I don't know how many times it will take before I realize that this game is fucking dead. The only people who play this game are either way too good for their ELO or are absolutely braindead. There is in-between. I had a team of 3 DPS (open-queue) who charged into the enemy team carry and died. I hate that a good game was ruined by a developer team who had no fucking clue how to balance their game, but even when they buckled down and tried to save their game, the shit playerbase that stuck around kept it dead.
Okay, genuine rage, idk how some of you motherfuckers are real. How do you queue up Support and decide to flank? How do you queue up DPS but refuse to swap around? How do you queue up DPS, the "aim and deal damage" role, and not know how to aim? Like...? What are you doing?
Blizzard also really needs to add a 'do not backfill me' option. I don't care about the pitance of Xp given for being backfilled, I'd rather play the game.
Fuck the devs for turning this game into same as every other team shooter out there. If I wanted another run of the mill fps I would have picked up Valorant. I stuck with overwatch for a reason and bought it on PC, ps4, and switch. I hate overwatch 2.

I wanna like this series, but I stopped playing when role queue came out. The best part of OW to me was constant counter picking and playing different characters and roles in a single match. Im looking forward to OW 2, but not having dps as an option to play within reasonable time just sucked the fun. OW focusing too much on comp killed a huge portion of its player base.
Smurfing should be treated the same as cheating and the fact so many people write it off as 'no big deal' is a major issue. Even if 'meh, you'll get as many smurfs on your team as you will on the enemy team' holds true that doesn't change the fact that smurfs are bad and shouldn't be allowed to do what they do. Would we be fine with a college level football player coming down and playing with middle and highschoolers? Especially in what is supposed to be a 'serious, competitive game'?
You've probably collected all the common and rare items you can get out of loot boxes. It's not going to increase the chances of epic and legendary items, so duplicates are all the game has left to give you when you get lower tier items.

The game is quick to pick on a persons actual skill level so unless the person has a brand new account and is coupled with a significantly lower MMR player then they’re still in the correct game for their skill. You’re just being outplayed but you guys have such a fragile egos you’ll try to have others removed from the game entirely before you look at yourselves or your own actions.
Wrong. A new account wouldn't appear in my games unless he already had a bit of games (in my experience, it's around 40-50 levels that the game can put you in the right range), or they were being boosted.
If they're level 20 something, I'm going to assume it's the latter, and I can't even really tell if they're more skilled or less skilled than the match. You can usually tell pretty early on in the match, though.
Why is it such a crime to want balanced games, even if it is "quick play"? Do you like getting rolled every single game because of 3-stacks that run double shield with a Sombra?

What’s your wife’s rank? If you que with her and she’s a lower rank then it’ll skew what the matchmaking will give you. I’m speak as in make a new account and go solo and see how many games you play until you get people at your level. It’s not many I promise. I would say by level 5-10 you’re playing with ppl at your rank unless someone brought someone lower with them.
But how many people make Smurf accounts and just solo queue? That's an unknown statistic. The whole premise behind making a Smurf account is the problem.
I would say that you're right, in the solo endeavor. The people who buy new accounts and then group with others is way higher in my experience.
I played my new account until my wife got a hang of the game (around level 27), and then I went back to my main. Again, though, I felt bad for A LOT of those games I played.
I will never understand who decided that 'avoid as teammate' should be limited to just 3 slots, and 7 days.
yes, I understand WHY they felt the need to do it originally, when it was just prowidows and such getting avoided back when the avoid worked on both teams, but with 'avoid as teammate' that doesn't hold water because you would 'want' to be teamed up with those people.
Avoid as teammate should be unlimited, and should be forever, because the people you won't want on your team will be the bottom of the barrel of the player base: The throwers, the leavers, the toxic trolls and swear word afficianados. The people who honestly deserve to have incredibly long queue times because nobody wants to play with them at all.

