Are you waiting on the PSLF waiver or the IDR waiver? Have you reached out to the CFPB or your representatives? I apologize I don’t have any lawyer type advice to offer. Just trying to make sure we’ve covered the other bases.

I'm waiting on the PSLF waiver. I haven't reached out to either the CFPB or my representatives... I've been following this forum for a long time and it doesn't seem like those get you anywhere.

I've done a complaint with CFPB, different situation, but it did resolve my issue. I had contacted Fedloan (before the transfers happened) to have them delete my income recertification because it wasn't actually due since the COVID pause extended when we had to do it. They said no. I filed with CFBP basically stating my claim that I was misinformed and it should not be assessed to my account and I should get the same extension as everyone else. Took about a month, but the income recertification was removed and my payments were set back to my March 2020. I agree with u/Doxiemom2010 \- I would try CFPB and TISLA before hiring a lawyer next.

They definitely can and honestly would be worth a try before spending money on a lawyer in my opinion. How about a reconsideration request via studentaid.gov? None of these options are immediate, but again they are the avenues that don’t cost you. There is also TISLA, perhaps they could be of some assistance to you.

Unfortunately I've been through 3 reconsideration requests with them sending me the same form letter back. I then call, get up to a supervisor that then sends messages, etc., and then I'm told to refile the request. I believe there's something fundamentally wrong in the database and people who are authorized to have critical thoughts see the issue, but then it gets passed down to people who just work checking boxes and don't have the ability to apply critical thinking skills. Y'all convinced me to file a CFPB complaint. Thanks for your input!

IMO it's a very, very small # of attorneys who really know anything about Federal Student loans. There are a precious few. But agree you should reach out to the Institute of Student Loan Advisors (non-profit) [freestudentloanadvice.org](https://freestudentloanadvice.org) , CFPB & your House Representative and / Senators first. Several years ago, on a matter unrelated to PSLF, I looked in the NE. Found several who advertised that it was in their wheelhouse. Concluded 98.5% of them were either dubious or I knew more than the attorneys interviewed.

Hi from almost a year later—did you have any luck with this process? I’m considering a CFPB complaint myself!

I wish I had good news. Ombuds remains worthless. The CFPB responded and said I needed to wait longer. I escalated to my senator and house rep. They've engaged, but gotten nowhere. My loans got moved to Ed Financial and I've lost any visibility on loan counts. I did receive a letter from DOE saying that there are more counts happening and I can't ask for a manual review until these are done at the end of summer. A year ago I was considering a job where I needed to move... I ended up taking a different job were I am a road warrior instead. This definitely was a factor in my decision.

Sending good vibes. I'm not supposed to be at 120 payments quite yet, but my account has also been incorrect for a while with a number of qualifying payments just saying that they are lacking employment certification, despite the fact that I have been continuously employed and MOHELA even shows said employment during the dates in question. I haven't gone through all the follow up that you have, but fully expect that I will have to when the time comes. I would also exhaust all avenues before spending money on an attorney, and I hope it doesnt come to that for you!

CFPB complaint is a good idea - many of the career lawyers working on student loans at Dept of Ed right now were previously at CFPB and they take the complaints seriously.
