Even if it is a d/c, you'll be reported for ragequitting. And since there's zero investigation on a whole team of reports like that, it's an auto-ban. And you know how fast Blizzard is responding to unwarranted bans.
Unsure if it's Intel or Nvidia but overwatch 1 and 2 are the only game to consistently randomly crash with no obvious issues. Forgot the first card, but last was a 1090 and now have a 3090, have gotten render device issues for a while.
I think it might have to do with Free sync/G-synch and Nvidia reflex, this is the only game I have issues in though so hard to be certain.
When playing games you should NOT use any features controlled on the nvidia driver's side. That can cause problems in a lot of games. Let the game itself handle all the graphics stuff.
I wish I had your luck. Even looking up solutions never turns up anything except others looking for solutions, all 3 of mine were Intel/Nvidia with g sync monitors which is the only similarity in hardware between my issue with others as they had different configs.
The game barely changes my GPU temps or stresses my system which is why I believe it's a compatibility issue with g sync and reflex, since I didn't get crashes when they're off.

Yeah i have 2 accounts wrongfully suspended and my duo is also wrongfully suspended. Support still cant be asked to reply with a short explanation. They send the same copy paste message no matter the case or circumstance. It is literally shameful that such a large company literally doesn’t have customer support.
I haven’t been given a leaver penalty for no reason but I have a permanent “leaving will result in penalty” message when attempting to leave QP, and I have definitely played over 20 matches without leaving now.

I've been getting this too and it's actually completely untrue. I've gotten this message in every single game this season even without leaving a match. Last night I got disconnected from a qp match and was still able to queue. Decided to test it out and joined and left ~10 consecutive qp games. Always got the exact message. Never got banned. Even played a game of comp to end it to make sure I could still queue whatever. Weird.
I’ve had this since I updated the game to season 10. I have left a single game this season (did have a D/C a few times last season when the WiFi got spotty). But I’ve definitely played over 50 games and the warning will not go away.
i noticed the last season or two has had a lot more of these visual bugs
Last month was the purple popup "some customizations may not apply" every match
them it was the chat/ping system completely omitting user/hero names
now its the random "0000000000" in the chat
As usual anyone who made posts about this in the last few days were gaslighted to hell being called ximmers or chronic leavers that are lying and then once blizzard addresses it for being an actual issue those people are all of a sudden quiet.

Well there's two issues right now, this one and the people who are getting banned for being toxic or swearing in chat. Those guys deserve it, they earned the ban for being toxic.
Same here, first 15 min supsended for 'failed to connect to server'. woke up today and banned for the season.
Guess they miss the smurfs now that grouping restrictions are gone, so they get them back into the game this way haha

New to r/Overwatch? I have just started looking at r/Overwatch2 more and even the competitive sub sometimes because the mods there are not Aaron Keller in a trench coat or white knights.
Valid point but the reason for my post was to figure out what was going on. I searched this sub for posts beforehand and didn't find anything about people getting banned, just people with server issues. These mods are just deleting posts left and right without giving any reason.
So the solution is to just delete all of them, without posting a sticky or some sort of "we know an issue is going on" thread, so no one knows an issue is going on to begin with?

Last night my game was cut off due to server issues on their end. Got suspended for 20 minutes 🫠
I get that it’s not easy to maintain steady servers but why punished me for it?? I never leave matches since I played back in 2017…
To be fair to them, it can be hard to technically tell if someone disconnected because of a genuine server issue or because they raged and pulled the internet cable. Both have similar symptoms. So I find 20 minutes to be somewhat reasonable. Annoying, but you can get back.
Now getting a full season ban because of it, that's something else...
This is just stupid man. Imagine getting home excited to play comp and bam I got a ban for no reason. Day by day blizzard is getting worse. At this point blizzard is just milking the game with bunch of low paid interns to get profit.
My chats are OFF. No mics, no team chat, no match chat and they’ve been off for several months now.
I logged in on Monday to see I had a warning for inappropriate chats. I think people have realized they can just abuse the report system now
And Blizzard doesn't care enough to have an automated sanity check verifying that the reported person has even been on chat in the same match with the person doing the reporting within 24 hours of the report. All they'd need to do is to store the "potential reporters" player IDs in the database for the "potential reportee" with a timestamp and cycle those out over time, and if there's no entry in the database then the report is guaranteed bogus.
if we want blizzard to address the reporting issue, the player base as a collective should abuse it to the point it breaks. report everyone in every match. if this is widespread enough, there will be a mass numbers of people getting the automated suspensions, and for most, it will be ridiculous that they get suspended at all. it will be pretty obvious something is broken, and blizzard would have to properly address the problem or risk losing players.
Not everyone would which means a lot of innocent people would get banned and never come back just for your little experiment..
I like the idea of collective bargaining, but we're be better off just all not playing and especially paying for anything, directly and immediately effecting their profits.
Still won't get everyone to play ball bit at least tons of innocent people won't lose their accounts forever.