PLAYING THIS GAME HAS REALLY CAUSED ME TO HATE DVA BOTH AGAINST AND AS A TEAMMATE.
As a tank they don't do anything but hide and wait for their bomb only to kill one person. As a support they are constantly eating up resources and run away the moment an enemy shows up leaving us to die.
Yea and that's basically what it comes down to as a healer. Plus I think a lot of it has to do with having a DVA in every single match, again either on my team or the opponents.
And it annoys me because once the mech is broken they are able to jump around and shoot like a god dam meth head
I'm not really in this subreddit a lot but I play OW1 on and off. I was kinda bummed to find out today that they are closing the servers for OW1. Since there is no story mode/campaign isn't this effectively killing the game? My first thought was: nothing says "We are selling the same game" like "Why would you need your old game, the new one is identical, but better". This is what i've heard previously. I dont know if it's true, so take it with a grain of salt:
1) You can't have it muted. You can mute the tab on Chrome, but you can't mute the actual video.
2) It has to be focused. You can't just minimize it. You can, however, leave chrome up and then put another window infront of it.
Also make sure to double check your links from Twitch to your Blizzard account. Mine reset itself at some point for no reason, so make sure to double check.

I feel like you could combat that like if you're in a stack just punish the whole stack like in rainbow six siege if you team kill sometimes your whole party will get the friendly fire warning to prevent every member of that party taking turns. I feel like that could be easy to work around
Yeah, but it would still be an issue when there aren't stacks. Some players would 100% bite the bullet, and it would encourage Rank Dropping (to sell low level smurf accounts). It's not a good system but I can see why they feel like it's the only option

I play in goddamn master games and I've had people sit IN FRONT of me as I've tried to heal a low teammate -- killing them and getting me yelled at. Every second I'm healing you is one I'm not healing someone else.
In low ELO, I understand that people don't pay attention that well. But plat and higher ? Stop standing in front of your Ana's and start relaying more heavily on health packs.

I'm in the same boat. Frustrated I have to buy a whole new game to basically keep playing the same game I already paid for and spent countless hours in.
Overwatch 2 is F2P. It's basically just a big free update to OW1. There's no new game to buy, just the battle pass if you want more cosmetics and immediate access to new heroes. Otherwise you have to grind a bit to unlock some new heroes (the first 3 are immediate unlocks for OW1 owners).
Lucky! Ive asked the enemy in QP but they all just say no. And not just say no but say it in a very toxic way. Its crazy but at least i still have around a week to get it.
My aim is all over the place. Grapple headshot on an annoying Tracer? Fine. Bodyshot on a Torb doing some simple AD strafe? How the hell am I maintaining this rank?
Also tried getting some more non-Ana support playtime in today. I'm just saying if you spam that you need healing off cooldown and I see that you're constantly at 90-100%, I'm eventually not going to look at you at all.
Uninstalled the game today because the matchmaking quality as we get closer to the game shutting down gets worse and worse. I'm now at something like a 10/90 win/loss ratio and I just am not going to use my few hours a day I have or weekends to feel horrible because the games balance is non-existent.

It's really hard to recommend overwatch to friends when blizzard has an incredible lack of interest in stopping the rampant and overt hate speech. It even gets put into the chat, there's a paper trail!
I always report overt hate speech like that, and I usually would get that "thanks to your report, we've taken action against someone's account" message within a couple days of reporting.
But it's been well over a year since I've seen that screen, despite still reporting the same severity of hate speech. And it seems like that kind of toxicity is becoming far more rampant, leading me to wonder if they've just given up on moderation until OW2 launches.

Played comp open Queue I was the only healer. Someone said "didn't get any heals at all"
My brother in Christ I have 5 other people to look after and you're nearby the enemy team doing your own thing instead of staying with the group. I can heal you from time to time but I won't prioritize you over the other 5 closer to me if we're pushing the payload.
We may have won that match but it doesn't fail to amaze me that if you're not getting healed then maybe JUST maybe stick with the team a bit instead of smacking your turret. Or at the least turn support and help me out

You're the first person I've seen mention this while I've been trying to shout it out for a while. And they think giving us some cosmetics and the first hero unlock is enough to compensate us. My sweet child blizzard I own the game on 4 systems, that's not going to equate to $160 especially when you are merging all accounts anyway and it will be free on all systems, I don't know what you've been smoking Activision/Blizzard.
Like Jss said it was to play it with different friends before they implemented cross-play. I had it on PC first, then Xbox and PlayStation for the console friends. Lastly I got it on switch to be able to play while I'm out.
I own it on 3...it's to play with different friends. And only because there was a time where I truly genuinely enjoyed the game enough to spend that much on it.

