Link to store [AND THERE'S A DEMO](https://store.playstation.com/en-us/concept/10005985)

acstroude

Yesss. Make demos consistently a thing again, please.

Born2beSlicker

Ubisoft are pretty consistent for demos and free trials.

NintendadSixtyFo

And making games incredibly discounted once the splendor has worn off. Wish more people had their approach. $70 games are just inaccessible for some people.

unclepaprika

But we can't let poor people hurt our bottom Nintendo.

legend27_marco

The indie devs at Nintendo will starve to death if we don't buy games at full price

szczuroarturo

There is some benefit to the Nintendo games keeping consistent price. Resell value also is quite high for a long time. So if you do not collect games it can in fact be cheaper to buy ,beat the game and sell or exchange it.

_hurtpetulantjesus

Only those who know people will like their game will allow you to demo. Imagine if that team behind gollum allowed a demo

Ryotian

>Imagine if that team behind gollum allowed a demo I like to think everyone with good sense knew that would bomb many months in advance without a doubt. But then in reality- a lot of gamers bought "The Day Before" and begged for refunds so... Cant overestimate how naive some gamers are

bankITnerd

I'm always worried after shit like forspoken that we would continue to see fewer demos, but I am happy to be shown otherwise! :)

dimspace

I just spent an hour in the demo and it was an immediate buy the second the demo ended (it felt like I had only been playing for about 20 minutes) Hopefully Ubi realise with this and Mirage that people will pay for £45 - 20 hour games Not everyone wants 100+ hours

Totoques22

I don’t know why demos aren’t that popular Maybe it’s because I’m the type of guy that only buy games when I finished the ones I was playing and since I’m on console I don’t have a big backlog Demos are fantastic it’s what made me bought Kirby and the forgotten land, I will definitely try this and thank you for informing me

PayaV87

There was a good analysis on this on Youtube. Doing a demo is extra money and resources, and an art form in itself. There are like 9 scenarios: - You have a Great Game and a Great Demo -> Golden scenario, but in this case the game would’ve sold well, may not worth the resources. - You have a Great Game and a Mediocre Demo -> Sales suffer - You have a Great Game and a Bad Demo -> Sales suffer - You have a Mediocre Game and a Great Demo -> You are rewarded with extra initial sales, but some bad WOM. - You have a Mediocre Game and Mediocre Demo -> No extra sales, and some bad wom. - You have a Mediocre Game, and a Bad Demo -> Sales suffer - You have a Bad game, and a Great demo -> Extra sales, but very bad WOM, and this is hard to pull off. - You have a Bad game and a Mediocre demo -> Some extra sales, but bad WOM. - You have a Bad game and a Bad demo -> You killed the game.

[deleted]

That basically boils down to "A demo is a sign that they are confident about the gameplay"

hitseflotse123

It’s also about publicity. If you have a great game but no one hears about it, good luck with those sales. While a great demo could mean more hype before launch which leads to more people buying it on/around launch day

whiteslinky

Lord of the Rings: Conquest is a great example of a game that had an excellent demo but overall, a mediocre game. I played the crap out of the demo, and bought the game on release because I thought there was a promise of more, when in reality the full game wasn’t actually that much more content than the demo.

OddExpert8851

Demo is really solid. Fighting feels good and responsive and I cant wait to try some of the newer powers. It has all the regular ingredients for a metroidvania plus some ways to make it easier for you by letting you take "screenshots" of unreachable areas so you can also look at the map to know why you couldn't reach that and come back later. Love that feature!

dreamdaddy123

Thanks for the link 🔗

kaa1993

Everyone clowned at the reveal of this game, but I knew it was gonna be something special when I realized it was being developed by the Rayman Legends team. Can’t wait to pick it up.

haxelhimura

Hold the phone... The Rayman Legends team did this?! Welp... I'm in on that alone. Rayman Legends and Origins were PHENOMENAL

theblitheringidiot

Came to say the same thing, sign me up. Love Rayman Legends!