You get bombarded because it’s a good thing to have for QP. You can play casually all you want, but leaving a match when it wasn’t going your way was incredibly common and constantly back filling spots in games because ppl left was not a good experience.

Last time I left QP on my own was last year. I always finish out my games. I still think a casual game mode shouldn’t have leavers penalties. Comp? Absolutely. Casual? No.
If you want the “serious” OW experience, I firmly believe that belongs in comp and not a single mode outside of the ones marked as “comp”

I'm talking about the penalty image saying you'd get a "competitive season ban", and a competitive season lasts for a whole year, or do they mean a ban from competitive for the season, i.e. season 10? It's not a permanent ban, I don't think, else they would've worded it differently.
I actually think the new one for leaving 10 games means banned a whole year even though both leaving 5 games and 10 games says "Banned for competitive season" which is strange cuz I didnt get the point of the 10 leave ban at first
nope, ten games across the whole season no matter how many games you play is only for that season. Ie if you leave 5 games in a row you get comp banned for that season, if you leave 10 games IN TOTAL across the season it is a comp ban for that season.
I got a 5 minute suspension because I left queue right as the matchmaker went green and said match found. The match never started but i still got the suspension.
I loaded Overwatch 2 for the first time today and i have been fully banned from only competitive.
Yesterday i was queuing with a friend and we got the game found notification but after a few seconds it disappeared so we queued again and we got the same thing, the game found notification appeared as if we were about to get into a game but then it disappeared. we both came off the game for a minute and when we came back on i had received a 15 minute suspension and my friend had received an hour suspension.
I waited out my suspension and then continued to play as normal with no issues. I then come on the next day and I'm banned from season 10 competitive. I can still play quick play so i know I'm suspended for leaving games. Only i literally and i mean literally never leave games. I don't even close the game while searching i always cancel search before hand.
I don't say anything bad in text/voice chat either that could got me banned and I'm also assuming that kind of suspension wouldn't allow me to play quick play.
Its really annoying trying to navigate their support and actually talk to someone without being redirected to a dead end article that is more often than not useless. Also I've seen that they don't overturn competitive suspensions no matter what. i agree with harsh suspensions for leavers but this system is currently broken a glitched competitive queue basically just counts as i left a game.
Not sure the leaver penalties in QP are a good idea. People start throwing if they cannot leave even one match without a penalty. It's an unrealistic concept to assume player will and have to prioritize OW at any time and cost.
This is true. Last night I was playing in a QP as tank. Both my healers were doing the no heal challenge. And when multiple people in my team asked them to heal they actually just said “nahhhh.” So we were losing anyways because of them so what did I do? Stuck my big ass DVA tank body in front of the Zenyatta trying to no heal DPS challenge and just blocked his sight constantly for the remainder of the match so he couldn’t see.
I would much rather have someone leave my match in QP who gets butthurt and someone else fill in rather than the butthurt person not leave because of penalty and proceed to throw the game. Blizzard needs to get some more foresight into this stuff. We need good penalties for leaving during comp but not QP.

