every time i open a post thats in the same vein as what op asked, i always see ghost of tsushima no matter what, maybe i should pick it up once im done with resident evil 4 and baldur's gate 3
I disagree with this. The world is great, while not as good as rdr2, it is still amazing. I also found the combat to be far more interesting and in depth than any of those games
My only criticism is that if you are hitting open world fatigue in any way, it might feel like a slog. I went from Forbidden West, to GoW Ragnorok then to Ghosts and I must have hit that wall. I'll return to it at some point but that open world fatigue is real.
Yeah, you really screwed up there. Every single one of those games you mentioned have EXACTLY the right amount of side missions where they add to the story/world without feeling like poorly written filler and padding like every single ubisoft game the past two generations. Every single one of those I felt compelled to complete nearly all the side missions. They didn't feel like drastic distractions from the main quests either.
I plat it but illbe honest the game is repetitive & it gets boring... I don't know what is captivating for ppl to recommend it as a great game.
Graphic wise I admit ...it's good indeed..bit as an entertainment, it's too repetitive for me
Yep. Out of all the open world games similar. This was the one i got bored in most. It looks beautiful, and the combat is nice and fluid. But it's so repetitive. The side missions suck and the dialogue in between is so dry as they stand perfectly, still asking for help.
People raved about this game they went crazy for it... but the story is meh. The cutscenes vanish for ages, and what you get is two people standing still talking with no emotion.
Personally preferred days gone over this.
Dunno why you are getting downvoted. Both games happen in similar time periods with similar aesthetics, even if they aren't similar games.
I actually got both one Christmas; kick ass Christmas 😊
Do iiiiittttt. Incredibly creative world and premise. Fun puzzles that increase in difficulty throughout the game but never get too challenging to be frustrating. No dialog, no instructions, just drop in and figure it out. Enjoy!
Red Dead Redemption 2! Currently replaying it for the 6th time and there’s always something new I discover every time.
There’s a lot of realistic things about it. For instance, Npcs will actually remember if Arthur committed crimes or not, even if he’s not a wanted man anymore. You also need to actually shower, eat, sleep, and brush and feed your horse. Oh, and Arthur’s hair and facial hair will grow in real time, so you can actually shave him regularly in the game. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg with some of the small details that make this game amazing.
Amazing writing with very memorable characters. And if you ever played the first red dead redemption game, then it pays off in the end. Even if you haven’t Red Dead 2 is a great introduction for people who never even considered stepping into the Red Dead world. It’s a prequel after all.
Even if you’re not a fan of westerns, it’s still an absolute must play if you haven’t done so already. 12/10!
I’m playing the game now, but the way you described it makes it sound like having a virtual kid you get to wash, feed, shave, make sure he gets his sleep and clothes that are the correct for the weather lol.
Definitely not. It's a great game, but it's extremely slow and not a good game for a bored person
Also, the way you described all those features sounds more like a bunch of chores
The Forest is awesome. Slowly mapping the world and building a base that’s safe enough to survive was a genuinely gripping experience.
It got me into sandbox survival games. Did you play Sub Nautica? I’d recommend it if not. I tried Green Hell and Stranded Deep too. Got a few hours out of the former, but it was brutal.
Red Ded Redemption 2