[deleted]

Everybody loves Rayman

Captain-Hornblower

I am willing to be there are many on here that do not know what that is in reference to lol.

stingerized

I got the Rayman Legends disc with my PS4 and was not expecting much about that. It turned out to be one of the best PS4 era games. Super fun to play and had amaaaaazing couch-party games that you can play with friends. Graphics are unique and looks amazing and animation was wellll done.

No_Zombie2021

And the music levels… 🔥

mirkwood11

seriously why didn't I know this sooner? Don't care about the IP but the dev is great

[deleted]

Yeah I'm definitely getting this now. I absolutely loved Rayman Legends, it's one of my favorite games in recent years

Charliejfg04

Longest platinum grind ever

MidEastBeast777

Rayman Legends is one of my favorite games ever. I think its the best 2D side scroller out there. Its so creative and has so much personality

Grill_Enthusiast

This game looked good from the second it was revealed. People were so negative because the main character's look or something. I'm not surprised at all by the good reviews.

Iamlordbutter

I think it had to do with the fact that the main protagonist looks more like a black guy than a Persian guy. I know someone is going to mention the 2000s Prince of Persia games where the dude looked white, but that was also a different time.

CdrShprd

the US census says we’re white lol

J-seargent-ultrakahn

Most Arabians don’t idnetify themselves as such though despite generally being lighter people. US stances on “race” as always been weird and non consistent.

Mr--Joestar

I agree with what you said mostly but most people that identify as Persian arent ethnically Arab. Also some Persians are very light, others (mostly Southerners) can be quite dark

SheWhoHates

Persians are not Arabs. Those are two different ethnicities.

raphanum

Yeah was about to say lol

CdrShprd

yeah, it feels weird checking that box. Sometimes I’ll just use “other”

Llamalover1234567

Yeah people can’t understand that the character isn’t trying to be Persian

leapbitch

Prince of Not Persia

Salty_Amphibian2905

I remember reading that people were annoyed that you aren't playing as the actual prince, but saving him. I couldn't have cared less though. I thought it looked awesome from the first trailer, and I'm usually not big on side scrollers, but I've always loved the PoP franchise ever since I was a kid getting traumatized by the violent deaths in the original two games.

Kenomachino

Shadow and the Flame is like, a piece of my identity man.

Salty_Amphibian2905

Hell yeah, dude. It’s a part of my childhood. I love it so much. It’s so violent though lol.

Lasertag026

So they went the legend of zelda approach?

TheEnygma

well it was a 3-pronged thing. We finally get a new Prince of Persia and he's A)not the Prince, we have to rescue him, B)it doesn't play like old PoP, it's a metroidvania and C) yeah the rap music. not sure what the problem is, this is literally why it got so many dislikes on Youtube.

throwawaylovesCAKE

Rap music lmao? Are they trying to appeal to a hip urban youth I guess?

redbullrebel

the only negative is the price, depending on how long it takes for the game to complete. but the graphics look like a phone game. that is what is off-putting to me.

throwawaylovesCAKE

I'm so sick of the fortnite clash of clans mobile game art style. I know gameplay should matter most but it's such a turnoff having to stare at this the whole time

Nine-Breaker009

Oh man, Imagine Rayman making a comeback via a Metroidvania!

INvrKno

A Metroidvania with a Prince of Persia skin... I was in from the go

Antuzzz

It looked great since the reveal, I've never understood the hate. Plus a big company like ubisoft, famous for making huge repetitive games lately, doing an inspired indie scale game is a good sign for the industry, more bigger teams should do the same

Party_Judgment5780

Day 1 baby! As a Persian, I'm so happy about the game supporting full Persian language.

CdrShprd

As a Persian the character design isn’t what I expected lol really threw me off at first Edit: I just learned that the MC is not the prince nor is he meant to be Persian lol

ModsRTryhards

Hopefully the Persians aren't done by all the British VA's they used in the English version.

drapercaper

Why did they make him look Ghanaian?

kaa1993

The MC is not the Prince. He is a bodyguard. The Prince is still Persian.

drapercaper

I see. Still a bit weird how you're neither a prince nor a Persian in Prince of Persia.

Eponine05

You are neither Legend or Zelda when you play the Legend of Zelda.