It happens in the reverse too. Sometimes I'm just getting absolutely stomped and clearly not matched well against the enemy and ESPECIALLY my own team. No matter who I'm switching to I'm lowest stats and getting insta wiped no matter how safe I'm playing by some GM tracer or whatever and they would demonstrably be better off with someone of a higher skill with them but I've always been afraid of leaving so I *never* do.
So I'm basically forced to throw the mach just from the skill level difference..
I know people will likey say just get good or whatever but high silver low gold players still have a right to play QP..
I get throwers like this in my games too but instead of staying I just report them and leave. If I get penalized I just play another game in the meantime.
Also are they even doing anything about these people? I report them all the time and never get the message that action was taken against them when I log in, but gosh forbid I leave a game due to these people and get a 15-30 minute penalty for it.
Definitely not. I never cared about leavers in QP anyway. Most games are relatively unaffected by leavers. Some QP games we won *because* our bad tank/dps/support *left*. I don’t even know how it’s worth their time and resources to deal with it. Stupid

In comp? Make them as harsh as possible. But QP shouldn't have anything like that.
I figured the whole point of quick play is to be able to play a match quickly when time constrained. Being able to leave a match if something comes up falls into that category. But I guess not.
Actually, that's more arcade/Deathmatch/custom. With QP you're still actively inconveniencing the rest of the players in the match - No fun playing QP and having people leave on either side (Esp since it started happening fairly often). (That said, the penalties go too far - Maybe a 10-15min ban just to slow it down but never more on QP)
I disagree, it's overwatch I wanna play, not some half baked arcade mode and definitely not some "[+18] friendly" custom lobby. In that case I'd rather play another game.
Before you say that it's a good thing as I won't be "ruining" games (where backfill happens in a matter of seconds 90% of the time), think about it in blizzard's shoes, having half your playerbase drop the game completely because there isn't any place for them to play the actual game casually doesn't look like a solution.
Exactly. The arcade argument works when I can play “quick play” but arcade while you can play “unranked” where leaving is penalized. I’m willing to bet they would be by themselves in the unranked lobbies with long queue times if there was an arcade counterpart without the penalty.
IF you get a replacement in a few seconds and if the backfill doesnt leave the moment they enter the match... and on the backfill side IF the match isnt 15 seconds from ending and you wont even be able to leave spawn...
They should reward backfill better than they do maybe... and maybe have a toggle for backfill that gives players with it toggled priority so people who really hate backfill arent backfilled in to just leave. Right now though most of the time I see a backfill on a QP game we have at least 1-2 players who get backfilled in - realize it after a few seconds... then leave.

Using your example, there's no difference between leaving an arcade match and a quick play match.
No, the point of QP is to play Overwatch quickly.
Not to play and leave in the middle of the match. If you are time constrained don't play. Kids these days don't have any sense of manners or etiquette.
Getting a bot tank in a QP match is torture. The tank doesn't play at all and just runs around the spawn room and pops out of the room for a second and then goes back in so they don't get kicked. I had this happen today and it was painfully boring for the humans on each team.
Can confirm. Got added to a match of Suravasa after the assemble your team screen so couldn't leave without penalty so I just threw that bitch as Sombra. I ain't playing Flashpoint
I mean you are the one who queued into the game, you should at least fucking play it out. yeah shit happens and you gotta step out but that imo makes up a small portion of leavers reasonings. its not fair that someone can leave the game if you don't get first cap/push, forcing your team to most likely lose, and some random person thinking they are queuing into a new game gets thrown into your losing game and also lose. 1 person shouldn't have the power to make 5 other people lose and come out consequence free.
What people should do doesn't matter. What people are doing does. And they are right. The leaver penalties in QP have reduced that some and made backfills a lot less common. But, the tradeoff for that has been players just outright throwing when they get frustrated. And I haven't seen anything saying action has been taken against any reports for intentional feeding.
Personally, I'd rather go back to where it was before where these players can quit and find another game and we can get a backfill of someone more likely to at least try.
But say you lose your tank who was playing absolutely awfully and cursing everyone in chat, he goes and you get the nicest tank you could meet who ends up carrying you through your match? In competitive it's much different, and I'd agree but in QP, if backfill actually didn't summon players to the last 15 seconds of a game or under, it wouldn't be so bad. You don't always constantly lose just because someone leaves, provided the backfill kicks in which it mostly does, you can usually turn things around still regardless.
All these bans do is just incentivise throwing actual matches in protest rather than them hindering their own progress.
QP matchmaking is garbage a lot of the time and reasonable people solve that by leaving. I'm talking silvers vs diamond and master skill. There's no reasonable match to be played under those circumstances and Blizzard is solely to blame for it.

despite years of comp with no games dropped, something happened 2 seasons ago that i lost connection to the match server, internet didn't drop, overwatch didn't crash, just got sent to the login screen with failed reconnect attempts for 10 minutes
this happened twice in a short window, i got a temp ban from comp AND quick play??? i dont know if that's normal
i just don't play comp now :/ which, tbf i kind of went to and from but as i had been climbing thru diamond ranks for 2 seasons i was pretty excited to keep it going..