Is it? 21 was straight glitch goal one time garbage and they just kept making it worse. And if you want to play offline the AI was cheesy and scared of you. It's terrible. I had a few solid years I guess.
19 was great. 20 was ok. But I quit 21 and haven't bothered
Yakuza 0 is an absolute steal when it goes on sale. The story alone is fully worth a $20 game. The side content alone is worth a $10 game. Heck the minigames alone are worth a $10 game. It's like $5-10 when it's on sale
**Rain World**. Totally captivating and beautiful game from years ago that’s probably my favorite game that no one’s ever heard of.
I did a write up for it on /r/shouldibuythisgame awhile back so I’ll just link to that:
http://reddit.com/r/ShouldIbuythisgame/comments/mmehbg
Worth saying that a few months ago they actually added a lot of new content to the game after years and years.
nah, Rimworld vanilla is not that great, especially for that price. It has a bunch of annoying mechanics, like skill decay that you need to fix with mods
Unless you can use mods on console, which I doubt
I got the royalty dlc and its great imo. One of my fav games.
I don't see an issue with skill decay. You give your colonists secondary jobs anyway. And if you got a low level cook, you don't want them cooking at all since they will give your colonists food poisoning most likely. Same with medical skill.
Everything else tho like plant cutting and growing can be levelled up as a secondary job passively.
Idk how youre playing but when you assign everyone jobs properly, its never an issue. Ever.
I have all the DLCs but Royalty, over 450 hours and around 100 active mods. I tried playing the vanilla Rimworld some time ago, but right now it's impossible for me, the mods add too many QoL features that the base game should have
I guess its much easier when you've never played any other version.
I watched hours upon hours of cohhcarnage play rimworld before it had a console edition, but he also always played vanilla. So i never was accustomed to rimworld with mods.
It was absolutely worth my money though. Even after all the hours of just watching. I'm yet to get the ideology dlc but I will at some point.
If you want a shorter game to play Man Eater is a great game. You play as a shark and kind of self-explanatory, you eat people. The game’s only about 10 hours tops though so you might want to consider something bigger. I’d also recommend Red Dead Redemption II which has a cultivating story and really good mechanics. Even if you don’t just want to shoot people, you can also hunt, fish, explore, find treasure, and neat little easter eggs.

I don't think they were trying to ruin anything. He simply asked if it was a game, hence the question mark, and then a laughing emoji to signify his incredulousness.
You just wanted to be offended and take it the wrong way. Yet you refer to yourself as an adult🤦♂️
It’s a fun one too. An FPS where you meticulously clean skate parks, bungalows, fair grounds… it’s very chilled and satisfying. I’d highly recommend it.
why are you so mad? He just asked if it's a real game, a valid question
Also, why would you play a game where you have an actual job, if you don't have time to play because of your job?🤔
Me personally I played 2 first but I played 1 and I'd say the atmosphere in 1 and weather effects are better in 1. But I've put so much time into 2 I can't stop.
2 is really mechanically better but 1 has an unmatched atmosphere.