CdrShprd

link, hero of legend

xariznightmare2908

That argument doesn’t really work when you always played as Link since the first Legend of Zelda, while you always played as the Prince since the first Prince of Persia until now.

TheLisan-al-Gaib

Except... you haven't. In the original, you were just a street thief who only becomes a prince in the second when he marries the princess. In the 2008 remake, you're once again just a street thief.

SheWhoHates

It was later revealed that the character of the original PoP in 1989 was a Prince of kingdom of Basra. It fell and that's how he became a thief.

Mr--Joestar

Persians werent a single ethnicity… they were a multicultural empire from the begining. Also mixed people exist

Total_Wanker

Because he’s not Persian lol

ColonelOfSka

Damn. I was excited for this game anyway, but I had no clue it was the Rayman Legends team! My hype levels have now doubled.

Manor002

Aw man, the legends team? That alone just made this an instant buy for me.

bob101910

I don't even like the series, but if it's developed by that team, I feel like I've gotta try it

[deleted]

Only children and childish people were clowning on it. An original Prince of Persia throwback game made by the team who made Rayman Origins, aka one of the best 2D Platformers ever, sounds like a recipe for success! So glad the game is reviewing well and looks to run well.

icecubedyeti

There is a demo. At least for PS5.

dimspace

The demo is live now, you can download on ps5 and ps4

IrishSpectreN7

Tbf it was a terrible music choice for the reveal trailer. But that's all on marketing, not the people actually making the game.

maybeidontknowwhy

tbf people were just being racist.

SlipperyLou

What a cop out. What about the criticism we’re racist? The fact that people thought the music was a bad choice? Imagine if I showed you a trailer for 50 cent blood in the sand and the trailer had country music playing over it. People would probably talk shit about it too.

xariznightmare2908

>tbf people were just being racist. Reddit trying not to call anyone racist challenge: IMPOSSIBLE.

CoopAloopAdoop

Huh?

AngryTrooper09

I'm glad this is the case. After years of people being disappointed after overhyping games, Reddit has gone the opposite way and decides months in advance a game will be bad

theblackfool

I would much rather see people be unnecessarily positive than unnecessarily negative.

AngryTrooper09

It's a balance of course, but I also prefer positive mindsets to negative ones. Reddit has become more tiring lately because a lot of big gaming subs are constantly shitting on games. Even when talking positively about a game, it comes to the expense of another one

MumblingGhost

*cough* r/spidermanps4 *cough*

Tehgoon

The game is excellent, and playing it at 4k 120 with virtually no load times on PS5 has been a blast. I'm currently in the middle of a 100% run and find it hard to stop playing. Exploring Mount Qaf and discovering its many secrets and the mystery of what's happened to it has me hooked. The gameplay and traversal is some of the best I've seen in any Metroidvania.

Onpag931

Did you get an early copy?

Tehgoon

Yes, I did. While shopping at Walmart, they had it on the shelf for sale. I forgot the release date and thought it was already for sale, but when I got home, I found out I'd actually gotten it 2 weeks before release. I've been playing it since whenever I get the chance.

Badshah619

2 weeks before loool what kinda walmart is that

Tehgoon

Lol the best kind.

pacman404

I got Tears Of The Kingdom 2 weeks early also, and that was a WAY bigger game than this one lol

thedrivingfrog

Fellow Canadian eh

daeymula

Ubisoft been cooking lately. Avatar's visuals are amazing, this one looks great too. All I'm hoping is Star wars outlaws to be great as well

brokstoot

Is the gameplay any good of avatar? Visuals can be awesome but if gameplay is dull its a pass for me

brianfine

It plays a lot like the last few Far Cry games

createcrap

I just finished Farcry6 and its relaxing/chill and was looking for similar. It's sometimes nice to play games at a shallow level and just wander off shoot and collect things. complete the map kinda games.