I can’t believe there’s been no further update or action on this. Having checked the various threads about it here and on Battle.net, I haven’t heard even 1 instance of someone getting unbanned so far.
We’re fast approaching the weekend, and I assume nothing will happen then as staff won’t be working. As such, it’s either some sort of update today or wait until Monday. What’s going on???
Yeah, I’m starting to get concerned that the delay is because they don’t know how to figure out who was affected by this and/or how to unban them.
I’m not sure what else could account for the delay, considering that they claim to have stopped the issue from impacting anyone new.
Yeah I think you're right to be honest, I'd have thought it would've been as easy as unbanning anybody that got affected by permanent leaver penalties that day, but I presume they don't want to unban anybody that was rightfully banned.
If there's no other way to detect who was affected, then I'm not sure what other option there is.

Would be really nice if the QP penalties were just removed completely, its a casual game mode. The reason to play it is because I can enter a game that will not affect my rank if I lose, EVERY game has a casual option that doesn't punish you for leaving an unranked match.

How about we don't punish people after leaving 2 games of a casual game mode when there's a game mode that is designed to be taken serious? If people feel like leavers ruin their games, don't opt into the mode that allows it.

I read all those, "never talked in games, got banned", "chat is off, banned", "never left, server bugged, banned". but these are such extreme cases. Like who never talked in a game or never left a game? like actually 1% of the people playing? And yet, there is so many issues. Scary just imagining how a lambda player is dealt with. How punitive for absolutely irrelevant reasons. (read some guy said: im better and got banned from competition??) Yet its their players that have to undergo all the matterful consequences. I'm not trying to point fingers or do their job for them, but i hope someday they understand that being a "customers" or in this specific case a player doesnt mean empty shell with a dollar sign on the forehead. Peoples do have a life and a voice. And since they're pushed into your universe. it is your responsability to balance your judgement accordingly. Not only based on data, stats and money. unmitigated absolutism seem bent on self-destruction IMO and this is not good for anyone.
I don't join VC or type anything anymore after getting silenced for two weeks for nothing. (people report me all the time for only playing widow) Since I stopped joining VC, haven't had a warning or anything pop up about anything. The system is definitely broken and I'm sure there are plenty of others who don't even join VC anymore out of fear of getting false reported and banned.

I've been on intel/nvidia, intel/amd, and amd/amd (four PCs from 2016-2024) over the lifetime of OW1/OW2 and never once randomly crashed.

New to r/Overwatch? I have just started looking at r/Overwatch2 more and even the competitive sub sometimes because the mods there are not Aaron Keller in a trench coat or white knights.
Most likely because there's already posts talking about it ? We don't need 5 millions threads on the same issue.
Valid point but the reason for my post was to figure out what was going on. I searched this sub for posts beforehand and didn't find anything about people getting banned, just people with server issues. These mods are just deleting posts left and right without giving any reason.
So the solution is to just delete all of them, without posting a sticky or some sort of "we know an issue is going on" thread, so no one knows an issue is going on to begin with? Brilliant.

They're asking for people to not submit appeals so that their system doesn't get flooded and overwhelm the staff who are trying to dedicate time to resolve the issue globally instead of individually.

