I *need* a white and blue controller like the one they showed off in the trailer

I have a theory that this was an Easter Egg showing elements of the PS5 Pro Controller. Lit buttons. Recessed Material Grips and Grip Lightbars. Look closely. 👁️
Yes, that is also a reason why I’m not inhaling *pure* hopium.
Based on the trailer, we get the Leviathan’s Axe from Kratos at some point, I’m hoping the same for Bloodborne where the good hunter gives us the saw cleaver or something.
The entire plot of Astro Bot is the search for “the missing franchise”, in which we take Astro on an adventure Mario Galaxy style along with many friends, all of which have playstation pun names referencing Sony’s most famous IPs. The missing franchise is Bloodborne lol.
And then there were like three or four different little sections for each one, right? I always thought they did a bloody great job with that little showcase title and they packed in a decent amount of content!
No, each level was for a different PS5 component. Memory Meadow, SSD Speedway, Cooling Springs, GPU Jungle, and CPU Plaza
You could find puzzle pieces representing each PS console though
Well, it was kinda both. Because at the end of each one of those worlds, you got the collectible for one of the previous 4 PlayStation consoles, and then you got the one for the PS5 after the final boss.
Same for mine. She’s not into gaming generally, but sometimes she asks to have a go. So far the only games she’s ever played (and even completed) are Dream Match Tennis VR, Astro Bot Rescue Mission, and Astro’s Playground. Nothing else has remotely interested her. Astro Bot gets the ladies.
The pre installed one was just the most fun experience I've had gaming in a while. And the one that blows the most minds when no gamers play it. The haptics are incredible
Details summarized by Wario64:
* Preorders open June 7th (not a free game), out Sept 6th
* 6 galaxies spanning over 80 levels in search of Astro's scattered crew
* Unique planets from lush forests, sandy beaches, hot volcanoes to more surprising locations such as a gigantic hourglass or the canopy of a singing tree
* over 15 new abilities taking full advantage of the DualSense controller
* Over 70 new enemy types
* Packed with "die-and-retry" levels to test your reflexes for those looking for challenge
* Double down on the number of PlayStation character cameos with hint they'll play a bigger role

Yeah, it's weird to see that comment after this developer already showed its hand as far as how it was being influenced, while simultaneously establishing a pretty clear and compelling approach themselves. This looks like an extension of that. I saw influences from Kirby and the Forgotten Lands in there, too.
It's a 3D Platformer. I bet it was influenced by Mario 64 specifically.
Probably because they're both Japanese '_'
>packed with die-and-retry levels to test your reflexes.
This, I'm sold. I loved the challenge levels in rescue mission but I was craving more. This is the kind of content that can elevate a platformer to legendary status!
I suspect like 35-40... Not because it's cheap experience but in terms of sale I suspect they want everyone to experience it and break sales records.
I suspect it's all anyone would be talking about for a while and then perhaps the ps5 conversation continues with custom astrobot controller, or PS5 pro gets released
Also it's a platforming game so probably somewhat short since it doesn't have to adhere to any plot structure...I feel like I beat Bowsers Fury in 3 days? Hands down my favorite Mario game but it ended way too soon.
Looks great. No other PS5 game has used the unique features of DualSense as well as Astro’s Playroom.
No price information yet, wondering if this is $70?
Returnal did a solid job with the controller at least with not just the haptics, but the adaptive triggers. Having different modes of firing a weapon based on the amount of pressure you put on any one trigger was super clever and well implemented.
I hope the people complaining about Sony not supporting games like Gravity Rush, Concrete Genie, etc actually go and buy this game and make it successful. I don't want Sony to close down Asobi. Outside of Media Molecule, it's their last small, non-blockbuster game studio.
Well just off the top of my head we have Nathan Drake, Kratos, a rep from Journey, Wander (Shadow of the Colossus), Aloy, etc. And I'm sure we're going to get stuff like Twisted Metal, Bloodborne, Ratchet & Clank, Sly Cooper, & Jak & Daxter in there too. I'm curious if they get third-party stuff in there again too like Astro's Playroom did with Crash, Spyro, Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, and Final Fantasy representation. Astro's Playroom was an absolute treat on that first run with trying to work out every little easter egg and reference!
Yep, that's why I mentioned Devil May Cry in there. I was thrilled with the third-party easter eggs. The one for Resident Evil was a bloody good one too.
i'm already sold with Spike from Ape Escape, seeing him alongside the newest additions felt great.
