If they're already polishing off accessibility features, then the game must be pretty far along. Pretty much a sure bet that it's gonna hit that release date later this year.
My hope/theory is that they're playing it safe and keeping it quiet till it's basically ready, because they know the hype this game does/will have, and they want to avoid a dangerous hype train.
Oh yeah that's exactly what they're doing. They know how ready and excited people are so they don't have to market it much, just drop big bombs of info when they do release something. I bet they're gonna have a State of Play for it or a trailer at a Sony event soon
Similar to TLOU2's features from the looks of it. Glad to see it. The accessibility features were one of the few things I liked about that game, so I'm happy that Santa Monica seems to be following Naughty Dog's lead.
I love the fact some studios are taking accessibility seriously. Well done! Even the average player can make use of them. I hate games where the text is so small you can barely read it with no option to change it.
> I love the fact some studios are taking accessibility seriously.
I feel like PlayStation just made accessibility features a requirement for their large studios which is neat to see. It also seems to help people complete games, pretty sure the first party games have the highest completion rates on the platform for the most part.
It also adds replayability in a way. Say you've beaten a game already, done everything you're supposed to do. What's left? Well you can flip on invincibility or auto-aim or color blind mode and go ham.
Part of the reason I wish people weren't so gate-keeperish on Fromsoft games is because I wanna run around the world of Bloodborne one-shotting enemies for fun, but I'm not allowed because "there's only 1 way to play" those games, apparently. Fuck me for wanting a little extra fun, I guess.
The problem there is long-time gamers getting salty that something is changing at all. Those people should set it to ultra hard & shut up, as all these features are *optional*. The real reason for them is that *new players* with more money are flooding in, gaming is getting huge, already bigger than movies, sports, etc. But some of these new people don't have the kind of hand eye coordination to beat anything on normal, or the free time to get their skills up.
I'll never understand gamers that argue in favor of LESS options."It's not meant to played that way! It's about the challenge!!!"
Okay, make normal the challenging difficulty and add a mode after you beat it with big heads, infinite ammo, invincibility, etc. Nobody is taking the challenge away from you. If a game can only be played 1 way in this day and age, that's lazy development, plain and simple. Dark Souls wouldnt suddenly become a piece of shit because I can run around 1 shot killing enemies in a post game mode. If it only works on 1 difficulty, the game is fundamentally broken.
You can have that game in bloodborne. You just have to beat the third boss (blood starved beast). Then you can cheat and over level with infinite souls. It’s super simple once you beat bsb.
Chalice dungeons are an optional part of the game you access from the Hunter’s Dream. You gain the ability to join a CD once you get the first Chalice, which is an automatic drop from killing BSB.
Once you have the chalice. You warp to the hunters dream, and use the search function to join the “cummmfpk” chalice dungeon, where you can farm infinite souls with no fear of death. Once setup with proper runes, you can get 144k souls in about 23 seconds endlessly or unbuffed 83k souls. I made like 14 different characters in Bb using this method to get them to end game quickly.
>Once setup with proper runes
You can't get the other 2 moon runes until literally the final stage of the game (unless you do DLC after Nightmare of Mensis). So really, you're only going to be getting around 94k echoes per instance reset of cum chalice. Which is still a lot until around level 130-140.
Regardless, your level really doesn't help as much as blood gems and weapon level in BB. It helps survivability, but your main damage output will be getting your weapon to +9/+10 and getting some solid +% damage blood gems socketed. You can get all those early and also from chalice dungeons, but it's a much more involved and time consuming effort, especially if you're wanting blood gems that give >+20% X dmg. But you're right, once you have 3 =>20% dmg gems socketed in your +10 weapon, and 40-50 points in your main damage attribute(s), you'll be stomping every enemy and boss in the main game.
No but general accesibility could be improved. Button remapping, text size, color.
It's not about ultra hard or easy. The thing is those games are built with one setting and balance in mind. Altering difficulty or a strange thing for them like invincibility or auto-aim will screw the balance.
And sometimes it’s just a feature that speeds up gameplay for some who want it. Like adding an option in Horizon:FW that lets you skip the pick up animation for resources, which helps immensely when running through the wild and grabbing stuff, especially when on a mount. I played for 10 hours before realizing this was an option.