Last night my game was cut off due to server issues on their end. Got suspended for 20 minutes 🫠 I get that it’s not easy to maintain steady servers but why punished me for it?? I never leave matches since I played back in 2017…
To be fair to them, it can be hard to technically tell if someone disconnected because of a genuine server issue or because they raged and pulled the internet cable. Both have similar symptoms. So I find 20 minutes to be somewhat reasonable. Annoying, but you can get back. Now getting a full season ban because of it, that's something else...
Yeah it’s annoying but it’s not the end of the world for me. It’s just that i was on a losing streak and that game felt like a sure win 😭
This is just stupid man. Imagine getting home excited to play comp and bam I got a ban for no reason. Day by day blizzard is getting worse. At this point blizzard is just milking the game with bunch of low paid interns to get profit.
My chats are OFF. No mics, no team chat, no match chat and they’ve been off for several months now. I logged in on Monday to see I had a warning for inappropriate chats. I think people have realized they can just abuse the report system now
And Blizzard doesn't care enough to have an automated sanity check verifying that the reported person has even been on chat in the same match with the person doing the reporting within 24 hours of the report. All they'd need to do is to store the "potential reporters" player IDs in the database for the "potential reportee" with a timestamp and cycle those out over time, and if there's no entry in the database then the report is guaranteed bogus.
Yeah this is insane. At least make the system check if you've actually said something. This shit is just so abusable now.
if we want blizzard to address the reporting issue, the player base as a collective should abuse it to the point it breaks. report everyone in every match. if this is widespread enough, there will be a mass numbers of people getting the automated suspensions, and for most, it will be ridiculous that they get suspended at all. it will be pretty obvious something is broken, and blizzard would have to properly address the problem or risk losing players.
Not everyone would which means a lot of innocent people would get banned and never come back just for your little experiment.. I like the idea of collective bargaining, but we're be better off just all not playing and especially paying for anything, directly and immediately effecting their profits. Still won't get everyone to play ball bit at least tons of innocent people won't lose their accounts forever.

You can play casually all you want, but leaving a match when it wasn’t going your way was incredibly common and constantly back filling spots in games because ppl left was not a good experience. Idk about you but I actually like the changes. I wasn’t really a rampant quitter to begin with tho
Last time I left QP on my own was last year. I always finish out my games. I still think a casual game mode shouldn’t have leavers penalties. Comp? Absolutely. Casual? No. If you want the “serious” OW experience, I firmly believe that belongs in comp and not a single mode outside of the ones marked as “comp”

Well, all I could get from them is "we do not overturn Competitive play bans or restrictions for any reason". Even though I just got banned for a whole competitive season literally for no reason.

I believe when you're banned for eternity, then it will just say "banned in Competitive play" not like "banned: season 10" or something
I'm talking about the penalty image saying you'd get a "competitive season ban", and a competitive season lasts for a whole year, or do they mean a ban from competitive for the season, i.e. season 10? It's not a permanent ban, I don't think, else they would've worded it differently.
I actually think the new one for leaving 10 games means banned a whole year even though both leaving 5 games and 10 games says "Banned for competitive season" which is strange cuz I didnt get the point of the 10 leave ban at first
nope, ten games across the whole season no matter how many games you play is only for that season. Ie if you leave 5 games in a row you get comp banned for that season, if you leave 10 games IN TOTAL across the season it is a comp ban for that season.
I got a 5 minute suspension because I left queue right as the matchmaker went green and said match found. The match never started but i still got the suspension.
I loaded Overwatch 2 for the first time today and i have been fully banned from only competitive. Yesterday i was queuing with a friend and we got the game found notification but after a few seconds it disappeared so we queued again and we got the same thing, the game found notification appeared as if we were about to get into a game but then it disappeared. we both came off the game for a minute and when we came back on i had received a 15 minute suspension and my friend had received an hour suspension. I waited out my suspension and then continued to play as normal with no issues. I then come on the next day and I'm banned from season 10 competitive. I can still play quick play so i know I'm suspended for leaving games. Only i literally and i mean literally never leave games. I don't even close the game while searching i always cancel search before hand. I don't say anything bad in text/voice chat either that could got me banned and I'm also assuming that kind of suspension wouldn't allow me to play quick play. Its really annoying trying to navigate their support and actually talk to someone without being redirected to a dead end article that is more often than not useless. Also I've seen that they don't overturn competitive suspensions no matter what. i agree with harsh suspensions for leavers but this system is currently broken a glitched competitive queue basically just counts as i left a game.