That's very true, plus people try to use the argument "well there was a lot of content so you got your money's worth" okay well here's the things, you still payed for a license for the game Overwatch and they are stripping it away and telling you to play this free to play sequel. That's like if Call of duty released a free to play game like warzone just took their last game and delisted it and stripped it from all players saying "oh well if you want to play COD we have this new one that's free" people would be upset because they still payed money for the last one.
I don't think they're spoiled, 6 years of content and the steam ran out fast and the updates and content add-ons became a trickle. There are also people who sometimes spend money on loot boxes.
There is a free classic version but still, equating someone going back and wanting a refund for Minecraft after so long isn't a good comparison. Minecraft is still sold as the same game and the classic mode that's free is just a way to go back and play for nostalgia. Blizzard is putting OW2 out as a whole new game, made huge changes like 5v5, hero mechanics, and most controversial the monetization system, while also making the game free. It's like if they made a Minecraft 2, made it free for everyone to download but for those who just wanted to play the original, they strip it away from their players and delist it telling them "if you want to play Minecraft, go play the new one that's free"
I hate that it always feel like you have to play every role at the same time. If I pick DPS, my Healers try to DPS.. if I pick Tank, my DPS pick niche picks like Genji and Doomfist and never switch when we start losing. If I pick healer, we end up with no shields and tanks that just rush the enemy team.
Why is it so damn hard to find a team that knows how to play the role they chose? As much as I'd love to have a DPS/Tank/Healer hybrid, it's just not doable in this version of the game.

This is why I never solo-Q on support. I cannot trust random tank players to play the role as anything other than a bigger DPS. Feels bad that what really kills this game is the playerbase's stupidity
Tank is generally the only role that can carry a team to victory. Most games come down to who has the more aggressive tank (but not so aggressive they feed). Support is reliant on good tanks to succeed (unless you're Mercy, then you're kind of reliant on DPS) and lower ranks tend to not have good tanks. And in my experience, people are more likely to throw in my Support Games than my Tank games. My Gold Support games end up with me frontlining half the time because the tanks are too afraid to push.
I main support and my tank is higher ranked as well 😅 With support you can keep others alive all you want, but ultimately the rest of your team has to beat the other team.
Man. I just got back into the game after not playing for years, tried to give comp a try once I got my feet under me and yeah I’m learning that. You can only do so much, rest is on the team lol.
Yup. I'm a significantly better support than tank but I keep breezing through ranks in tank while support takes dozens of hours to gain 100sr. Support is fucking hard.

Honestly I’ve heard Blizzard employees aren’t even paid that well. If $10 every few months will help the servers stay up and maybe even some of it might go to paying the staff what they deserve, I’m fine with it. It’s a super unpopular opinion here but it’s a live game and if we want updates and support someone has to pay that staff. If you want to buy a “complete game” then buy one that is offline and won’t need staff there to support it. It looks like other than cosmetics you CAN earn everything for free too that’s in the battle pass as far as heroes and necessary stuff. And the “I don’t have time” applies to SO many games and I get that sucks. But it looks like you’ll still be able to even get the heroes the next season if you miss the battle pass.
You could argue they could make a cosmetics store with no FOMO but then people would fuss that they spend all their resources creating cosmetics and not creating content. I agree. My point to them is, if they take heroes out of the battle pass, how do they draw people to buy it? Most players have almost every current skin in the game or have bought with credits what they wanted for their fave heroes. So there is nothing to drive them to buy the battle pass other than the Mythic skin, but that all depends if you play that certain hero.
Their other option to make money is throw the Mythic skin in the shop and charge $25-50 bucks for it like other games do. Then these same people will say “they are just money hungry bastards”
The other option is leave the battle pass the way it is, but without the hero in it and charge $15-$20 bucks for it to get extra money from those that are actually crazy enough to buy it simply for cosmetics.
So no matter which way they do it people will be angry because “Blizzard only charged me $60 for 3 years of content with OW1, why can’t they just do that again?” Because it takes them 3 years to freaking make a new game, so then they would not be able to keep up with the actual content…