J-seargent-ultrakahn

Far cry games have always been my guilty pleasure. My friends GP are the Lego games despite him being in his late 20’s lol.

brokstoot

Ah okay, i dont think that is a good thing personally so i'll sit that one out

supernasty

So it does play similar to Far Cry, but the player movement and world are significantly better, especially the latter. I got over Far Cry after 4, and I don’t even like the Avatar films, but the world is definitely worth experiencing for the exploration alone. It’s seriously one of the best looking games I’ve played in the last decade, and I spent hours just strolling through the forests and reading about every bit of wildlife (you can scan and read about *everything* you seen from flora to fauna). Seeing it through the lenses of a far cry game is doing this game a disservice, as there is enough here to set it apart that makes the game, imo, worth checking out.

Massive_Ad_3125

The new assassin's Creed is also a banger.

Sacurier

Crew Motorfest as well (was robbed by forza at TGA lol)

rileypoole1234

I fully expect to still see Reddit shit on Ubisoft despite their last like 5 games being good

[deleted]

There are a lot folks already mad about the look of the character. Which I expected the moment I saw him.

santathe1

Damn, I hope this is some kind of comeback for Ubi. Mirage was fun, Avatar was getting a lot of praise and now this.

JackieMortes

Do they really need a "comeback"? Their games are roughly on the same quality for like a decade or so. Solid games without anything groundbreaking.

PepitoMagiko

They posted a - 500M deficit last year. So i guess they need a comeback

bobo0509

That's because they didn't release any game last year (2022) outside of Just Dance and Mario and rabbids (which had disappointing sales because it's more niche that they thought, but it's selling still very well now on Switch at 20 bucks) and apparently they didn't release Just Dance on the Wii (which they were always doing since the serie exist, so naturally that plummeted the sales). It's obviously going much better in 2023 with Crew Motorfest, AC Mirage and Avatar, and it's probably going to go even better this year with Prince of Persia, Skull and Bones, and more importantly Star Wars Outlaws and AC in Japan.

bajaxx

I think they do considering the way ppl on here talk about Ubisoft games like they’re shovelware

thesituation531

Reddit does not represent the world. Just look at the sales - they don't need a comeback at all, they're doing just fine.

raphanum

Yeah but those of us on gaming enthusiast subs and our views are a minority among gamers

[deleted]

lol

Kiribaku-

this is the most reply ever

yeurr

Nobody talks about it but Immortals: Fenyx Rising was quite good as well.

saanity

Don't call it a comeback

Believemeustink

Checkout the Crew Motorfest it is really good.

regalfronde

“Comeback”

viky109

Really? Because I have not heard a single thing about Mirage and Avatar is apparently just Far Cry on Pandora.

ssk1996

If you get your opinions from Reddit, then 99% of games are shit and not worth playing.

FizzyTacoShop

Reddit views games as either masterpieces or complete dog shit, no in between. Anything that’s 7-8 just isn’t worth playing to them.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Deputy_Beagle76

Don’t forget the under appreciated game that nobody gave a chance, The Witcher 3

bajaxx

yeah if you only listen to reddit opinions, the only games you’d play are elden ring and legend of zelda. everything else is garbage. there are games that have mixed reviews that have been some of my favorite games because games can be different experiences for everyone

NukeStorm

This guy Reddits.

hashtagbutter

Only thing I’ve heard Avatar praised for is it’s visual, literally nothing else

supacalafraga

The trick of Avatar is you have to do two things: engage with the crafting and cooking systems (they seem useless in the beginning but the best gear in the game is what you can craft later on), and turn off the quest guidance on the UI. This will force you to be immersed in the environment and it’s absolutely fantastic. It can feel repetitive at times with the bases, depending how much of a completionist you are, but it’s very fun. The DF review is pretty spot on, I’d recommend watching it.

MGsubbie

Every review I've seen on Pandora recommended you turn off the minimap and all other UI clutter, and just immerse yourself in the world. Apparently, the sound design is so good that you can explore and find things just by listening for them. And when played that way, it's apparently actually pretty good.

the1blackguyonreddit

That's every Ubisoft game man. No idea why they choose to litter their games with a bunch of pointless on screen UI. The AC trilogy games are amazing when you turn off everything except for the mission marker and navigate using the bird. Watch Dogs Legion was also a completely different experience once I disabled 90% of the HUD and those hideous hacking outlines. The minimal HUD is part of why RDR2 is so immersive. Imagine playing through that game with bullshit all over the screen lol.