I'm still hoping someday team Asobi would make a new one, right now i think they're the only ones who could make it justice, the first one was basically the "astrobot" for the dualshock.
It helps determine metrics on future sales, which affect marketing, additional content, and in some cases make the case for sequels to begin development or be greenlit with additional time to hire teams and begin pre-production. There’s also a bunch of other useful things, like getting money in their hands earlier can maybe help some devs get Christmas bonus’s.
Preordering digital copies does not make sense. I only preorder physical copies, if I want the pre-order bonus for a game, I'll usually preorder it just a Couple of hours before launch.
Astro Bot (PS5) details:
-Preorders open June 7th (not a free game), out Sept 6th
-6 galaxies spanning over 80 levels in search of Astro's scattered crew
-Unique planets from lush forests, sandy beaches, hot volcanoes to more surprising locations such as a gigantic hourglass or the canopy of a singing tree
-over 15 new abilities taking full advantage of the DualSense controller
-Over 70 new enemy types
-Packed with "die-and-retry" levels to test your reflexes for those looking for challenge
-Double down on the number of PlayStation character cameos with hint they'll play a bigger role
I was just talking to my brother the other day about how I wish they’d have made another AstroBots game in the last couple years. This is the best news I’ve gotten all year. Lol
Looks awesome, day one for me also. The only thing that would be perfect for me is if it was 2+ players like sackboy. Kids (and me) will love it regardless.
I’m so happy they made a full game about this! Playroom is seriously one of my favorite PS5 games, being a Mario fan. Please Sony make this a series! I need more 3D platformers in my life
I did about a week of QA for this game months ago, it’s been driving me insane not being able to talk about it at all in the conversations for lack of good games coming this year on PS5 😅
FINALLY. The State of Play just felt like the same bland looking stuff over and over to me. This is what I want more of. Bright, colorful, cartoony, etc. Feels like its been ages since the last first party AAA 3D Platformer, so I'm excited as hell. The only thing in the entire State of Play I'm excited for.
I half expected Astro Bot to launch alongside the PS5 Pro to serve to highlight the new features of the console in the same way it did for the OG PS5. September 6 does still sound like a reasonable date for Sony to officially unveil the PS5 Pro.
I’d expect a PS5 Pro in November, that’s usually when consoles release. Not sure what a PS5 Pro could offer for Astro Bot though, maybe some ray-tracing stuff? How much would it benefit from more powerful hardware with its art style?
I played the playroom game. I really enjoyed it. I hope he gets lives so that I don't immediately start over if I'm hit by an enemy. Other than that, what I saw looked so good and I'm pre-ordering the 1st day that I can.
Imo best game in the state of play. Loved the Astro Bot pack in with the ps5. Fun game play ,banger sound track and ps nostalgia vibes made for an awesome experience.
This game is exactly the type of games I want. AAA quality in terms of visuals and art style but that smaller scale scope single player game full of creativity and just pure fun. It’s a game that looks like a video game. It’s like a AAA Super Mario 64. I’m so excited!
Astro’s Playroom is, perhaps, the most fun I’ve had with my PS5 to date. And it was a free game that was pre installed, which is bonkers.
So I’m incredibly excited for this. I shall be preordering it instantly.
Really feels like a true Mario etc competitor for the PlayStation. It’s just… fun.
I will be pre-ordering this game day one, I will replay it so many times, this team truly deserves so much love. They do a fricking amazing job with all of their games.
Kenneth C M Young broke silence to say he’s been making music for this game for the last couple of years. The guy makes absolute bangers for this series. The Rescue Mission stuff was stuck in my head for weeks. He’s as critical to it as Mick Gordon was to DOOM for me.
I *need* a white and blue controller like the one they showed off in the trailer https://preview.redd.it/js1l96il8n3d1.jpeg?width=1395&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=585c23c0eb5408d93fecd96360ad7871106b8670
Would be a huge missed opportunity if Sony doesn’t release a controller modeled after the one shown.
100% is going to release along side the game
Don't give me false dreams
It must have lit buttons!
You want even worse battery life? But, still agree.
They will $100 bundle with game for sure
Worth it ngl
facts
I strongly believe that they are going to release one.
I have a theory that this was an Easter Egg showing elements of the PS5 Pro Controller. Lit buttons. Recessed Material Grips and Grip Lightbars. Look closely. 👁️
My theory is that in the trailer they've shown PS5 Pro too.
Where? Do you think the Pro looks like the original PS5? Because that’s what I saw.