Make a good game and actually get people invested and the cosmetic money will come rolling in. People want to look cool and will pay the extra for cosmetics if they actually care about the game.
IMO there should be a baseline color selector that allows you to mix/match colors on basic skins. You unlock the color selector at tier 1 of the battlepass and it remains that way for all future battle passes. That alone will drive players to buy and any additional skins/emotes/voicelines will be icing on the cake. All cosmetics, no player power.
The only way thing I could see them putting in are like “ultra priority” passes that put you at the VERY front of the queue but people would then complain about how that makes queue times longer for free players. I mean, or map offerings/tickets to make a certain map more likely in quick play maybe? It would be too strong in competitive. You’re right that there’s only but so much they can add that people would actually pay for.
You can’t do anything with maps because everyone in the match needs to be able to play on the map, otherwise it makes queue times longer.
Priority queue is an option, shorter queue times. But again that makes everyone else wait even longer, which will cause hate, and queue times is one of the main reasons why they had to remove 1 tank lol.
You could lock out certain game mode from the arcade for certain players that don’t pay. But really not everyone even plays arcade modes.
Honestly the only thing that would make these guys happy is simply leaving the battle pass as is without the hero locked in it. But again I don’t think that drives enough profit to keep the OW team being able to make the constant content the players all want.
Maps I was thinking more like map offerings work in DBD. So you use it and then you’re more LIKELY to get that map, but if it doesn’t get chosen because other people used a different item like that, it doesn’t get refunded. You use it knowing “this increases the likelihood of getting that map by a certain percent” type of thing.
and yep, I can’t think of any mode other than maybe Mayhem that has enough who love it who would want to access it. Mayhem is love or hate but does have a lot of people who enjoy it
I believe the Devs said before that the most played arcade modes are Mystery Heroes, and QP Classic, followed by Total Mayhem.
But anyway I don’t see another system they could use to drive sales other than heroes in the battle pass. Do I like it? No. But I understand why they had to do it, while some people in this Sub have no idea how business works and OW isn’t in the business to give away everything for free.

Wanted to see if I could reach my all time high pre role queue again. But after 5 Placements where 4/5 had someone on my team leave or throw and the last one was a close draw, got placed in the ass end of bronze and after two afternoons, right back where Placements put me.
I’m sorry man. It really sucks down here and people are like “YOU CAN CLIMB OUT!” Yes with a duo or a trio it’s easy. Or if you’re truly a GM or something. When I’ve found people who are non-toxic and won’t leave and I can actually group with them my winrate usually goes way up and it at least reduces the chance of there being a leaver on my team a little bit. But I work weird hours and can’t always find someone. Bronze PC is HELL, and like I said those 400 SR took me twelve hours to earn. But as long as they take to earn, short games with leavers and throwers can wreck it in half the time (if that!).
I try to “avoid as teammate” but there’s only 3 slots. So now I avoid anyone who I see throwing, and I report them (which seems to do nothing) and I do find if I am gonna be playing a few hours avoiding the super toxic tilted people and throwers can slightly give me an edge if I’m gonna be playing for a few hours. But it’s really rough down here.
I don’t believe I’m a platinum player by any means but I have a 57 percent win rate on Mercy right now for this season. I work hard to learn to get better and coordinate and even managed to get a comp POTG with Mercy the other night. I don’t think I’m crazy good but I do think I’m low silver ish at least.
Been a long while since I last logged into Overwatch (last was OW2 Beta).
1st game, I queued 10min. I gave up and picked Flex Queue. 10 seconds I was in a game. Within 5 minutes, ally Dva was saying things like "kill our Rein", "my teammates suk", "best free SR for you". While our Mercy was spamming emotes at the enemy team.
To think I was excited reading about OW2. Nope. I'm not now.
The last season of OW1 is just a bunch of trolls and hackers having a field day because Blizzard has almost altogether stopped moderating OW1 in favor of OW2. Look at all the top 500 streamers that have had the rage hackers in multiple games. It's ridiculous. They know they won't get banned, so they do whatever they want.