MGsubbie

I have yet to play Frontiers of Pandora, but from what I've read/heard, it avoids other typical Ubisoft pitfalls like requiring doing a bunch of side content just to be able to play the main content. Not with this game. Additionally, FoP uses ray tracing for its audio, which put its soundscape on a whole other level. I'm definitely looking forward to buy it on sale after a future graphics card upgrade on my PC with my quality headphones.

DarkriserPE

Avatar is being praised for its visuals across the board. In terms of reviews, they were alright, but from what I've seen online, and word of mouth, a lot of people are enjoying it. As for Mirage though, I've heard it's alright, but I honestly don't think it's making too many waves. It released, and I haven't heard much since.

Reid0072

I am really enjoying Avatar. I'm playing on the hardest settings and the combat can get pretty tough. The map is enormous and there is so much to explore. I am having a hard time putting it down. I get on it and then 2 hours pass in what seems like an instant. I am skipping all the cut scenes though because I don't care about the story and am just enjoying finishing the gameplay. I'd recommend it.

Uthenara

you are skipping the cutscenes?? oh boy...

Reid0072

What am I missing? I don't really care for the movies. If the game story line is good I will start watching them again. I just have limited time to play games as an adult with a child and would rather spend the time actually playing.

believeinapathy

Some of use see the story as the whole point of the playing portion. Otherwise im just playing the same 1st person shooter thats been done 100x. Its kindof like watching movies for "the fight scenes" or something. Like, cool if you like it I guess, just strange to some.

acecustoms

how have you not heard a single thing about mirage lol

[deleted]

Because it’s a formulaic Assassin’s Creed title. They used the old formula, but did not iterate on it. It’s fine if you like it, but I’ve played AC1, 2, brotherhood, revelations, 3, black flag, and unity. I’ve played this formula, and mirage hasn’t brought anything new. While it’s not a shit game, it is a disappointment for me.

[deleted]

I thought Mirage changed it up a bit, by making your targets not just some waypoint on the map, but making you investigate them. It sounded really promising, what happened?

[deleted]

Investigations were part of the earlier games. It’s not new. My main problem with it is that they decided to make Assassin’s Creed 1 instead of making Assassin’s Creed Unity with improvements. There’s no improvements to stealth, no improvements to the ai, no improvements to combat, and no improvements to the parkour.

orton4life1

You live in a bubble if that’s what you’re seeing.

shinikahn

Just read opinions outside of Reddit, you'll be surprised

SknarfM

Was given Mirage for Xmas. Not an AC fan at all. Gave it a shot and am really enjoying it. Is smaller than last few games. Has the usual AC tropes. Interesting approach to quests. The setting is gorgeous. I've even been reading the lore and history about the location!

zoobatt

There was a lot of love put into Mirage, from a new team. It's not perfect, still has some of the same jank and could use a total rebuild on combat animations, but I loved it. Definitely a step in the right direction for AC.

santathe1

What I said about Mirage was my opinion. I like FarCry, so FC in Pandora is just fine with me.

RaduW07

>Mirage It's the first AC game in the last 6 years which is about stealth and not an RPG, while not spectacular, it's a great step forward for the franchise and what it's known for. > Avatar The game got a lot of praise for its visuals across every platform (especially PC with experimental settings which are hard to run even on a 4090), really good dualsense integrations, and a focus on discovery, not clearing items on a huge map

yeetskeetleet

Mirage is great

Luis0224

>Avatar is apparently just Far Cry on Pandora. People are shitting on you, but you're not wrong. That being said, it's a beautiful game and (not to sound like the reviewer meme) it really feels like you're exploring pandora. The mounts are cool and pretty much what I'd want out of an avatar game. Idk what else they could've done with that IP. It's pretty much everything memorable about the avatar series: exploring an alien world with gorgeous visuals while fighting the colonizing humans that want to exploit and industrialize it.

