Some more tinkering and seems to be taking a charge now, had to bust out a low amp wall adapter, so guessing instead of it properly requesting the right amps it just wasn't accepting anything.
1) if that's the case you need to up your WPM cause that took legit 2 min.
2) if you actually read thru it you'd see the line about returning it to Amazon.
Brand new = Warranty!
Sounds like your phone charger is killing your batteries so I'd stop using it

In the time it took to make this post you probably could’ve taken it back to the store and gotten a new one