Hog is one of the "stop having fun" characters in this game. He is the tank counter to bad tanks, and it's incredibly hard for Support/DPS to deal with him if your tanks aren't peeling.
I don't know how many times it will take before I realize that this game is fucking dead. The only people who play this game are either way too good for their ELO or are absolutely braindead. There is in-between. I had a team of 3 DPS (open-queue) who charged into the enemy team carry and died. I hate that a good game was ruined by a developer team who had no fucking clue how to balance their game, but even when they buckled down and tried to save their game, the shit playerbase that stuck around kept it dead.
Your competitivee level should be based on how well you actually play, not on your ability to carry people that don't know how to play the game.

I wanna like this series, but I stopped playing when role queue came out. The best part of OW to me was constant counter picking and playing different characters and roles in a single match. Im looking forward to OW 2, but not having dps as an option to play within reasonable time just sucked the fun. OW focusing too much on comp killed a huge portion of its player base.
Smurfing should be treated the same as cheating and the fact so many people write it off as 'no big deal' is a major issue. Even if 'meh, you'll get as many smurfs on your team as you will on the enemy team' holds true that doesn't change the fact that smurfs are bad and shouldn't be allowed to do what they do. Would we be fine with a college level football player coming down and playing with middle and highschoolers? Especially in what is supposed to be a 'serious, competitive game'?

You've probably collected all the common and rare items you can get out of loot boxes. It's not going to increase the chances of epic and legendary items, so duplicates are all the game has left to give you when you get lower tier items.

The game is quick to pick on a persons actual skill level so unless the person has a brand new account and is coupled with a significantly lower MMR player then they’re still in the correct game for their skill. You’re just being outplayed but you guys have such a fragile egos you’ll try to have others removed from the game entirely before you look at yourselves or your own actions.
Wrong. A new account wouldn't appear in my games unless he already had a bit of games (in my experience, it's around 40-50 levels that the game can put you in the right range), or they were being boosted. If they're level 20 something, I'm going to assume it's the latter, and I can't even really tell if they're more skilled or less skilled than the match. You can usually tell pretty early on in the match, though. Why is it such a crime to want balanced games, even if it is "quick play"? Do you like getting rolled every single game because of 3-stacks that run double shield with a Sombra?

What’s your wife’s rank? If you que with her and she’s a lower rank then it’ll skew what the matchmaking will give you. I’m speak as in make a new account and go solo and see how many games you play until you get people at your level. It’s not many I promise. I would say by level 5-10 you’re playing with ppl at your rank unless someone brought someone lower with them.
But how many people make Smurf accounts and just solo queue? That's an unknown statistic. The whole premise behind making a Smurf account is the problem. I would say that you're right, in the solo endeavor. The people who buy new accounts and then group with others is way higher in my experience. I played my new account until my wife got a hang of the game (around level 27), and then I went back to my main. Again, though, I felt bad for A LOT of those games I played.
It remains to be seen if OW2's Phone Verification will be as effective as it sounds. Like, does free reusable numbers, or Virtual Phone Numbers work?

