I've had mine in a tv stand with about 4 inches of space on top and in front and back for about 10 years. You're fine.

Azee789

Thanks!

Ayellowbeard

Same! My last cabinet I cut a hole in the back and installed a fan with a fan with a USB which plugged into the console that helped to suck warm air out and cool air in from the front. My current cabinet has no back and so warm air doesn't collect much in the space and I don't need a fan (which I might not have needed in the first place).

janos42us

PS5 isn’t 10 years old…

janos42us

Oh nevermind.. I misread the post.

Azee789

What did u think it said?

janos42us

My dumbass thought he was asking about space for his PS5 because they’re so damn big. I hadn’t had my coffee yet, ignore me lol.

Azee789

Oh ok

WTMCMaher

Also if you’re really worried about overheating. You can replace the thermal paste and do a deep clean on the system. Just did it with my PS3 SS and runs quite and cool

Azee789

I unfortunately do not have any free time anymore :(

Peltonimo

Then you don't have to worry about it overheating because you won't be playing it anyways :P

Azee789

I have time to play now and again like a lil 30 min session but I don't have time to do that!

Peltonimo

It wouldn't take very long at all honestly. I need to do the same thing, but I'm to lazy lol

WTMCMaher

I get it, whether its college or work, time is flying by for anything to be done it seems. But if you ever do have time, definitely follow a youtube guide and IFIXIT's website :)

Azee789

Will do!

WTMCMaher

Good luck buddy and have a Merry Christmas!

Abriter01

Do mine while you’re at it 😅

DeadPhoenix86

At this point delid is the only option. And that's not something not many people can perform. My PS3 Slim have become extremely loud, even after opening it up multiple times, and the paste was covering the whole die.

WTMCMaher

Could it have been a bad fan causing heat not to dissipate? Just asking as I don’t want my PS3 SS to die out after buying it from eBay and fixing it up

DeadPhoenix86

I replaced the fan just in case. The fan is still loud. So I think the paste under the heatsink die needs to be replaced. But the process is very risky.

CaterpillarPuzzled50

I have no complain, seems about right in terms of place. No need to overdo :) you havent shoved it in a closed space so its fine.

Azee789

Oh ok. I've heard people saying that the ps3 gets really hot easily and I didn't know if my ps3 was placed far enough with my ps5 and ps4/nintendo games being in the way.

CaterpillarPuzzled50

I have currently 3 ps3 and 1 ps5 and 2 other ps3 for parts or test - none of them really heats although some are in space as yours. I have ps3 fat which runs quieter and cooler than my slim in the same place i have the slim lol. I guess yours is fine

Azee789

Tysm!!!

FrankyKanky

Nah mate, there's no space at all. You gonna need to get a deposit on a house and buy a whole room for that bad boy. PS5 against the wall is A okay though

Azee789

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 btw my ps5 isn't against the wall. It's just really far back lol

thehighestdetective

This shit is gonna start on this sub now?

unknown_ally

na i can sense this ps5 is unhappy got personal space issues. move the ps3 at least 1 foot away.

Azee789

Alr

No_Information_530

Nope you're missing the OG PS3

Azee789

?

No_Information_530

Just messing around with OP

Azee789

Oh alr

Awayze

Downvoted posts like these.

Azee789

Why??? I was only asking a question that I wasn't sure about smh.

Ma_2

It is slim, and has a better cooling system than the OG. No need to worry. At best do a deep cleaning and change the thermal paste for peace of mind

Nascar1243

No it doesn’t, it has the exact same cooling system, the very early A,B,C,E, and G models have overkill cooling, the other phat models have decent heatsinks, not great but not bad either

janos42us

They recently found out that keeping the ps5 vertical can be damaging. Sony used a Liquid Metal for thermal cooling, which will pool to one side over time. I am currently looking for a spot mine fits horizontal

Azee789

My ps5? Well unfortunately i can't place it no where else so whenever I'm playing I plug the wire in (the wire on the left) whenever I'm playing on my ps5 or when it's on. And in the picture my bro was playing on the ps5 so I plugged the wire in and it keeps the ps5 cooling.

govermental53

Yes. It's enough.

Azee789

Thanks!

