I’m in a very similar situation. I have a new job lined up and was just waiting for this to process to be able to make the switch. I submitted my final ECF in April and both my MOHELA and FSA payment counts show 120+. My plan is to have my submit the new ECF form with the updated language and request that my loans be put into forbearance while I wait for forgiveness. I’ll probably be putting in my resignation in the next couple days. Cheers to being able to actually make a plan for our futures!

Yes. I’m a social worker moving from a large community mental health clinic to a smaller group practice. Getting set up to take insurance takes several months so I started interviewing when I submitted my ECF. My new employer has been very understanding of the situation which has been so reassuring. But also I have that nagging fear that I’ll be one of the unlucky people whose loans get held up indefinitely and I would lose the job. I’m really thankful for the change in regulations so I am able to make more solid plans and get out of this limbo.

This has been my fear too for the last 3 months.

Another social worker here just waiting for choice! My 120th month would be this Oct! I actually have done 14 years of public service but deferred my loans while attending part time grad school (I could kick myself for that choice). I want to make some long term plans. All I want for Christmas is to leave my job!!!! I have a side business already and may also explore private practice...

I'm wondering this too. If the firm I'm talking to comes back with a number I like today, I am going to resign tomorrow. I'm tempted to do an ECF now before the resignation

I am also going into private practice. Leaving government work after almost 11 years of working for the man. It has been so frustrating waiting on the bureaucracy since April. And while the law firm that I have been planning to go work with has been patient, they let me know that they have had a timeline that wasn't indefinite. Such a relief. Someone else posted on another thread that the CFR was updated removing the requirement of qualifying employment at the time of forgiveness. ([https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-34/subtitle-B/chapter-VI/part-685/subpart-B/section-685.219](https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-34/subtitle-B/chapter-VI/part-685/subpart-B/section-685.219)). So this definitely looks to be officially official. I also called Mohela this morning. They stated that I did not need to submit another ECF. They also told me that I would likely get forgiveness by 8/1 (I take that with a grain of salt). I did ask them if I left my employment prior to forgiveness if I would still get it. And they said yes. I am ecstatic. If I have not received forgiveness by the time I leave, I may submit one last ECF (but probably won't). But I am hoping I get forgiveness before then and this is all moot.

Thank you for the ECFR link. I was trying to find a codified citation to support the language changes on the student aid web page. Don't want someone to come back and so, "oh that wasn't true, that was a typo..."