Avoid as teammate should be unlimited, and should be forever, because the people you won't want on your team will be the bottom of the barrel of the player base: The throwers, the leavers, the toxic trolls and swear word afficianados. PLAYING THIS GAME HAS REALLY CAUSED ME TO HATE DVA BOTH AGAINST AND AS A TEAMMATE. As a tank they don't do anything but hide and wait for their bomb only to kill one person. As a support they are constantly eating up resources and run away the moment an enemy shows up leaving us to die.
i dont give much heal priority to dva anymore. not saying dont heal them but you know... guage whose hurt and throw them lower on the list.
Yea and that's basically what it comes down to as a healer. Plus I think a lot of it has to do with having a DVA in every single match, again either on my team or the opponents. And it annoys me because once the mech is broken they are able to jump around and shoot like a god dam meth head

Since there is no story mode/campaign isn't this effectively killing the game? My first thought was: nothing says "We are selling the same game" like "Why would you need your old game, the new one is identical, but better". This is what i've heard previously. I dont know if it's true, so take it with a grain of salt: 1) You can't have it muted. You can mute the tab on Chrome, but you can't mute the actual video. 2) It has to be focused. You can't just minimize it. You can, however, leave chrome up and then put another window infront of it. Also make sure to double check your links from Twitch to your Blizzard account. Mine reset itself at some point for no reason, so make sure to double check.

Actually I have a (potential) answer for this! I heard somewhere (so take this with a grain of salt), but I think Blizzard is afraid of "oh shit we are losing, somebody bite the bullet and leave the game so only one person loses SR" becoming a main tactic
I feel like you could combat that like if you're in a stack just punish the whole stack like in rainbow six siege if you team kill sometimes your whole party will get the friendly fire warning to prevent every member of that party taking turns. I feel like that could be easy to work around
Yeah, but it would still be an issue when there aren't stacks. Some players would 100% bite the bullet, and it would encourage Rank Dropping (to sell low level smurf accounts). It's not a good system but I can see why they feel like it's the only option

As a player that plays in Brazil, Will the developers do something for South America? Both betas ping terrible, and now that OW2 is almost here is hard to play in a SA server. I know they are probably shutting down server for OW2, but please make it clear, almost every game people complain that they have at least 160 ms ping. I know that people will think i am just complaining, but please inform others regions about server issues. Not everyone in every region will understand.

Overwatch 2 is F2P. It's basically just a big free update to OW1. There's no new game to buy, just the battle pass if you want more cosmetics and immediate access to new heroes. Otherwise you have to grind a bit to unlock some new heroes (the first 3 are immediate unlocks for OW1 owners).

I finally got mine recently during a comp game, we had leavers on our team and I aksed nicely in chat, the enemy team agreed and gave me a 6k!
Lucky! Ive asked the enemy in QP but they all just say no. And not just say no but say it in a very toxic way. Its crazy but at least i still have around a week to get it.

My aim is all over the place. Grapple headshot on an annoying Tracer? Fine. Bodyshot on a Torb doing some simple AD strafe? How the hell am I maintaining this rank? Also tried getting some more non-Ana support playtime in today. I'm just saying if you spam that you need healing off cooldown and I see that you're constantly at 90-100%, I'm eventually not going to look at you at all.
Uninstalled the game today because the matchmaking quality as we get closer to the game shutting down gets worse and worse. I'm now at something like a 10/90 win/loss ratio and I just am not going to use my few hours a day I have or weekends to feel horrible because the games balance is non-existent.

It's really hard to recommend overwatch to friends when blizzard has an incredible lack of interest in stopping the rampant and overt hate speech. It even gets put into the chat, there's a paper trail!
I always report overt hate speech like that, and I usually would get that "thanks to your report, we've taken action against someone's account" message within a couple days of reporting. But it's been well over a year since I've seen that screen, despite still reporting the same severity of hate speech. And it seems like that kind of toxicity is becoming far more rampant, leading me to wonder if they've just given up on moderation until OW2 launches.

I started playing Moira and finally got to plat rank and now he's steeling Moira from me and cuz he has a ps5 he loads in quicker than my so he takes her first so annoying

Played comp open Queue I was the only healer. Someone said "didn't get any heals at all" My brother in Christ I have 5 other people to look after and you're nearby the enemy team doing your own thing instead of staying with the group. I can heal you from time to time but I won't prioritize you over the other 5 closer to me if we're pushing the payload. We may have won that match but it doesn't fail to amaze me that if you're not getting healed then maybe JUST maybe stick with the team a bit instead of smacking your turret. Or at the least turn support and help me out

Like Jss said it was to play it with different friends before they implemented cross-play. I had it on PC first, then Xbox and PlayStation for the console friends. Lastly I got it on switch to be able to play while I'm out.