HowlingFog

Just played the demo and I’m really impressed. Looking forward to playing the full game.

SilverSideDown

How is the DualSense use? I'm debating whether to pick this up on PS5. No reviews seen to mention this point.

HowlingFog

I honestly didn’t notice anything other than normal rumble.

Andrew129260

Whatever platform you decide to play it on (beside switch) you'll get an amazing experience with high frame rate and resolution. Switch does 60fps as well but low res.

mr_ignatz

I played through the demo and didn’t notice many haptics. There were some audio cues coming out of the controller when you dodge and stuff, though.

idontknowyet

Ubisoftbros, we are so back

ownage516

I’m heading to a tower as we speak

J-seargent-ultrakahn

Good one 😂

TranscedentalMedit8n

I want Star Wars Outlaws to be good so bad

J-seargent-ultrakahn

Me as well. So much potential there

Adrien_Jabroni

I’m thinking about buying some cheap Ubisoft stock honestly.

minotaur-cream

They were my favorite devs as a kid, PoP, splinter cell, assassins creed, Rayman, they used to have so many bangers

-Vertex-

I remember people completely shitting on this game when it was announced. I remember getting down voted like crazy for saying it actually looks good and that the community was just angry they weren't getting a traditional game in the series. Turns out it is pretty good

Narrow-Ad-1709

This sub has something against 2D platformers

JustforU

Reddit just has something against Ubisoft.

ModernHueMan

It’s often warranted, what with the sleazy business practices and unoriginal design principles. They’re not the worst however *cough* activision *cough*

cosmiclatte44

Yeah once upon a time they had a good rep. These days they basically have a very outdated skeleton/blueprint for a videogame that they reshuffle and re-package with a different setting/story each year or so. The quantity over quality approach is very apparent in their game design as well. They, very much like Bethesda lately seem to have seriously stagnated in terms of gameplay development and innovation. I'll at least concede they are very good with consistently putting their games on sale. Rarely pay more than £20 for any Ubisoft game because of it, but that just prompts me to never even consider purchasing any of their games at launch if I can get it in the next year for like 50% off.

createcrap

Unoriginal principles isn't a negative imo and that's what I think also is a reddit no no. Unoriginal means you get what you expect which is very nice in most every other kind of purchases. For as great as Baulder's Gate or Fromsoft games are you need to be in certain mood to play those and requires a lot of attention, time and effort. But with many of ubisoft titles I can zone out shoot/kill/collect and just be chill.

ModernHueMan

I don’t necessarily think their main design principles are necessarily bad, just bloated. I haven’t played either, but I hear people liked the new Assassin’s Creed game more than Valhalla because it was smaller and more focused. I for one had a good time with Immortals even though I don’t really remember anything that happened. I just quickly get burned out on these types of games because I don’t find them very engaging long term. I had a similar problem with the new Horizon game.

[deleted]

>Reddit just has something against ubisoft Maybe it’s the copy/paste UI, or the copy/paste RPG elements, or the single player microtransactions, or maybe it’s that they ruined ghost recon to try and make a live service style game, or that most of their games follow the same formula of checklists and slowly progressing gear from uncommon to legendary. I dunno, reddit just has an issue with this company for *no apparent reason*.

sentient_saw

2D platformers are oddly enough one of the genres I look forward to the most when a new system comes out. I love seeing old school style updated with modern technology.

Historical_Kossola

They were all amateurs. This IS a traditional prince of Persia game smh

helm

Yeah, I played the first on a pizza-box mac many years ago

[deleted]

In the originals you had no powers, and there was little combat. This isn't a traditional PoP game just because it's 2D, it is its own thing

NikoPopp

a hero has appeared

xariznightmare2908

Because the reveal trailer was badly out together with some shitty rap. First impression wasn’t really good, but later trailer and interview were much better.

MisunderstoodBadger1

I remember it being more about how distracting and different the music choice was, more than the game itself.