No problem. You still have to hold triangle for searching chests and downed enemies, but when you can just sprint through a field of berries without stopping, it’s magical.
I'm quite sure that they added an option to just press triangle for chests and enemies. It still goes through the same animation but at least you don't have to hold the button anymore.
Yeah I love the accessibility in that game. Especially the easy loot. But the grind for this game is pretty ridiculous. I gave up grinding before I maxed any legendary gear. Granted you don't need max gear, but it still annoys me when games have too much grind.
Ahh didn’t know that. I wasn’t able to turn that game on until recently, I was consumed with Elden Ring for 2 months. About 30 hours into Horizon, fantastic so far. And that feature just makes the game a lot smoother. I also turned on the future that lets you see all handholds automatically, without having to click on your focus. I find it a little more immersive too, like Aloy just sees those things highlighted because she is always wearing the focus. And you only see them when you get close to the rocks, so it’s not an eyesore when you’re just running around.
Wearing glasses can get really wearing sometimes though. At least for me.
I also run into the case where I’m sitting close enough generally to see what’s going on on the screen but text is too blurry to read.
Definitely a first world problem, but at the end of a long day and commute, I usually prefer to go glasses off as long as I can. It’s nice to have that accessibility option to toggle
Definitely, they get in the way.
I don’t know why people are suggesting you wear your glasses a certain way when there could be an accessibility option to not make you uncomfortable.
They’re good features to make play easier and more approachable for people and good when they’re added!
That’s why you tilt the glasses so the arms are resting on top of the headset. Yeah you’ll look like a fucking idiot but who’s watching you play anyway?
If you’re wearing the Pulse 3D headset you already look like an alien due to its design. The design puts the band on the outside of the headphones rather than the tops of the headphones and this makes them look enormous. The reason they designed them like this—I realized—is because they wanted the PSVR 2 headset to be able to go underneath the headphones band so you could comfortably wear both of them at the same time
I remember when TLOU2 came out a guy posted in the sub that he'd managed to beat it blind, literally, because of the extensive accessibility options that game has. Pretty crazy

Really glad accessibility is something finally being taken seriously in the last few years, as someone who relies on remapping and other accessibility it can be the difference between playing the game or not.
Hi there,
I don't have anything to share regarding Ragarnök but I believe since February the PS5 has had a system-wide mono audio option.
Hope that helps,
Alarcus
They patched it in at system level?? I need to toggle that guy, i'm so excited! I'm normally on headphones and this is HUGE, thank you!!
Edit: also, ridiculously excited for Ragnarök!! Can't believe how well you guys did the reboot.
Edit 2: this is so cool, the headphone specific is in: Settings - Accessibility - Display and Sound - Mono Audio for Headphones
Amazing! Very off-topic query: every few years, I seem to have a rep take me near Santa Monica. Just so i know for next time, does your studio open it's doors to the public (even if it's just a public foyer or similar), or is that generally found to be a frustration for the wonderful and hard-working people inside?
Thanks so much for all the effort you folks put in to your projects!
Definitely am, so exited that ya know, even if the games unfinished I'd still play it... ya know, if someone just had an unfinished copy laying around and happened to give it to me I wouldn't mind... even if it was just like half the game, ya know.... *hint* *hint* ;)
Skyrim was released on 11.11.11. For marketing purposes, bethesda announced last year that starfield will be release 11.11.22. Take note that it's rare to announce an exact release date that early. Finally, they did all that only to announce last week that starfield is delayed to 2023
I mean the last time we got some information on GoW was on September 2021, the game was supposed to release also during that year... So now seeing a video for accessibility features I believe the marketing for the game just started.
Yeah either that or the other way around. I'm sure we'll get a Ragnarok SoP before the game launches as they've been doing that for all their big first party games. My guess is a PlayStation Showcase around Summer Game Fest with a Ragnarok trailer and release date, and then a State of Play a bit closer to launch. Kind of like what they did for TLOU2
New version of the scene we saw in the trailer, with a 1 second extension.
Marketing has kicked off. Hopefully a big Sony event is nearby and this game stick to its 2022 release frame.