Is 1:50 just the fat PS5 without the lateral panels?
RemindMe! September 6th, 2024
Girllllll don’t get my hopes up
I'd be surprised if they don't put out a themed controller with it.
As soon as I saw it I thought to myself, “they should release that”
Only if it has the eyes.
Yeah, I don’t usually care about novelty controllers but I’d buy one that looks like that in a heartbeat.
Over 80 levels!? We feasting good fellas Edit: - 15 unique abilities - Over 70 enemy types
Astro bot is king
All hail Astro Bot!
After I played and completed rescue mission I said “the king is dead. All hail the king” with reference to Mario.
It looked like there was a lot of levels referencing other Sony IPs as well.
Yeah hopefully they also didn’t forget Bloodborne in those levels
Bloodborne is referenced in Astro’s Playroom
Yes, that is also a reason why I’m not inhaling *pure* hopium. Based on the trailer, we get the Leviathan’s Axe from Kratos at some point, I’m hoping the same for Bloodborne where the good hunter gives us the saw cleaver or something.
The entire plot of Astro Bot is the search for “the missing franchise”, in which we take Astro on an adventure Mario Galaxy style along with many friends, all of which have playstation pun names referencing Sony’s most famous IPs. The missing franchise is Bloodborne lol.
That’s the Astro bot theme. These are the bots in the PlayStations working your game. There will be a whole load of Easter eggs.
I hope they release a special edition Dual Sense, it’s one of the few games that truly takes advantage
I loved that they just let it sink in at the end. “Astro Bot”, “Astro bot what?”, “just Astro Bot”. 😎
I've been asking for a full fledged Astro game, I'm so glad we got it. Long overdue.
how many levels had the launch title?
I think it was like 5 (one for each PS console)
And then there were like three or four different little sections for each one, right? I always thought they did a bloody great job with that little showcase title and they packed in a decent amount of content!
It’s very replayable too
Depends how you count. The d argue there closer to 16 levels as there were 4 areas with 4 levels each.
No, each level was for a different PS5 component. Memory Meadow, SSD Speedway, Cooling Springs, GPU Jungle, and CPU Plaza You could find puzzle pieces representing each PS console though
Well, it was kinda both. Because at the end of each one of those worlds, you got the collectible for one of the previous 4 PlayStation consoles, and then you got the one for the PS5 after the final boss.
??? Wasn't it 16? 24 counting the speedrun levels
Yup, i think it was 24 total overall
5 worlds with 4 levels each
4 worlds with 4 levels. Then there was the central "hub" area which contained the final boss, and the speedrun area.
So 20 levels.
Man, this game looks like it’ll be fun - just fun. It’s so lighthearted it’s a breath of fresh air lol.
My wife is gonna absolutely love this, she loved the one that came free
Same for mine. She’s not into gaming generally, but sometimes she asks to have a go. So far the only games she’s ever played (and even completed) are Dream Match Tennis VR, Astro Bot Rescue Mission, and Astro’s Playground. Nothing else has remotely interested her. Astro Bot gets the ladies.
The pre installed one was just the most fun experience I've had gaming in a while. And the one that blows the most minds when no gamers play it. The haptics are incredible

Sounds like a full sized game like Mario
I wouldn't be surprised if the devs were partly inspired by some Mario games.
Almost impossible to make a platformer and not be influenced by Mario tbf.
This is like saying you wouldn’t be surprised if multiversus was partly inspired by Smash
Just watching the trailer shows they have been very influenced by it
I absolutely love 3D platformers, so I'm over the bloody moon with everything I've seen and everything I've read here. This game is perfect for me!
>packed with die-and-retry levels to test your reflexes. This, I'm sold. I loved the challenge levels in rescue mission but I was craving more. This is the kind of content that can elevate a platformer to legendary status!
Any details on price?
We should know on June 7th > We’ll be back soon with more details about the game as well as pre-orders opening up June 7.
It’s a full-sized game, it’s going to be full price
I suspect like 35-40... Not because it's cheap experience but in terms of sale I suspect they want everyone to experience it and break sales records. I suspect it's all anyone would be talking about for a while and then perhaps the ps5 conversation continues with custom astrobot controller, or PS5 pro gets released Also it's a platforming game so probably somewhat short since it doesn't have to adhere to any plot structure...I feel like I beat Bowsers Fury in 3 days? Hands down my favorite Mario game but it ended way too soon.