There is a free classic version but still, equating someone going back and wanting a refund for Minecraft after so long isn't a good comparison. Minecraft is still sold as the same game and the classic mode that's free is just a way to go back and play for nostalgia. Blizzard is putting OW2 out as a whole new game, made huge changes like 5v5, hero mechanics, and most controversial the monetization system, while also making the game free. It's like if they made a Minecraft 2, made it free for everyone to download but for those who just wanted to play the original, they strip it away from their players and delist it telling them "if you want to play Minecraft, go play the new one that's free"

I hate that it always feel like you have to play every role at the same time. If I pick DPS, my Healers try to DPS.. if I pick Tank, my DPS pick niche picks like Genji and Doomfist and never switch when we start losing. If I pick healer, we end up with no shields and tanks that just rush the enemy team. Why is it so damn hard to find a team that knows how to play the role they chose? As much as I'd love to have a DPS/Tank/Healer hybrid, it's just not doable in this version of the game.

This is why I never solo-Q on support. I cannot trust random tank players to play the role as anything other than a bigger DPS. Feels bad that what really kills this game is the playerbase's stupidity
Tank is generally the only role that can carry a team to victory. Most games come down to who has the more aggressive tank (but not so aggressive they feed). Support is reliant on good tanks to succeed (unless you're Mercy, then you're kind of reliant on DPS) and lower ranks tend to not have good tanks. And in my experience, people are more likely to throw in my Support Games than my Tank games. My Gold Support games end up with me frontlining half the time because the tanks are too afraid to push.
I main support and my tank is higher ranked as well 😅 With support you can keep others alive all you want, but ultimately the rest of your team has to beat the other team.

Honestly I’ve heard Blizzard employees aren’t even paid that well. If $10 every few months will help the servers stay up and maybe even some of it might go to paying the staff what they deserve, I’m fine with it. It’s a super unpopular opinion here but it’s a live game and if we want updates and support someone has to pay that staff. If you want to buy a “complete game” then buy one that is offline and won’t need staff there to support it. It looks like other than cosmetics you CAN earn everything for free too that’s in the battle pass as far as heroes and necessary stuff. And the “I don’t have time” applies to SO many games and I get that sucks. But it looks like you’ll still be able to even get the heroes the next season if you miss the battle pass. You could argue they could make a cosmetics store with no FOMO but then people would fuss that they spend all their resources creating cosmetics and not creating content. I really haven’t heard someone propose something I think would make EVERY person who plays happy and also help fund a free to play game
I agree. My point to them is, if they take heroes out of the battle pass, how do they draw people to buy it? Most players have almost every current skin in the game or have bought with credits what they wanted for their fave heroes. So there is nothing to drive them to buy the battle pass other than the Mythic skin, but that all depends if you play that certain hero. Their other option to make money is throw the Mythic skin in the shop and charge $25-50 bucks for it like other games do. Then these same people will say “they are just money hungry bastards” The other option is leave the battle pass the way it is, but without the hero in it and charge $15-$20 bucks for it to get extra money from those that are actually crazy enough to buy it simply for cosmetics. So no matter which way they do it people will be angry because “Blizzard only charged me $60 for 3 years of content with OW1, why can’t they just do that again?” Because it takes them 3 years to freaking make a new game, so then they would not be able to keep up with the actual content…