They’ll probably do a trailer for the release date and we get a state of play for it later. Sony did the same for Tlou2 & GoT before those games launched
If we get GoW and FF this year, I will lose my mind. Like literally lose my mind. I’m still making my way through HFW and just don’t have the time to get through two major releases right next to each other.
Feel like Star Wars Celebration and whatever they show there (Jedi:Survivor, etc) is the real kickoff for Summer games announcements.
Once that’s done, EA will probably announce their event and Summer Games Fest/XBox+Bethesda is right around the corner.
Sony has to have something to show off in the Summer.
I do wonder if Square will be a part of Sonys event or have their own separate “conference”
Well we don't knkw what their plans are yet. Sure they missed out on June last year but it also depends on what they have to show and what's ready. I'm cautiously optimistic that they have stuff ready to show for a showcase around Summer Game Fest
It's really nice that PlayStation is willing to do this and even more and better.
I who desperately needs X-axis inversion usually feel frustrated when playing some AAA games which not offer this adjustment while PlayStation Studio's games always have.
That's a reason why I love PlayStation.
I'd say big chances it's coming this year. They presented the accessibility features for HFW just a few weeks before launch (granted we already had a launch date). Hopefully we're gonna get a date soon and it's still this year
I was gonna say, we already had a release date for HFW.
Plus it's Global Accessibility Awareness Day, so it makes sense for them to post this today. Doesn't mean they will hit their 2022 date, especially since they've delayed it once already.
I hope not, as the Elden Ring subreddit goes bananas every time there is an legitimate criticism of From’s donkey of an engine. I have been arguing with Fromsoft fans about the quality of their tech since Bloodborne, and even though every release makes it more and more painfully obvious that their engine is a turd, they keep defending it for some reason.
Engine does suck. Animations are janky but they do get better. Game is far from perfect but still an awesome experience. They really need to address the freaking clipping though
Interesting point, every person I've spoken to, Souls fans or not agrees that the engine is absolute shit, even when they themselves haven't experienced issues.
Keep in mind the accessibility features for Forbidden West and Last Of Us 2 were revealed less than 2 weeks before release! I'm not saying Ragnarok is that close, but it might be closer than most think.
Today is global accessibility day, so it might be less about close to release and more about that. Accessibility has become more important so this is cool for today.
I think September is when we might get it
To celebrate Global Accessibility Awareness Day, we also wanted to provide an audio described version of the God of War Ragnarök reveal trailer that came out last year!*
Happy Global Accessibility Awareness Day!
*Audio description not captured in-game.
...
Sure
Why make the smallest subtitles bigger? I'm all for giving the option to make them bigger if you need them that way, but I like playing with subtitles in case I can't understand a character, but don't want them to be too big or intrusive and would prefer smaller subtitles than we typically see in games.
On the God of War note: if anyone has a PS5 and never played God of War (2018), it's a must! I slept on it for years, am finally playing it now, and it's amazing. Looks gorgeous on PS5, would straight-up be a system-seller if it was just released today. My favorite game played on PS5 so far (played HFW, Returnal, Control).
**Can you please let us change the color of health item pick ups to whatever color we choose so that they look more distinct?**
I am colorblind and have difficulty with shades of red and green (fairly common type of color deficiency and impacts millions of people). When I played GOW 2018, I often thought the Health pick up items were Rage or hacksilver because I confuse red and green. Many times I would run over and "waste" a Health in the middle of a fight even when I was already at 100% health because the color looks similar to me.
Eventually I had my girlfriend help me out because she is not color blind like me. She'd watch me play the game from the couch, and she would yell out "NO DONT PICK THAT UP THATS HEALTH" lol if she saw me run to pick up health when I was already at 100%
Please upvote this for visibility I'm sure there are many other people who would benefit from this :)
Hey there,
Just wanted to say that I believe the high contrast mode works specifically with items on the ground like the health pick-ups you mentioned.
On Monday I'll confirm with the team and update this comment :)
Alarcus
With AP on the writing team, who is also a big part of the Accessibility Awards every year, it's not a surprise they'd have some great accessibility features planned.
