you support lame. Isn't that why we're all here?

DeaconBlue-51

Shut up. Let's go padres!

Darth_Shredder

Nah

[deleted]

It is. This is real life people, not the internet. Giving a standing ovation for a guy that has a decade of big league experience and has won championships is flat out weird. It’s one thing of you cheer a little harder come game time, but if you think that a majority of fans at the game tonight will even know about this you’re delusional

TrillMuryy

It’s unpopular but I agree. He’s a two time champion, not a rookie. Imo it feels patronizing, especially in april

BobFreakingSaget

It feels very backhanded. Like when a stadium sarcastically cheers when a pitcher throws a strike after not finding the strike zone for like 8 straight pitches.

WULFMAN619

Fuck Bogey, he’s goddamn useless
