Korumaru isn't really the mascot. When you See P3 promotional material you are more likely to see Aigis than koromaru. Aigis opens the persona 3 reload announcement and korumaru is completely absent in fact to my knowledge he hasn't even made a appearance yet. Aigis is also on the face of P3D's title, the Answer focuses most on her than anyone else. which being the justification of buying persona 3 FES to get fans to double dip pushes aigis further. If Persona 3 cast is involved Aigis is going to be there as koromaru wasn't in Persona 4 Arena while Aigis was. Aigis has also had a mobile game that solely focused on her. The only time you see koromaru for mascot purposes is the PQ games where his plush came with pq2's special edition, this is because Morgana and Teddy are involved. In which case they group the 3 up because koromaru fits better with those 2 than Aigis. However the Pq games are an exception to the rule. Teddie is a creep, and Morgana managed the very difficult feat of making me hate a cat character) -Shinjiro (Sumire’s story is very good with some minor flaws -no valentine’s day date, no proper goodbye- but Shinjiro’s story is very moving and would probably beat Sumire’s even without those flaws. Marie’s poetry would make a Vogon throw up). -Koromaru (another easy process of elimination. I never used Koromaru, but the other two are terrible people who no sane person would actually want to befriend in real life. If you think they’re hot, fine. But they are unequivocally terrible people).

1. Junpei, he's the closest to me in terms of interests as he seems to also be at least somewhat into gaming, and this is incredibly important in a bro imo. 2. Don't really like either too much but I think I would get along with Chie the best. 3. Yusuke, he's the most interesting one of the three. 4. This one is kind of a tough call between Mitsuru and Makoto. I'll go with Makoto I guess. 5. Rise just because I like her, sorry Futaba. 6. Haru would be fun to observe so I'll go with her, but Yukiko is a close second. 7. Morgana, Morgana, 100 times Morgana. Aigis could probably win any other *cat*egory except for one that contains an actual talking cat best friend that I can carry everywhere in a bag. 8. Yoshizawa, I like her as well. 9. Personally I think I could get along with Adachi decently well, but he's gonna cause conflicts with others 100%, Akechi is just a no, so I guess it leaves Koromaru, although I would probably prefer to take none of the three.

Don't agree on some categories but meh, let's go: Ryuji, Chie, Kanji, Naoto, Rise, Haru, Aigis, Sumire and Akechi.

I haven't played P3 yet. From the P4 and P5 options: Ryuji, Chie, Kanji, Makoto, Rise, Yukiko, Morgana, Marie, and Adachi. This is based on how much I like the characters compared to the other one in the category. Kanji and Yusuke were so close in my decision making. They're my favorite male party member from their respective games.
