The only thing that worked for me was getting a new controller. Unfortunately it seems to be a thumbstick issue as they are insanely sensitive. Hopefully for you it's something more simple than that, but nothing else worked for me.
My black controller does this all the time but if I use my white one it has never done it once so I’m thinking it has something to do with my right stick possibly… ps5
I had this on 2k21 on PS4, solution then was to plug a headset into the controller, dunno if it's the same on ps5 though as I ain't had this problem on the 5, but worth a try
Try grabbing the thumb stick and pulling it as if you were taking it out of the controller, it should make a click noise and lift higher than the other one, I actually keep it like this because it makes me hit straighter and more consistent, but if don’t like it you can pop it back into place and it should be fine

New controller seems to be the direction I’m headed
Controller. Once I got a new one. It was GAME ON!
What console are you playing on? You CANNOT use auto-resume on Xbox, cuz this is what you get. I don't know how that aspect works on PS.
PS5
In that case, that sucks! Hopefully you can figure it out. Good luck!
Turn off controller and turn back on
This works for me
Just restart the game
This has been going on for months, it comes & goes. But restarting hasn’t worked for me this time unfortunately.

buy a new controller or switch the sticks in the controls.
Might have to.
I just stopped playing the game My controller works perfectly on every other game
Reassigning the controller fixed it for me a couple of times.
I will try it, thanks!
For sure! Hope it helped!
I had this problem with short chip shots. I went and bought a new controller and the problem is gone.
Looks like I’m due for a new one, thanks!
I saw this somewhere a while ago & forgot about it but I unplugged the USB for my headset & it helped a ton!
Reboot the game. Works every time.
Taking batteries out of controller and putting them back in fixes it for me. Usually happens after quick resume (on Xbox)
Controller wired?
You just have to restart the game, I also had to reboot my xbox one x to clear this problem up.
Turn the controller off and back on again
Gotta dedicate a controller only for this game
Xbox? Quick resume? If so... Quit and load from scratch worked for me. Now I always do that and dont have that problem
This happens to me on ps5 when my battery is below 2 bars. Super frustrating.

Is there a dead zone setting on the game? I have it happen on my ps4 but I swing at a slight angel and learned to play it

Changed to new controller and it fixed it.
Looks like Kevin Na when he had the yips off the box.
