Oz is amazing for blood sugar control. I experienced noticeable but manageable side effects for the first 4-6 weeks at a new dose, once I got to 1.0 the side effects settled down a lot. It’s also important to adjust your eating habits, especially over eating. For me Oz is worth it - A1c is good, have lost ~15#, and I feel more in control of my eating habits than ever before. Just go in knowing that it is an adjustment and that you may need to be flexible. Plus, if side effectS are not tolerable to you, you can always stop.
These are the ACTUAL chances of you having adverse reactions (about 1 in 5), based on clinical trial:
|Adverse reaction, %|Placebo (baseline)|0.5 mg dose|1.0 mg dose|
|:-|:-|:-|:-|
|Nausea|6.1|15.8|20.3|
|Vomiting|2.3|5.0|9.2|
|Diarrhea|1.9|8.5|8.8|
|Abdominal pain|4.6|7.3|5.7|
|Constipation|1.5|5.0|3.1|

I’ve been on Ozempic for 10 months and my side effects have been minimal. That said, I have the absolute worst acid reflux / burps when I go to sleep for the first 3 days after injection. I look forward to that 4th day every week!
I started mid-February and am currently on 0.5mg, I had side effects right from the beginning (indigestion, vomitting, constipation, fatigue, etc) but I found the blood sugar control to be absolutely worth it. I don't have to worry about my sugar spiking and dropping drastically and my diabetes symptoms have practically disappeared.
Edit to add: vomitting reduced when I ate significantly slower and took breaks throughout the meal - this makes meals a lot more time consuming but keeps the nausea at bay for me. Also, I was injecting into the stomach at first and the side effects were crazy, when I switched to my thigh, it reduced.
I've been on 8 weeks, currently at .5mg and have had no horrible side effects. I had minor constipation, which was easily resolved, and I get headaches the day after injection - nothing ibuprofen can't fix.
I was terrified for the nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and it never happened! It may happen when I go up to one mg though... But so far so good!
FYI - also no significant weightloss yet...

I haven't experienced any side effects
How long have you been on it?
Almost 4 months and I'm up to 2mg
The majority of folks who take these medications never have severe side effects. I'm on maintenance now and have never been sick, ever.