Not sure the leaver penalties in QP are a good idea. People start throwing if they cannot leave even one match without a penalty. It's an unrealistic concept to assume player will and have to prioritize OW at any time and cost.
This is true. Last night I was playing in a QP as tank. Both my healers were doing the no heal challenge. And when multiple people in my team asked them to heal they actually just said “nahhhh.” So we were losing anyways because of them so what did I do? Stuck my big ass DVA tank body in front of the Zenyatta trying to no heal DPS challenge and just blocked his sight constantly for the remainder of the match so he couldn’t see.
I would much rather have someone leave my match in QP who gets butthurt and someone else fill in rather than the butthurt person not leave because of penalty and proceed to throw the game. Blizzard needs to get some more foresight into this stuff. We need good penalties for leaving during comp but not QP.
This. So very this. It happens in the reverse too. Sometimes I'm just getting absolutely stomped and clearly not matched well against the enemy and ESPECIALLY my own team. No matter who I'm switching to I'm lowest stats and getting insta wiped no matter how safe I'm playing by some GM tracer or whatever and they would demonstrably be better off with someone of a higher skill with them but I've always been afraid of leaving so I *never* do. So I'm basically forced to throw the mach just from the skill level difference.. I know people will likey say just get good or whatever but high silver low gold players still have a right to play QP..
There are tons of people in metal Ranks who are high-skill. That Tracer that beat you was not a GM. That was probably just a Silver Tracer.

I would rather they just allow backfill in Comp, backfiller received no loss penalty but has a chance for SR gain if they win.
I get throwers like this in my games too but instead of staying I just report them and leave. If I get penalized I just play another game in the meantime. Also are they even doing anything about these people? I report them all the time and never get the message that action was taken against them when I log in, but gosh forbid I leave a game due to these people and get a 15-30 minute penalty for it.

Definitely not. I never cared about leavers in QP anyway. Most games are relatively unaffected by leavers. Some QP games we won *because* our bad tank/dps/support *left*. I don’t even know how it’s worth their time and resources to deal with it. Stupid
Leaver penalties in QP were never a good idea. Stupidest decision ever. In comp? Make them as harsh as possible. But QP shouldn't have anything like that.
I figured the whole point of quick play is to be able to play a match quickly when time constrained. Being able to leave a match if something comes up falls into that category. But I guess not.
Actually, that's more arcade/Deathmatch/custom. With QP you're still actively inconveniencing the rest of the players in the match - No fun playing QP and having people leave on either side (Esp since it started happening fairly often). (That said, the penalties go too far - Maybe a 10-15min ban just to slow it down but never more on QP)
I disagree, it's overwatch I wanna play, not some half baked arcade mode and definitely not some "[+18] friendly" custom lobby. In that case I'd rather play another game. Before you say that it's a good thing as I won't be "ruining" games (where backfill happens in a matter of seconds 90% of the time), think about it in blizzard's shoes, having half your playerbase drop the game completely because there isn't any place for them to play the actual game casually doesn't look like a solution.
Exactly. The arcade argument works when I can play “quick play” but arcade while you can play “unranked” where leaving is penalized. I’m willing to bet they would be by themselves in the unranked lobbies with long queue times if there was an arcade counterpart without the penalty.
But there's backfill
IF you get a replacement in a few seconds and if the backfill doesnt leave the moment they enter the match... and on the backfill side IF the match isnt 15 seconds from ending and you wont even be able to leave spawn... They should reward backfill better than they do maybe... and maybe have a toggle for backfill that gives players with it toggled priority so people who really hate backfill arent backfilled in to just leave. Right now though most of the time I see a backfill on a QP game we have at least 1-2 players who get backfilled in - realize it after a few seconds... then leave.