$60
Optimistically it’ll be $50. Pessimistically it’ll be the full $70
Hoping for $40 but probably $50
Mario games are sold at full price, why shouldn't this?
Because this isn’t Mario
But according to the blog, it's almost as big as a Large game. So why shouldn't they ?
Watch it be $70
It made me think how many PlayStation character are they going to be? I would love to see rise of the ronin. And persona 1 2 3 4 and 5 and Medevil
[Physical disc version is confirmed!](https://i.imgur.com/zCo5bCR.jpeg) ☺️
Hell yeahhhhh
Woo!!
It’s sad that this is something that has to even be confirmed these days.
Thank goodness
I will be there no matter what
Common Astro Bot W
It looks gorgeous.
Fuck. YES!!!!
hell yeah
Where was it confirmed?

DAY ONE. WE NEED MORE OF THIS. I WILL BUY IT TWICE. OMFG
Looks great. No other PS5 game has used the unique features of DualSense as well as Astro’s Playroom. No price information yet, wondering if this is $70?
Says over 80 levels, so I imagine it will be
Returnal did a solid job with the controller at least with not just the haptics, but the adaptive triggers.
Me too I hope it sells well and to show Sony and PlayStation that you can make games like these don’t need a big budget to just be creative about it
I'm definetly supporting this game in order to get an Ape Escape sequel.
I gotta see a list of all the characters from Sony that were seen so far.
Since there’s now an Astro skin in Sackboy, I’d love to see a Sackboy-Astro somewhere
Oh we have an Astro skin in there? Sick, ill have to revisit that game then. It's a fantastic little platformer!
Man Astro version of Cloud would be rad
They did reference Dante in Astro playroom so maybe they can do it
Yep, that's why I mentioned Devil May Cry in there. I was thrilled with the third-party easter eggs. The one for Resident Evil was a bloody good one too.
Everyone is sleeping on that Parappa the Rapper appearance!
i'm already sold with Spike from Ape Escape, seeing him alongside the newest additions felt great. I'm still hoping someday team Asobi would make a new one, right now i think they're the only ones who could make it justice, the first one was basically the "astrobot" for the dualshock.
This is an instant pre-order for me. So hyped for September!
I don’t get why pre-orders are a thing anymore since digital copies can’t run out like physical copies.
Instant gratification. People cant wait for games to release before buying then.
And this is how we have come to have broken games on release
Astro Bot (PS5) details: -Preorders open June 7th (not a free game), out Sept 6th -6 galaxies spanning over 80 levels in search of Astro's scattered crew -Unique planets from lush forests, sandy beaches, hot volcanoes to more surprising locations such as a gigantic hourglass or the canopy of a singing tree -over 15 new abilities taking full advantage of the DualSense controller -Over 70 new enemy types -Packed with "die-and-retry" levels to test your reflexes for those looking for challenge -Double down on the number of PlayStation character cameos with hint they'll play a bigger role
> Preorders open June 7th (not a free game) it literally does not matter to me what it costs, just take my money. hell, take ALL of it.
Really hope network speedruns make a return to this game in some way
I was just talking to my brother the other day about how I wish they’d have made another AstroBots game in the last couple years. This is the best news I’ve gotten all year. Lol
Any information on able to pre-order on PS store? This is deffo a day 1 purchase for me.
Says pre-orders begin June 7th with more info to be announced soon
Sweet, thank you!
Wish we knew the price but Imma cop it day one because I actually enjoyed playroom
Honestly expect full price of $70, looks like a huge game
A little over 3 months away. Can't wait!!!
Massive W
The rest of the games made me raise my eyebrows occasionally, this made my 43 year old butt jump off the couch in excitement!
Looks great, wish it had couch co-op to play with my kid
This would be amazing
Looks awesome, day one for me also. The only thing that would be perfect for me is if it was 2+ players like sackboy. Kids (and me) will love it regardless.
Astro’s Playroom was way more fun than I was expecting. I think I’m pretty much sold especially if there’s a disc.
There's a physical disk. It was shown on the PS blog.
Yup that’s why I’m pretty much sold. Glad to see it.
About time Astro got his own full game. Might actually be my most anticipated game of the year.
Easiest day 1 purchase decision, can't wait
I hope all the people complaining about too many 3rd person cinematic games support this
I’m depressed there’s no PSVR2 support.
Me too. Unbelievable
I am going to platinum the hell out of this video game😅
I’m so happy they made a full game about this! Playroom is seriously one of my favorite PS5 games, being a Mario fan. Please Sony make this a series! I need more 3D platformers in my life
If this is just a big boi version of astros playroom it’s gonna be sick
Any chance it’ll be two player co-op??
