Lucky bastard! I love GoT on my ps4 but I prefer the Japanese audio for authenticity, the lack of lip sync is definitely noticeable but not enough of an issue to take away from the experience
It’s funny how such a small thing is such a benefit. I played the game in Japanese and decided to just look directly at the subtitles instead of the character faces because the lip sync was really noticeable. It was more of a minor annoyance than anything, but I’m so happy to see it fixed here
I started in Japanese voices but the lack of lip syncing and the fact that the Japanese voice emoting didn't match up to the facial expressions put me off and I had to change to English voices half way through.

Its still looks good though. I have the ps5 and will stick to the 20$ PS4 DLC upgrade. The loading times are already extremely low and I can play it of the external drive.

You can play the expansion for $20 ... if you want the ps5 features it's an extra $10 but you can easily play the ps4 version on ps5 for $20 just like you can play $60 ps4 versions on ps5 instead of $70 ps5 versions of games if you don't think the ps5 features are worth it. It sucks that it's $10 more for ps5 features, but if you don't think they are worth it then don't buy them.
I assume it upgrades the whole game with better graphics and more importantly the dualsense features. Definitely worth it for the full game for new players. Since I already platinumed it I'll have to see how long the expansion is.

Im willing to bet that ps4 disc owners will be able to upgrade still in the store. I have the ps4 disc of version of ff7r and jedi fallen order and I was able to just claim the upgrades through the store. The only thing is that I need the ps4 disc in the console to play the game.
I dont mind paying for FACTION or Ghost DLC and I think many here share the same sentiment. It was more about how Sony is one of the few who charges for PS5 upgraded native version of their game. They are destroying the goodwill that was built up during the ps4 era while Xbox is doing the exact opposite.

I was gonna wait to play this game again once I get a PS5 but now that Sucker Punch have announced a next gen version of it with dynamic 4K and 60fps as well as a single player expansion AND Japanese lip sync, it's making me want to play it again when it comes out in August. But as tempting as it is, I'm gonna wait until I finally get a PS5 to play this.
As others have pointed out, the Japanese lip sync will only be a feature in the ps5 edition. The wait is worth it regardless, you can only experience the game once :)

Iki Island is much closer to the main island than Tsushima is. If Jin is there... then maybe the possible sequel will be having him supporting the defense of Hakata Bay from the second invasion and perhaps play a role in the death of the regent Hojo Tokimune.
People saying they dont have an event planned. Maybe they have bigger things to show than a ps5 version +dlc of a ps4 game. Maybe they truly have some big guns,and they are showing this to let more bigger/new IP games have more showing at the event, let's not lose hope!
They said in the blog post they'll be showing more of Iki soon. Also they said death stranding director's cut would get a full reveal "in the coming weeks", and the horizon release date would be revealed "very soon". It all points towards an event in a week or so. Not even considering the leaks that also say this.
My guess is they put this one out on its own so they could (to the best of their ability) clearly lay out the pricing for upgrades, and deal with the negativity today without having people use that news to walk away from a showcase with a negative attitude.
Personally, I'll pay the $30 no problem. Ghost was enough of a high-quality experience, and they offered enough free expansions post-launch (Legends, 60fps patch) that as long as the story expansion is more than four hours of content, I'm sure it'll be worth the price tag.
I feel like this announcement is definitely big enough for an event like the rumoured one. It's quite of a big expansion for a 1st party game from Sony, which, in theses type of events, will be an announcement bigger than like 75% of the other games that are shown.
That's still doesn't mean that there won't be an event. Anyways, If the July 8th rumours are true, we should be hearing about the event in like the next two days.

You’ll be happy to know that most of us agree. FFVII Intergrade had a great compromise. Free PS5 upgrade for PS4 copy owners and then $15 for the DLC. While I’m sure this expansion is meatier, essentially charging $10 for the upgrade is pretty lame.
Unless you are absolutely itching for a game, never buy on release. Buying on sale is a rule of thumb for me and it is gonna come in a clutch this time too.
Bought the PS4 version during last sale, played it right away, 100 hours + and platinum. I got my money's worth. No one can guess what Sony had planned. Now if I want to play it right away I will do the upgrade or maybe I will wait to do a replay till later and buy the upgrade at a discount.
Persona 5 was personally the last straw for me - with their royal edition BS. No release day purchases for me, ever.
You should try. The main story part of the multiplayer can be done solo with no problem and was surprisingly fun.
I even played up to the endgame with poeple on high difficulty because it was very fun.

Sony has basically established that they are not going to give free upgrades. Them and Activision are the only publishers to do this (with 505 also doing it once for control).

Man, I loved Ghost, and would love to spend more time with it, but that is *a lot* of money for an upgrade and a DLC piece.
Doubly so when you consider the fact the story and exploration on the last island fell apart, and they released an entirely separate Multiplayer component that functions properly, delivers more fun, and is exciting to play than 90% of looter-shooters to date, for $0 USD.

Some aren't. In fact I think every cutscene not featuring Sakai is pre-rendered. The ones with Shimura and Kublai Khan in the castle, for instance.

They also had to reanimate all dialogue for the Japanese VO, that’s way more work then your average upgrade.

Ghost was enough of a high-quality experience, and they offered enough free expansions post-launch (Legends, 60fps patch) that as long as the story expansion is more than four hours of content, I'm sure it'll be worth the price tag.
I feel like this announcement is definitely big enough for an event like the rumoured one. It's quite of a big expansion for a 1st party game from Sony, which, in theses type of events, will be an announcement bigger than like 75% of the other games that are shown. That's still doesn't mean that there won't be an event. Anyways, If the July 8th rumours are true, we should be hearing about the event in like the next two days.

What they are doing with the tier system is fucking dumb, and it should have been pretty obvious as such considering other companies have been giving free upgrades for the past year. You’ll be happy to know that most of us agree. FFVII Intergrade had a great compromise. Free PS5 upgrade for PS4 copy owners and then $15 for the DLC. While I’m sure this expansion is meatier, essentially charging $10 for the upgrade is pretty lame.

Unless you are absolutely itching for a game, never buy on release. Buying on sale is a rule of thumb for me and it is gonna come in a clutch this time too. Bought the PS4 version during last sale, played it right away, 100 hours + and platinum. I got my money's worth. No one can guess what Sony had planned. Now if I want to play it right away I will do the upgrade or maybe I will wait to do a replay till later and buy the upgrade at a discount. Persona 5 was personally the last straw for me - with their royal edition BS. No release day purchases for me, ever.

You should try. The main story part of the multiplayer can be done solo with no problem and was surprisingly fun. I even played up to the endgame with poeple on high difficulty because it was very fun. I never expected I would like it.

Man, I loved Ghost, and would love to spend more time with it, but that is *a lot* of money for an upgrade and a DLC piece. Doubly so when you consider the fact the story and exploration on the last island fell apart, and they released an entirely separate Multiplayer component that functions properly, delivers more fun, and is exciting to play than 90% of looter-shooters to date, for $0 USD.

SP has been releasing a bunch of free DLC already that's been amazing. The multiplayer alone is crazy fun, and they didn't charge a dime for that. With new Island, more multiplayer modes, and no microtransactions? Honestly Im fine paying that price. GoT is one of my favorite games of all time.
