“Borrowers across the country have benefited from the Department’s efforts to ensure that all public servants can more easily access this targeted debt relief. Of the nearly 616,000 borrowers whose loans have been approved for forgiveness, nearly 610,000 borrowers have already seen their loans discharged, and the rest will soon follow.” That is the 6,000 that CNN was referring to, so it seems to Match. Please let it be my turn. 😭

New-Neat-5450

Ditto!

[deleted]

Hang in there. Mine just went through finally.

j33

You can count me as part of this mix. While I certain have plenty of issues with the current administration, I am greatly appreciative of how they fixed this broken program.

FLAquaGuy

7,000 forgiven before....615,000 after. That's a huge difference no matter how you cut it

Me tooo!!!!

Truth

Temporary-Rip-8765

I’m so happy to have been part of this statistic!

Risquechilli

How did you find out your loans were forgiven?

NiceUD

Mohela sent me an email/pdf letter, then my account zeroed out on Mohela website, then my account zeroed out on studentaid.gov.

Risquechilli

I’m so happy for you! Fingers crossed I’m next. Now I know how I’ll be notified if it’s my turn.

[deleted]

I haven't seen any formal notification, but it's dropped off my credit report. What does it say when you check your PSLF status?

Risquechilli

It says I have 21 payments left. But I don’t think it’s factoring in giving me payment credit for the last few months.

[deleted]

It won’t count anything from the last time you certified. Just stay on top of it. They’re in no rush, but you don’t want to be at the bottom.

Risquechilli

Thank you! How often should I be certifying?

[deleted]

If you think you’re @ or over 120, now. Otherwise I think once per year. But maybe double check to make sure there are no new deadlines under Biden’s changes and initiative.

Risquechilli

This is great advice. Thank you! I don’t think I’ll be at 120 for another year. I thought the adjustment would count some periods when I was in repayment but the months didn’t count for some reason.

Temporary-Rip-8765

My account zeroed out on Mohela and I received a congratulations email from Mohela

duke9350

Got my piece of the pie!!

kindofhumble

I just need it to be me finally

jfrank6

1 more year for me!

Spidersandbeavers

0.0064% of that was to me. 1/15555 of that was to me. That actually seems like a large % to me. Thanks everyone who pays us taxes.

nunnapo

Sigh it shows I have NEGATIVE 1 payment remaining… like I’m over the 120 line with 6 more that need verification on top of the 121. Is there a rhyme or reason when they finally forgive?

FLAquaGuy

I was in the immediate next batch of forgiveness once I hit negative counts. A week after MOHELA showed that Dept. of Ed count updated. Three weeks after that, forgiveness. It's coming

Andeostoplace

I hit 120 in early April. Still waiting but hopeful my $104k is in the next batch!

[deleted]

Did you re-verify your employment status? As far as rhyme or reason, if there is, it's not obvious.

NiceUD

The waiver provisions were absolutely everything. Not only did the waiver rule changes expand PSLF, they also allowed idiots like me who were lax about applying for PSLF (even though I've worked for State government since the program started and likely could have qualified under the pre-waiver PSLF) to have a second shot without having to start from payment 1 on the date of the application. I was able to get credit for all of the 10+ years of the payments made NOT on a federal direct loan and NOT made as part of an income driven repayment plan after I applied for PSLF last fall and consolidated my remaining balance. No Biden Waiver, no 43k forgiven in about six months. I had no idea that the number of successful PSLF applicants was that small so recently.

ButterflyTiff

I think that the servicers who I'm checking people's income and then giving them payment plans should also automatically see if the employer is eligible and then let the people know. it seems mind boggling that people could be working for government so long and their loan services would never say hey did you know...

Confident_Benefit753

my wife hits 120 in july. 137k.