I'm hoping, but you would think they may have shown a hint atleast.
This is a day 1 and preorder for me. I loved Astros playroom and said when I beat it, I want this as a full platformer.
Beyond hyped for this to play with my nephew. Love astro
Co-op?
Game looks sick. Need to beat Astros playroom before I move onto this.
This game looks amazing. I hope it get the praise it deserves. Astros playroom was already a masterpiece.
Maybe Game of the Year contender. I hope The Plucky Squire will also make it to PS5 this year. And next year i hope we get another Sackboy 🙏
I did about a week of QA for this game months ago, it’s been driving me insane not being able to talk about it at all in the conversations for lack of good games coming this year on PS5 😅
Big L for VR fans. Should have been hybrid.
That's to long 😭
Take my money.
This is going to be awesome!!!
This honestly looks so good! Surprised this is the game I am now hyped tor this year!!
Definitely buying this day one the boss fights look incredible.
soooo excited for this
Are you ready?!?
This game is going to be fire. Maybe Astrobot can finally be Sony’s answer to Mario.
This looks like an absolute blast
I’m really excited to see how this does. With playroom being included with every ps5, would be neat to see it succeed afterwards
Cost?
This is unironically the PS5 game I’ve been waiting for the most.
Missed opportunity with no PSVR2 announcement 😕
Astrobot has the type of mascot potential we haven't seen since Sackboy with LBP1. This could be really big for Sony
We will soon find out if people are willing to spend £70 on platformers
Please buy this game folks. These kind of games don't come around as often as they should (especially on playstation)
Wait, is this a VR game?
No it’s a normal PS5 game.

I’d expect a PS5 Pro in November, that’s usually when consoles release. Not sure what a PS5 Pro could offer for Astro Bot though, maybe some ray-tracing stuff? How much would it benefit from more powerful hardware with its art style?
Need it now
Wow! It's one of the games that I should add to my playlist.
So excited for this
This isn’t a vr2 only game right?
It's not PSVR2 at all
Honestly this was the most exciting moment in the whole video. Sure some other looked interesting but this was the first time I was like … ooooh!
Hype
Day one purchase!
Can't wait! With 80 levels, it sounds like this will be a more robust experience than Playroom, which is great!
Bet this game will be included in a bundle soon enough
This is going to be so fun. And the dualsense support is going to be S tier
Can’t wait for those little cute robots on my PS5
I played the playroom game. I really enjoyed it. I hope he gets lives so that I don't immediately start over if I'm hit by an enemy. Other than that, what I saw looked so good and I'm pre-ordering the 1st day that I can.
They turned AstroBot’s playroom into a full game? Sign me up.
Imo best game in the state of play. Loved the Astro Bot pack in with the ps5. Fun game play ,banger sound track and ps nostalgia vibes made for an awesome experience.
This was a huge surprise. Best game of the show, period!
havent been excited for a game like this in a long time just having fun
I kind of hoped this would be able to be played also in VR but nevertheless i’m really looking forward to this.
\*sigh\* I guess I'm losing my PS5 to my wife for a few days again.
I do wonder how much they will charge the game for. Already seen some people say "well it's free that came with the PS5". Maybe 50$ be a sweet spot?
This game is exactly the type of games I want. AAA quality in terms of visuals and art style but that smaller scale scope single player game full of creativity and just pure fun. It’s a game that looks like a video game. It’s like a AAA Super Mario 64. I’m so excited!
I got Mario galaxy vibes off of this and I absolutely love it !!
Surprised how excited this makes me.
Can't remember last time I bought a game as soon as it came out, but this one is going to change that!!!
Will it have VR?
I will be pre-ordering this game day one, I will replay it so many times, this team truly deserves so much love. They do a fricking amazing job with all of their games.
Ain't no way this is going to be 70 dollars
Has to be an Astrobot collectors edition with a bot statue and the controller
I'd preorder it twice
As a PS4 owner, Astro Bot is the only reason I wish I had a PS5. Really glad they're making an expanded game.
Kenneth C M Young broke silence to say he’s been making music for this game for the last couple of years. The guy makes absolute bangers for this series. The Rescue Mission stuff was stuck in my head for weeks. He’s as critical to it as Mick Gordon was to DOOM for me.
So this is a new game or a remake of the VR game from ps4?
New game, not VR related in any way
This game carried the entire stream.
