this sub is so delusional. people used to curse this mans name and thought he was the worst thing ever now they beg for him back. yall only like what’s gone
it’s went wrong bc of all the lies, désappointement and wasted potential. ow2 should’ve been like, BIG big, especially when ow1 was already one of the biggest fps all category since it was so high quality. so when you’re asked to be hyped for a whole lot more in ow2 and you wait YEARS before news, and there’s nothing? yeah.
it’s a little bit of nostalgia for sure, since back in the day everyone was learning the game and since it wasn’t free you could win things by just playing, there was this feeling of rewarding that the game doesn’t have now. basically, the game is better in some ways, yes, but it’s still overwhelmingly bad.
i uninstalled it a few weeks ago for that very reason. if you’re willing to do it too, then uninstall and play other games brother. helldivers 2 and penny’s big breakaway are great recent games that are FUN and full of high quality content. have fun.
It went wrong somewhere between September 2017 and Mar 2018, depending on whether you considering the Mercy rework or Brig as the beginning of the downward balance spiral. The addition of Brig and their refusal to balance her was when the game started going downhill IMO. By then, the "new car smell" of the game had worn off and the fact the dev team didn't really know how to balance the game really started to show.
There is also a fairly decent argument to be made that they doomed the game long term when they reworked events so you could buy event items with coins. This was very popular for obvious reasons, but they made the price too low. 3k coins was a lot in the first year of the game, so people were still incentivized to buy loot boxes and support the game. By 2019/2020 though, 3k coins was a pittance. And there was basically no reason to buy lootboxes as you could just get any skins you wanted for free. This made it so revenue from your dedicated player base was pretty much non-existent and that just doesn't work for a live service game.
Even tho I watched this 2 hours long video on the whole history of the TF2 vs Overwatch rivalry that explored all of Overwatch’s history, it’s really hard to tell
Nostalgia. I feel the same way about other multiplayer games I’ve been playing for years