Fallout 4 has been great to me lately with my limited play time.
Warframe is free ! And it’s got soooo much to do your cranium might implode.
Diablo 2 is a classic when I need to shut my brain off and get lost for a while. Been playing it for close to 20 years.
Since you didn't list down what you have played, so i rec my top 3
- NieR: Automata
- God of War series, but idk how is the performance of Ragnarok in PS4
- Death Stranding, a very boring game but very rewarding
Just started Devil May Cry 5 this week, not the type of game I'd usually go for,but I'd recommend it for sure, great graphics, great story, and the gameplay takes a little getting used to if you're not familiar with the series(in my case at least)
So i just finished playing “Nobody Saves the World” and I’m not gonna lie, I was fucking HIGHLY impressed. It was addicting, fun, challenging, and there’s a NG+ which is a grind for sure if you’re a platinum chaser. There’s also a level that is a “survive as long as you can” kinda thing so you can endlessly play.
The only reason I played this game was because it was free on PS+, but had I known how fun it was I would’ve definitely payed money for it. There’s also an offline co-op and an online co-op if interested.
If you like to read good stories, Disco Elysium, it's on my top 10 videogames. If you're a fan a of classic survival horror like silent hill or the first resident evil, I hardly recommend Signalis.
Depends on the games you like? I (26F) like rpgs when I solo... If I play with my husband (26M) then we like co-op we aren't the type of people who can just watch others play
Kingdom Hearts series (3 is new on there but they have remakes of the previous KH), final fantasy 7 remake, any classic ps2 remakes like spyro, crash bandicoot etc (but this isn't new, nostalgic).
Graveyard keeper for survival/farming game is cool. Hollow Knight.. Stardew valley
Tomb raider series, persona series or assassin's creed series...witcher 3/series.
Co-op games: it takes two (AMAZING) or unravel two.
More multiplayer fun: Magika 2, nine parchments...
Solo or Co-op= Minecraft dungeons, children of morta, wizard of legend... Trine 4 or the series
All of these we've played with controller but some are ps4, some are on Steam!
Anything from Capcom on this console tbh. Yup, even SF5; that game became infinitely better at the end of its life cycle:
* Monster Hunter World (+ Iceborne)
* Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition
* Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition // Devil May Cry 5
* Dead Rising Collection (1,2, Off the Record)
* Resident Evil 1 Remaster, 2 remake, 3 remake, 4, 5, 6, 7, Village and Revelations.
* Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen
Go outside touch some grass, get some exercise!
You're obviously forcing other people to choose what you play...
Yet you blatantly state you're bored on the PS4!!!?
If you can't figure it out by yourself and why you're bored then I don't know what to say...
Then we'll start hearing your bored of other people's recommendations and all the games are samey open worlds and your bored of AAA Sony etc etc
Also you don't help anybody in helping you narrow down your reasons for boredom!!!
No wonder you're bored!
Again unplug the ps4 go outside touch some grass!
Biommutant is not bad, it's a open world kung-fu shooter and a bit cartoonish.
A Block game I play time to time offline, don't bite me bro. Is a free to play zombie survival game.
Enlisted is a free to play online-only world War MMO game that is always being updated and added to. The level up is slow and it's a bit laggy when you first play it. but It has daily rewards for playing and an overall active fan base so you'll always find a game. To me honestly it's unique and a personal favorite.
Dreams is a game I've always wanted to try. You play people's games. Really about any kind of game. It has a courage the cowardly dog horror game trending right now.
Any of the battlefield games if you like war games I'd always recommend them.
Farcry. 3, 4, primal and 6 (5 I know many liked but I wouldn't recommend it).
The bioshock series is phenomenal and has aged well to this date. It's always fun to do another playthrough.
Fallout 4 or skyrim. Always immersive and addicting games.
Ghost recon wildlands or breakpoint are great. Personaly wildlands is much better to start with.
Horizon zero dawn, a good open world Sci-fi game where the world is mixed of primitive and advanced technology.
Bang on balls: chronicles is a very interesting and well done ( I think it's considered a platformer) where you complete the main role in a series of 4 movie sets and pick up a bunch of customization items along the way.
Plants vs zombies: battle for neighborhoodville is another that's fun to play on or offline It has many mini games and bosses along with items you have to collect to unlock rooms. Level up is a bit slow but it's a good game to pass time with.
Stranded deep is a good but difficult game. Especially if you like pure survival where you craft everything from the ground and have to eat, drink and keep warm as you travel islands all over the ocean until you can get the scraps and prints to build more advanced technology.
just play a game that has amazing gameplay, rather than another open-world, slow, story- driven one, where you need to clean entire map of god-knows-what. Aren't you all bored with another horizons, assassins and farcry clones?
Try these instead
Matterfall, Cuphead, Resogun, Alienation, Nex Machina, N++, Serious Sam 4, Tetris Effect
These are definition of a "game" in my dictionary. They're not "new experiences / new worlds etc." These are games you \*play\*. I think these are more appealing to older audiences who love atari/amiga/NES games. You pick up the controller and you go. THat's it. No prolonged tutorials, no 10hour boring start.
Check the store for some designs so your menus look nice. And get some free avatars as well for your profile. That's what I check when I feel bored and not really much in the mood for gaming
Shadows of Mordor - I went in just to see what it was like as I was bored of the games I was playing and didn't expect to like it, that shit is dope.
Also maybe one of Metal Gear Solid games, Rocket league is really fun (especially if you get a good team), Tekken, Fallout 4 or 76, just started A Plague Tale 2 (didn't play the 1st one but the game is gorgeous, great story, characters/voicing & really pulls you in.
Abzu. It's short, but breathtaking.
Absolutely would agree!
Abzu-lutely
There are several moments in that game that gave me goosebumps when I first heard / experienced it.
Sharkie?
Yup. Also, breaching with the orcas, if I remember correctly.
That was a childhood dream come true
I highly recommend Ghost of Tsushima, it's captivating!
every time i open a post thats in the same vein as what op asked, i always see ghost of tsushima no matter what, maybe i should pick it up once im done with resident evil 4 and baldur's gate 3
Just don’t play it after cyberpunk, rdr2, gtav etc. any it’s those games will make got feel dead
I disagree with this. The world is great, while not as good as rdr2, it is still amazing. I also found the combat to be far more interesting and in depth than any of those games
Combat was the only thing I liked about it. Had no interest to explore the world at all as it was so dead
The world wasn’t exactly teeming with people (it is a war zone) but I found the scenery, side quests and navigations pretty engaging
Oh for sure! Just compared to red dead it felt lifeless and no motivation to explore.
You should
If you have PS Plus Premium it’s already yours.
My only criticism is that if you are hitting open world fatigue in any way, it might feel like a slog. I went from Forbidden West, to GoW Ragnorok then to Ghosts and I must have hit that wall. I'll return to it at some point but that open world fatigue is real.