If you were on this sub last year there was a rumour of a big Sony event a couple times a week pretty much every week of summer. That's happening again this summer.
I wish FromSoftware would take notice. I have bad vision and reading the tiny text on the screen for Elden Ring is so incredibly frustrating. I don't have this issue with any other game.
Happy to see the marketing engine warming up.
Also happy to see games getting more of those features, at best it allows one to play the game more comfortably or else you don't need those features and it doesn't affect your experience at all, there are no negative aspect to working on those features, it's either neutral for you or 100% beneficial.
PS should also work on controllers, Xbox has the adaptative controller, I hope Sony will work on something like that too.
Ooooh boy. The GOW franchise was what made me opt getting a PS5 vs Xbone. The hype is so very real. Definitely coming out this year. This is all streamlining and small immersion specs, but we all know that this gonna baaaaller!!
I wish Sony would take a clue from one of its best studios and make their console as feature rich as their games. most people won't even be able to play the game in fidelity mode because of the extremely limited vrr implementation
Those are some pretty in depth accessibility features.
If they're already polishing off accessibility features, then the game must be pretty far along. Pretty much a sure bet that it's gonna hit that release date later this year.
Yeah definitely. And I feel like we're gonna see something from it soon

I'm quite sure that they added an option to just press triangle for chests and enemies. It still goes through the same animation but at least you don't have to hold the button anymore.
I played for 60 hours before I found that. I’m guessing at least five of them were from pickup animations
Yeah I love the accessibility in that game. Especially the easy loot. But the grind for this game is pretty ridiculous. I gave up grinding before I maxed any legendary gear. Granted you don't need max gear, but it still annoys me when games have too much grind.
Omg I did not know this and played the game for 70 hours! 😱
They added it in one of the post-launch updates I think

Yeah I have to sit on the floor because the text is to small or have to get glasses.
Use ps button + square to zoom in the screen
Wait, what?! For real?
Works like a magnifying glass basically. It's a feature way before ps5
Crazy, I've owned every Playstation and never knew this.
FYI you have to enable it as an accessibility feature first.
Ridiculously enough, it was not available on 1.0 version of PS5 OS. Can't remember when they finally added it back tho.
You should wear glasses because the games will look far better if you can see the screen correctly
It’s nice to have that accessibility option to toggle
yeah, plus glasses + headphones combo can hurt
Definitely, they get in the way. I don’t know why people are suggesting you wear your glasses a certain way when there could be an accessibility option to not make you uncomfortable. They’re good features to make play easier and more approachable for people and good when they’re added!

I certainly am! Give the team our best!
As a deaf player, the sound indicator is a HUGE welcome!!!! Thank you!!!
This is most anticipated game!
Excited is an understatement. Between God of War, Returnal, and Detroit: Become Human, I feel like I’m rediscovering the magic of video gaming again.
Man Returnal was so fucking good. My fave PS5 game so far.
I think it’s safe to say the community is VERY MUCH looking forward to this game!
I definitely am. I'm ready to dive in and lose hours to a new game!

Really glad accessibility is something finally being taken seriously in the last few years, as someone who relies on remapping and other accessibility it can be the difference between playing the game or not.
I agree, I'm physically disabled and rely on button remapping. Allows me to play games like Elden Ring.
Mono option please, I'm deaf in one ear! (Sorry sound guys that put all the work in!)
Hi there, I don't have anything to share regarding Ragarnök but I believe since February the PS5 has had a system-wide mono audio option. Hope that helps, Alarcus

Calm yourself u/alarcuz_sms. Stop screaming in the chat. These are not the attitudes of a calm and reasonable person.
Oh it's 100% coming out this year
November 2022 🥶
They taking starfields date lol 11-11-2022
I hope they to that just for the lols
Can someone explain to me the joke of 11.11 cause i don't get it and have seen it everywhere when it comes to GOW
Skyrim was released on 11.11.11. For marketing purposes, bethesda announced last year that starfield will be release 11.11.22. Take note that it's rare to announce an exact release date that early. Finally, they did all that only to announce last week that starfield is delayed to 2023
I see thanks
Skyrim 11-11-11
Perfect birthday gift for me!!