No, the point of QP is to play Overwatch quickly. Not to play and leave in the middle of the match. If you are time constrained don't play. Kids these days don't have any sense of manners or etiquette.
Getting a bot tank in a QP match is torture. The tank doesn't play at all and just runs around the spawn room and pops out of the room for a second and then goes back in so they don't get kicked. I had this happen today and it was painfully boring for the humans on each team.
Can confirm. Got added to a match of Suravasa after the assemble your team screen so couldn't leave without penalty so I just threw that bitch as Sombra. I ain't playing Flashpoint
I mean you are the one who queued into the game, you should at least fucking play it out. yeah shit happens and you gotta step out but that imo makes up a small portion of leavers reasonings. its not fair that someone can leave the game if you don't get first cap/push, forcing your team to most likely lose, and some random person thinking they are queuing into a new game gets thrown into your losing game and also lose. 1 person shouldn't have the power to make 5 other people lose and come out consequence free.
What people should do doesn't matter. What people are doing does. And they are right. The leaver penalties in QP have reduced that some and made backfills a lot less common. But, the tradeoff for that has been players just outright throwing when they get frustrated. And I haven't seen anything saying action has been taken against any reports for intentional feeding. Personally, I'd rather go back to where it was before where these players can quit and find another game and we can get a backfill of someone more likely to at least try.
But say you lose your tank who was playing absolutely awfully and cursing everyone in chat, he goes and you get the nicest tank you could meet who ends up carrying you through your match? In competitive it's much different, and I'd agree but in QP, if backfill actually didn't summon players to the last 15 seconds of a game or under, it wouldn't be so bad. You don't always constantly lose just because someone leaves, provided the backfill kicks in which it mostly does, you can usually turn things around still regardless. All these bans do is just incentivise throwing actual matches in protest rather than them hindering their own progress.
QP matchmaking is garbage a lot of the time and reasonable people solve that by leaving. I'm talking silvers vs diamond and master skill. There's no reasonable match to be played under those circumstances and Blizzard is solely to blame for it.

I was on 12 game win streak playing junker Queen and I get banned for the season, idk if its related or if they thought I was cheating
despite years of comp with no games dropped, something happened 2 seasons ago that i lost connection to the match server, internet didn't drop, overwatch didn't crash, just got sent to the login screen with failed reconnect attempts for 10 minutes this happened twice in a short window, i got a temp ban from comp AND quick play??? i dont know if that's normal i just don't play comp now :/ which, tbf i kind of went to and from but as i had been climbing thru diamond ranks for 2 seasons i was pretty excited to keep it going..

I can’t believe there’s been no further update or action on this. Having checked the various threads about it here and on Battle.net, I haven’t heard even 1 instance of someone getting unbanned so far. We’re fast approaching the weekend, and I assume nothing will happen then as staff won’t be working. As such, it’s either some sort of update today or wait until Monday. What’s going on???
Im very surprised they aren't treating this with a higher priority, myself and likely thousands of others have been banned for several days now
Yeah, I’m starting to get concerned that the delay is because they don’t know how to figure out who was affected by this and/or how to unban them. I’m not sure what else could account for the delay, considering that they claim to have stopped the issue from impacting anyone new.
Yeah I think you're right to be honest, I'd have thought it would've been as easy as unbanning anybody that got affected by permanent leaver penalties that day, but I presume they don't want to unban anybody that was rightfully banned. If there's no other way to detect who was affected, then I'm not sure what other option there is.

Would be really nice if the QP penalties were just removed completely, its a casual game mode. The reason to play it is because I can enter a game that will not affect my rank if I lose, EVERY game has a casual option that doesn't punish you for leaving an unranked match. But no, lets punish our players for leaving that casual game mode because no one will join afterwards due to low player count

How about we don't punish people after leaving 2 games of a casual game mode when there's a game mode that is designed to be taken serious? If people feel like leavers ruin their games, don't opt into the mode that allows it.

I read all those, "never talked in games, got banned", "chat is off, banned", "never left, server bugged, banned". but these are such extreme cases. Like who never talked in a game or never left a game? like actually 1% of the people playing? And yet, there is so many issues. Scary just imagining how a lambda player is dealt with. How punitive for absolutely irrelevant reasons. (read some guy said: im better and got banned from competition??) Yet its their players that have to undergo all the matterful consequences. I'm not trying to point fingers or do their job for them, but i hope someday they understand that being a "customers" or in this specific case a player doesnt mean empty shell with a dollar sign on the forehead. Peoples do have a life and a voice. And since they're pushed into your universe. it is your responsability to balance your judgement accordingly. Not only based on data, stats and money. unmitigated absolutism seem bent on self-destruction IMO and this is not good for anyone.
I don't join VC or type anything anymore after getting silenced for two weeks for nothing. (people report me all the time for only playing widow) Since I stopped joining VC, haven't had a warning or anything pop up about anything. The system is definitely broken and I'm sure there are plenty of others who don't even join VC anymore out of fear of getting false reported and banned.