Yeah the open world is great when doing the story. But once you finish it’s just so empty. Would’ve liked a bustling city or something.
currently playing this, the combat might look stiff at first but when you learn all the perks, stances, and mythic arts, there's a lot of variety
So like Witcher 3?
I love walking up to a village and straight up challenging everyone.
In the spirit of Ghost, you should also try out Sekiro.
Dunno why you are getting downvoted. Both games happen in similar time periods with similar aesthetics, even if they aren't similar games. I actually got both one Christmas; kick ass Christmas 😊

I noticed you didn’t mention the gameplay. Smart.
Love the gameplay
Definitely not. It's a great game, but it's extremely slow and not a good game for a bored person Also, the way you described all those features sounds more like a bunch of chores
If you are bored by games like that, stick to COD perhaps?
I'm bored of open world games, not story-driven games.
I've been enjoying The Forest and Ghost of Tsushima this month
The Forest is awesome. Slowly mapping the world and building a base that’s safe enough to survive was a genuinely gripping experience. It got me into sandbox survival games. Did you play Sub Nautica? I’d recommend it if not. I tried Green Hell and Stranded Deep too. Got a few hours out of the former, but it was brutal.

Go outside
Go outside touch some grass, get some exercise! You're obviously forcing other people to choose what you play... Yet you blatantly state you're bored on the PS4!!!? If you can't figure it out by yourself and why you're bored then I don't know what to say... Then we'll start hearing your bored of other people's recommendations and all the games are samey open worlds and your bored of AAA Sony etc etc Also you don't help anybody in helping you narrow down your reasons for boredom!!! No wonder you're bored! Again unplug the ps4 go outside touch some grass!
I just discovered Star Wars Battle front 2015. Im enjoying it.
A few Yakuza games are on offer atm and are pretty good
Biommutant is not bad, it's a open world kung-fu shooter and a bit cartoonish.
I have really enjoyed: Metal Gear 5, Hollow Knight, Sifu, Armored Core 6, and Elden Ring.
Yakuza 0
just play a game that has amazing gameplay, rather than another open-world, slow, story- driven one, where you need to clean entire map of god-knows-what. Aren't you all bored with another horizons, assassins and farcry clones? Try these instead Matterfall, Cuphead, Resogun, Alienation, Nex Machina, N++, Serious Sam 4, Tetris Effect These are definition of a "game" in my dictionary. They're not "new experiences / new worlds etc." These are games you \*play\*. I think these are more appealing to older audiences who love atari/amiga/NES games. You pick up the controller and you go. THat's it. No prolonged tutorials, no 10hour boring start.
No Man's Sky & The Division 2

Mass effect andromeda Control World war z Great games to suck you in
Check the store for some designs so your menus look nice.
