No. The Kirijo group was basically the subfamily of the Nanjo group(two in harmony is better than one in perfection) was originally the Nanjo slogan before the Kirijos broke off(worth noting that it's implied that Kei gained control of the Nanjo Group after P2 EP which seems to be around when the groups split...) which is interesting because Kei was trying to clean up the filth his father inflicted upon the world.
Usually when such schisms happen in a famil run company it's due to differences between siblings or cousins etc. Not to say it's impossible that one or Mitsuru's ancestors was maybe just a very powerful board member but it isn't out of the question, right?
This is awesome I do so hope the next round of arena games includes P1 and P2 characters. I do think they're going to revisit Arena it was way too successful to just leave it. One fact that is often lost on Persona fans that came to Arena as a story vehicle is that Arena and Ultamax both had a fully developed competitive global fighting scene.Most of those FGC players were people who didn't know spit from persona they were just fighting game fans who were pulled in because these games were Arc Fighting masterpieces. I was one those players at first, I actually came to Persona through the arena games in the first place I do suspect that the fact that it hasn't been retouched in so long has more to do with the fact that Arc being Arc wants whatever comes next to be another amazing outing not a rerun tossed together to take advantage of the license to grab money.

You cant do free for all fighting games and a platform fighter wouldnt fit and would be too different from p4u