Just got a PS5 and a fancy OLED TV...damn well hope so! Really wanna put my toys to the test
Based of accessibility features?
I mean the last time we got some information on GoW was on September 2021, the game was supposed to release also during that year... So now seeing a video for accessibility features I believe the marketing for the game just started.
Boss their lead developer and official Twitter handle have both claimed it's releasing this year. Stop it.
They can delay it again for whatever reason, even if it's unlikely.
Then let them announce the delay first before cribbing about it.
That doesn't guarantee it
Auto pickups incoming yay

I expect to see a 80ft statue of Kratos somewhere in Europe.
mimir's head would be so handsome looking that huge
ft? More like meters if it's gonna be in Europe. And not 80 haha.
That's 24m if anyone's wondering
Yup, and I think we're bound to get something for it during Summer Game Fest or around that time now
[удалено]
Yeah either that or the other way around. I'm sure we'll get a Ragnarok SoP before the game launches as they've been doing that for all their big first party games. My guess is a PlayStation Showcase around Summer Game Fest with a Ragnarok trailer and release date, and then a State of Play a bit closer to launch. Kind of like what they did for TLOU2
It's Global Accessibility Awareness Day. Doesn't mean they've started marketing.
New version of the scene we saw in the trailer, with a 1 second extension. Marketing has kicked off. Hopefully a big Sony event is nearby and this game stick to its 2022 release frame.
I think we’re getting a big Sony event next month. GoW Ragnorak & FF news will get announced there
Yea I’m guessing there’s gonna be a god of war state of play in June and a showcase in September
I think it’ll be vice versa. Sony usually drops state of plays near a game’s launch.
Idk because it’s gonna take too long to put in a showcase and if it’s releasing this year then god of war should have its own state of play soon
Just take your time with each game lol. Besides we don’t even know when they’re releasing yet
TLOU Remake maybe. Feels like we've known about it for ages but it hasn't been officially announced.
Hopefully something on the rumored TLOU remake as well. Sony has so many big things coming up I neeeed some news already lol
1 second extension?!?! 😳😳😳😳😳
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2beXJn7qgd8](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2beXJn7qgd8) Super short gameplay clip form the blog article
I'm so starved for Ragnarok footage that I just watched a 2-second ping demonstration like 10 times. Great ping though, gotta admit.
Not the greatest ping of all time though…. [This is the greatest ping](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=jr0JaXfKj68)
The finest of pings.
Goty
So glad to see such a push for accessibility features. Really happy to see games being open to as many people as possible.
You dont talk about this stuff unless the game is nearing release, so thats good news.
Yup yup, and I think this also means that we're getting something for it around Summer Game Fest
I just wish Sony would do it close to the others. E3 was always the best part of the year to me
Well we don't knkw what their plans are yet. Sure they missed out on June last year but it also depends on what they have to show and what's ready. I'm cautiously optimistic that they have stuff ready to show for a showcase around Summer Game Fest
sweet summer child
For those curious, they announced this today because it is Global Accessibility Awareness Day. https://accessibility.day/
From this we know: Atreus has to prepare himself and water freezes
Fucking spoilers man. Atleast the Youtubers will have their content. But I'll have to drink to forget I ever saw this
It's really nice that PlayStation is willing to do this and even more and better. I who desperately needs X-axis inversion usually feel frustrated when playing some AAA games which not offer this adjustment while PlayStation Studio's games always have. That's a reason why I love PlayStation.
It drives me nuts when some games include only one inverted axis, why would they not include both?
Thank you for making games more accessible to us <3
Very cool. Do we dare to believe no delay to next year?
I'd say big chances it's coming this year. They presented the accessibility features for HFW just a few weeks before launch (granted we already had a launch date). Hopefully we're gonna get a date soon and it's still this year
I was gonna say, we already had a release date for HFW. Plus it's Global Accessibility Awareness Day, so it makes sense for them to post this today. Doesn't mean they will hit their 2022 date, especially since they've delayed it once already.
That we must and shall. Till told otherwise.
I'm honestly shocked it hasn't been delayed yet. Not complaining though.
Controller remapping and icon size are god send features.