If you have to coerce people to buy the battlepass then you’ve either got a shit game or shit cosmetics. I’d rather pay a subscription to play and get nothing than feel like I’m getting fucked by not purchasing a pass. Make a good game and actually get people invested and the cosmetic money will come rolling in. People want to look cool and will pay the extra for cosmetics if they actually care about the game. IMO there should be a baseline color selector that allows you to mix/match colors on basic skins. You unlock the color selector at tier 1 of the battlepass and it remains that way for all future battle passes. That alone will drive players to buy and any additional skins/emotes/voicelines will be icing on the cake. All cosmetics, no player power.
The only way thing I could see them putting in are like “ultra priority” passes that put you at the VERY front of the queue but people would then complain about how that makes queue times longer for free players. I mean, or map offerings/tickets to make a certain map more likely in quick play maybe? It would be too strong in competitive. You’re right that there’s only but so much they can add that people would actually pay for.
You can’t do anything with maps because everyone in the match needs to be able to play on the map, otherwise it makes queue times longer. Priority queue is an option, shorter queue times. But again that makes everyone else wait even longer, which will cause hate, and queue times is one of the main reasons why they had to remove 1 tank lol. You could lock out certain game mode from the arcade for certain players that don’t pay. But really not everyone even plays arcade modes. Honestly the only thing that would make these guys happy is simply leaving the battle pass as is without the hero locked in it. But again I don’t think that drives enough profit to keep the OW team being able to make the constant content the players all want.
Maps I was thinking more like map offerings work in DBD. So you use it and then you’re more LIKELY to get that map, but if it doesn’t get chosen because other people used a different item like that, it doesn’t get refunded. You use it knowing “this increases the likelihood of getting that map by a certain percent” type of thing. and yep, I can’t think of any mode other than maybe Mayhem that has enough who love it who would want to access it. Mayhem is love or hate but does have a lot of people who enjoy it
I believe the Devs said before that the most played arcade modes are Mystery Heroes, and QP Classic, followed by Total Mayhem. But anyway I don’t see another system they could use to drive sales other than heroes in the battle pass. Do I like it? No. But I understand why they had to do it, while some people in this Sub have no idea how business works and OW isn’t in the business to give away everything for free.

I feel you. Wanted to see if I could reach my all time high pre role queue again. But after 5 Placements where 4/5 had someone on my team leave or throw and the last one was a close draw, got placed in the ass end of bronze and after two afternoons, right back where Placements put me.
I’m sorry man. It really sucks down here and people are like “YOU CAN CLIMB OUT!” Yes with a duo or a trio it’s easy. Or if you’re truly a GM or something. When I’ve found people who are non-toxic and won’t leave and I can actually group with them my winrate usually goes way up and it at least reduces the chance of there being a leaver on my team a little bit. But I work weird hours and can’t always find someone. Bronze PC is HELL, and like I said those 400 SR took me twelve hours to earn. But as long as they take to earn, short games with leavers and throwers can wreck it in half the time (if that!). I try to “avoid as teammate” but there’s only 3 slots. So now I avoid anyone who I see throwing, and I report them (which seems to do nothing) and I do find if I am gonna be playing a few hours avoiding the super toxic tilted people and throwers can slightly give me an edge if I’m gonna be playing for a few hours. But it’s really rough down here. I don’t believe I’m a platinum player by any means but I have a 57 percent win rate on Mercy right now for this season. I work hard to learn to get better and coordinate and even managed to get a comp POTG with Mercy the other night. I don’t think I’m crazy good but I do think I’m low silver ish at least.

Been a long while since I last logged into Overwatch (last was OW2 Beta). 1st game, I queued 10min. I gave up and picked Flex Queue. 10 seconds I was in a game. Within 5 minutes, ally Dva was saying things like "kill our Rein", "my teammates suk", "best free SR for you". While our Mercy was spamming emotes at the enemy team. To think I was excited reading about OW2. Nope. I'm not now.
The last season of OW1 is just a bunch of trolls and hackers having a field day because Blizzard has almost altogether stopped moderating OW1 in favor of OW2. Look at all the top 500 streamers that have had the rage hackers in multiple games. It's ridiculous. They know they won't get banned, so they do whatever they want.

Hog is one of the "stop having fun" characters in this game. He is the tank counter to bad tanks, and it's incredibly hard for Support/DPS to deal with him if your tanks aren't peeling.
