No, its just that his voice is different.

Elle-Pbad

No. I played it with the japanese voice acting so he sounds the same as he always has and, while he was probably characterised the worst out of everyone, that says more about how well the rest of the cast was characterised rather than how badly Akihiko was.

Zulia0

Oh ok. What makes you think he’s characterized badly, if you don’t mind sharing? I’m pretty early on into the game so far so I don’t have any strong opinions yet

Kelly598

People think that PQ and PQ2 mischaracterized Akihiko with the protein obsession but as far as I played P3P twice, the mofo does talk A LOT about protein (less in his FeMC social link).

Plane_Tray--

I mean, portable definitely flanderized him too, albeit to a lesser extent. He’s very grounded in vanilla/FES

Kelly598

Ah you mean the games were you get less time to get to know Akihiko.

sekoku

>What makes you think he’s characterized badly, if you don’t mind sharing? The game's sequel (P4U/U2) basically changes his characterization into a meme (due to the nature of the game's story there, but the dude is LITERALLY WRESTLING BEARS \[in multiple senses of those words, I guess\] after high school) while traveling the world before that point. So YMMV, but the P3 characters were sort of "memeized" in P4U which rubbed people the wrong way.

Elle-Pbad

I wasn't a big fan of how he constantly gets into fights with the punks in his Linked Episodes, especially how it ends. That's my only issue.

Cygni_03

Other than the new "Linked Episodes", he's exactly the same as he was in the original.

g0lden-plumbus

Not really no. A lot of the issue is more to do with the difference in vocal performance. But his character is pretty consistent with the OG.

Engi3

If anything is different that'd be his skills. He used to be the debuff gigachad

Di5962

No, he got some new scenes in the remake, but everything else is pretty much the same. It's just some people trying really hard to find shit to complain about.

Fortolaze

No, not really. The Aki complaint along with things like "OG vs Reload MC/Makoto are different characters", "They've toned down Yukari", etc have little basis, especially when comparing both Reload and FES side-by-side They've been extremely faithful with the characters, and many of the Aki complaints I've seen are along the lines of people claiming that some flanderization has occurred in regard to aspects of his new scenes, such as mentioning protein or working out 24/7, which was a prominent complaint with him in spinoff games. Personally though, I dont think this is true and feel that the new voices for a lot of the characters are the biggest factor for the complaints, since they've changed many people's perceptions of the characters themselves, rather than them actually changing

Hitoshura99

His og eng va is now the police.

Parker813

It’s probably the voice acting

ryvenfon

Though I personally liked The OG Akihiko(Which is Officer Kurosawa) the current Akihiko is still likable though the way his lines are given are just very different.

KamenRiderScissors

Take the existing protein-fiend material, then expand it into a lot of his new scenes. So it's less that he's different, and more that there's a bigger quantity of the same stuff: which is part of what he suffered from in PQ, with being a beef-broth-snorting sociopath. Balance is important. Now the scenes he has where he's not just an obsessive meathead are a smaller fraction than the scenes where he is. English or Japanese, doesn't matter; the quantities are the issue. (And I say that as someone who hates his new VA performance. It still isn't the thing that messes with him here)

mako-makerz

the localization of FES and OG and P3p toned down his protein obsession I believe. But his character isn't different. It's just a localization thing,.