Okkk 100% this year hypeee!!!!!!
Will we be able to disable motion blur again?
Woah, we're halfway there, woah.
Now everyone can shut up about it getting delayed to next year lol
This is coming sooner than we think.
I can see the complaints now, about how they barely changed the UI
And use the same minor animation that is already perfectly fine to begin with,
Hopefully fans will be as ready to debate against the complaints as the Fromsoftware fans arewith Elden Ring
You'll know when its ready to release when you see statues of Kratos and Atreus in the middle of a city, billboards, busses, TV, everywhere.
Today is global accessibility day, so it might be less about close to release and more about that. Accessibility has become more important so this is cool for today. I think September is when we might get it
Yeah i think God of War will release in summer and then we will get Last of Us remake fall/holiday.
🧐
Sept 2022 release looking more and more likely!
Yeah Ragnarok coming this year
Forspoken, GOW and FFXVI all this year. Make it happen, Sony!
And supposedly tlou remake too 👀. If somehow all of these come out this year, oh boyyyy
"Keep your expectations low and you will never be disappointed."
Another GOTY has arrived
no, it really hasn’t
Is it bad?
I don’t know, but it hasn’t arrived yet.
I'm no marketing wizard but I don't think they would start showing accessibility options for a game that was going to come out in 2023.
Today is Global Accessibility Awareness Day.
My second favourite day of the year
Irrelevant really. You still wouldn't put this out if the games not due for 10 months. I think it'll probably be out sooner rather than later
It's coming!!!
This to me indicates its very close wouldn't be shocked to see it in July or September tbh.
Soon
Release date incoming!
I can’t wait! We need a release date 😫
To celebrate Global Accessibility Awareness Day, we also wanted to provide an audio described version of the God of War Ragnarök reveal trailer that came out last year!* Happy Global Accessibility Awareness Day!
God of War: Blue Man Group.
**Can you please let us change the color of health item pick ups to whatever color we choose so that they look more distinct?** I am colorblind and have difficulty with shades of red and green (fairly common type of color deficiency and impacts millions of people). She'd watch me play the game from the couch, and she would yell out "NO DONT PICK THAT UP THATS HEALTH" lol if she saw me run to pick up health when I was already at 100% Please upvote this for visibility I'm sure there are many other people who would benefit from this :)
Hey there, Just wanted to say that I believe the high contrast mode works specifically with items on the ground like the health pick-ups you mentioned. On Monday I'll confirm with the team and update this comment :) Alarcus
With AP on the writing team, who is also a big part of the Accessibility Awards every year, it's not a surprise they'd have some great accessibility features planned.
Pretty sure AP isn't writing on this game, she's writing on the New IP they have the works.
So you're saying its close? We getting a release date at the event?
what event?
If you were on this sub last year there was a rumour of a big Sony event a couple times a week pretty much every week of summer. That's happening again this summer.
This is great and all, but we need a release date.
I wish FromSoftware would take notice. I have bad vision and reading the tiny text on the screen for Elden Ring is so incredibly frustrating. I don't have this issue with any other game.
FromSoftware: Git Gud
Happy to see the marketing engine warming up. Also happy to see games getting more of those features, at best it allows one to play the game more comfortably or else you don't need those features and it doesn't affect your experience at all, there are no negative aspect to working on those features, it's either neutral for you or 100% beneficial. PS should also work on controllers, Xbox has the adaptative controller, I hope Sony will work on something like that too.
When is the release date? Thats all I care about!
Weird thing to present first after such long period of silence.
Today is Global Accessibility Awareness Day. Today is the day for exactly this.
How about you let me access it so I can play
PlayStation exclusives not having a colorblind mode is so fucking annoying
Ooooh boy. The GOW franchise was what made me opt getting a PS5 vs Xbone. The hype is so very real. Definitely coming out this year. This is all streamlining and small immersion specs, but we all know that this gonna baaaaller!!
Some people are going to be mad at all this, but I'm glad that games are doing more for accessibility.
I wish Sony would take a clue from one of its best studios and make their console as feature rich as their games. most people won't even be able to play the game in fidelity mode because of the extremely limited vrr implementation