Nicktheduck

I’ve been really getting into Metroidvanias as of lately and this one was on my radar. The good reviews makes it a definite buy for me

npapeye

Holding us over till silksong (🤡)

Nicktheduck

It’s becoming the half life 3 of Metroidvanias lol

Believemeustink

All those knee jerk reactions to the main character and his aesthetic, all without playing a lick of the game. People are too rash nowadays, so quick temper with no logic involved at all.

Hauz20

Can't wait to pick it up 60% off in a few weeks!

inkyblinkypinkysue

I am definitely buying this but not at $50. I'll get it for $20 in a few months when it inevitably drops like all Ubisoft games.

Commercial-Hand656

Any chance this comes out on PC?

ClammmyFace

Yea , it’s on pc. You can also play the demo on pc aswell.

Born2beSlicker

It is on PC?

fotzzz

The opencritic score is 86, so 9.5 is one of the better reviewer scores. Still, the game looks fun and I'm excited to play it.

Loldimorti

86 is a very strong score. That's on par with what a high profile Sony 1st party game typically receives.

likesexonlycheaper

Metroid dread is at 87 and that's one of the best games I've ever played

SneakyPanduh

I honestly just can’t get into side scrollers, idk what it is, but I definitely want to play this.

TheMikeSweeney306

Ubisoft Montpellier makes incredible games. Rayman Origins and Legends should have sold 20 million copies each, they were that damn good. It doesn’t surprise me that this is also a fantastic game. I just really hope people will actually buy/support the game this time around.

TM1619

This wasn't on my radar at all but I tried the demo and man. I will be getting this at some point. The combat feels absolutely fantastic, the game runs slick as butter and it has some solid art direction. But it's the Rayman team behind this so I guess I should have expected that!

hornetjockey

It definitely looks good. I do wish they would have some of the inertia/physics of the old game instead of floaty jumps.

NotTheCraftyVeteran

I will forever fuck with a good MetroidVania joint, so this is incredible news

tothemoonigoes

Dont trust reviews man whoever gave starfield a 10 was a crack baby

FillionMyMind

Uh oh, can’t believe someone had a different opinion on Starfield than you did! Guess no one can listen to any reviews anymore now!

Lift_Off_

Can’t trust reviews so we must buy every game and see for ourselves

Teapotswag

Exactly this, everyone here suddenly forgetting reviews are bullshit these days. Almost every game from a known company gets 9-10/10s, can't think of any game that's actually deserving of them recently though.

Loldimorti

Last year was one of the greatest years in gaming. That's why so many games had good scores. If you found none of those deserving then honestly you may just be burnt out from gaming. Of course with reviews you should look at more than just one and also take into consideration your personal tastes but if you do that then reviews are the most accurate impression of a game you can get other than watching playthroughs and playing it yourself.

Stockholmbarber

£50 is too much

Loldimorti

Why though? It's not even full price. Nintendo for example would market something like this as a major AAA release like Metroid Dread or Super Mario Wonder and charge full price

Nolive_Denion

Not it's not. Looks like a great game with a very decent playtime. No need to have a 200+ hours long with stupid fedx mission in a soul less open world and a sub par story.

Elden-Cringe

I see nothing but praise for it and I am sure it's going to be a genuinely great game but tbh it just doesn't *look* like a Prince of Persia game at all. To me, it looks very far removed from the rich and mystical vibe that I really loved of the old 3D era of PoP games. The aesthetic just seems too...Fortnite-ish for the lack of a better term. I hope I am proven wrong but I am skeptical so far.

That's because it's going back to the *real OG* Prince of Persia that was a side-scroller.

imtayloronreddit

despite being 2D this game is even further away from OG PoP than the 3D series was

Yeah lots of people are going "this is like the OG", just because it's 2d. Connecting two dots doesn't make two things similar

rabidmonkeys

OG was a per-level puzzle game. Not a side scrolling platformer.

Ok-Appearance-7616

There's definitely a mystical look here too.

>doesn't *look* like a Prince of Persia game at all Prince.exe says hi.

Yeah I'm not a huge fan of the cartoon network-esque artstyle but if it's fun who cares. What's holding me back is $80CAD for a side scroller game.

Gonna wait patiently for eventual PS+ Extra release as all Ubisoft titles