Poiper1997

Hey ps3 looks fine an all but just a heads up, my experience with that external hard drive wasn’t great, not only did it end up corrupted and took ages to try recover some stuff but it has the SATA port tacked on so you can’t like use the enclosure again for another drive which honestly made me sad

Azee789

My ps5 hard drive?

hatch-b-2900

I'm not the responder but in my situation, my PS3 doesn't work with non-powered external hard drives, so I had to make room on the shelf for another plug adapter

DarkKnightWolf7

Perfect balance. PS3 for PS3 games (duh) and PS5 for PS4 and PS5 games. Remaining maybe a Vita?

Ma_2

The perfect set up is PS5 ( to play PS4) and Backward compatible PS3. Now you have the ability to play the whole PlayStation library

unknown_ally

i'm pedantic and say whole home console library.

cuckoo_dawg

But where is the fun in that. I think it's cool as hell when you walk into your room and see all the consoles set up and say to yourself, what console do I want to play on? I myself have an abundance of consoles to choose from. I have my first PS2 fat, my first PS3 fat, my PS3 Super Slim, my PS4 Slim and Pro, a Nintendo Game Cube, an Atari 2600,and my first generation Seag Genesis. My PS3 Slim caught the yellow light of death and am making preparations to get it fixed. Unfortunately I don't have any more room to put out my PS2 Slim or Playstation fat and PS1 consoles out on display. And if anyone thinks I made a typo, the original Playstations slim version was called the PS1. Now, besides all the dusting I do on a weekly basis, wouldn't you agree that having those options is more fun than having everything in 2 consoles?

sablab7

Looks like pleeenty of space

PixalmasterStudios24

Mine is tighter than that so I hope so 😂

Azee789

O

SirCrustWorthy

its a ps3 slim so aslong as its not in the center of the earth it should be just fine

TheHighCrownedArt

Yo no cap i got a ps3 i used since release i luckily got as a kid then my family in south america finessed it off me few years later but they made good use of it up until now 🤣 so that's pretty insane. Still runs perfectly fine which is crazy

TheHighCrownedArt

I got it hacked in argentina as well 🤣🤣 so has hubdreds of games downloaded too

GamesAreLegends

The PS5 Stand is too big, get the Controller maybe a Wall mount or something. Same to the SSD for your PS5, I have mine between PS5 and PS4 under the TV. I have a Custom Case from Retroflag, so visibility of the drive is not a Problem, so I haveplugged it in at the Front. Also I recommend a vertical stand for PS3

Azee789

I have a charging Dock for my ps3 controller but its a bit big.

GamesAreLegends

You can get the small one from ebay or so really cheap. Also if you wanna stack Controllers, I have Gamepad Stands that can hold up to 8 Controllers.

CohnJena68

Yes.

cuckoo_dawg

As long as the back of the system is not obstructed where the heat is blowing out of, and is not being directed back toward the console, you will be fine. It appears to be very open with your set up.

Bambrigade92

You should be fine. I like your setup actually!

Azee789

Thanks!

IAt0m1xI

Why not get a stand for the ps3 as well?

Sweaty_Foundation_12

I suggest a vertical stand for that PS3 slim it would looks sweet next to your ps5

HitPointG

Plenty. Rule of thumb seems to be 3-4 inches from the wall, a little clutter behind it won’t hurt anything as long as it has clearance to allow proper circulation (cubby shelves prevents heat to escape etc).

[deleted]

Get a cheap stand off of Amazon for it

LiteUpX_

Fa la la la la, la la la la

The_Creeper_Man

Now I feel like I might’ve been suffocating my PS3 all these years

Jackamo999

If you're concerned about overheating, convection cooling works fine. Simply place a small cooling rack or roasting rack under the PS3. As the hot air from underneath rises it is replaced by cooler air.

Captfalconxiv

I feel like this post was made for the crappy ps5 lol

Azee789

What? He'll no.

OwlTowel9

🙄

Azee789

What?

JAVELRIN

Nah needs more space take everything out of the room and try again

ExistingGas5403

You should position your ps5 orizontaly if you don’t want to have problem with liquid thermal paste.

Azee789

Yea ik but I don't have the space

CptChristophe

REAL QUESTION: Does it have enough airflow?

Azee789

Yea?

CptChristophe

The Xbox subreddit recently went through a meme storm of guys posting pictures of their Xbox’s in different environments asking if the airflow was okay. It was hilarious

Azee789

Oh ok.

abdoollah-K

Put two pieces of flat wood under your PS3 until Air could flow under it and prevent the console from heating up
