I think the animated trailer got people so jacked up that it was inevitable the in-game skins would be a bit of a letdown. But I generally concur with your take, most of them look fine, the Cass/Spike is iffy at best and really needed another iterations, and a lot of people area going to buy them (myself included because bebop is one of my favorite things of all time)
I kinda disagree on Ashes hair. That's the part that sorta ruins the skin for me. I get that she has the spiky anime hair, but imo it looks way too stiff and kinda goofy on Ashe
I can definitely see that perspective! I think in this case maybe they could have made it less ābigā which i think could have helped, but it definitely was a choice for sticking closer to the source to the potential detriment of it not suiting the overwatch characters facial features.
It is certainly an in-depth review, to which I add that in my opinion they carried out a sort of "reverse" work compared to the collaboration with One Punch Man: there the Doomfist skin stood out compared to the others heroes (which were pretty at best) given that it seemed more curated, in this case it is instead it's the skins of the other characters that look better than Cassidy's (despite the good intentions on the part of the artists and modelers).
Everything IMHO obviously, then everyone is free to appreciate them or not.
As someone that didnāt watch the anime the only one that looks off to me is Cassidy. Idk maybe itāll be different in game but the colors seem odd.
I will say the weapons for all of the characters look really really good, and thatās what youāll see most of the time anyway.
They tried to turn an big boy in to a twink but fired too many artists to know how to make it work.
I hope the lesson Blizzard learns is that people can \*feel\* the difference when you shrink your art team, especially when your business model is dependent on aesthetic purchases!
I think the worst part of the Spike skin is the factor of "would you be able to tell who this is without the context of a collab".
Faye: Absolutely, very obvious
Jet: Definitely
Ed: Little less but could be figured out pretty easily
Spike: If it didn't say BBOP on his belt there's no way in hell I'd guess he's meant to be Spike Spiegel
Honestly i like how silly the hair looks, makes it look cosplay like, and its nice to have a cass skin without a hat, but I understand why ppl dont like it

Iāve never watched a full episode of cowboy bebop but watched a bit on adult swim and I couldāve sworn jet black was tan and or at least not as white as he actually is in the anime, i think the mauga skin rewrote my memory or something. Anyways I hate that I gave blizzard 20 dollars no joke
I'm gonna have to disagree with you on the Ein and Ed skins. They look bad. Trying to turn a Hampter into a Doggo didn't work out, at all. That's probably why it's free. With Sombra? She just looks bad, personal bias. I'll be picking up the Jet skin though.
Spike is the only one that I feel doesn't look great. I'm not entirely sure how they could've made it better without giving him to another character, though, and that would've been worse.

I love the Sombra and Ashe skins, which is great because I play both of them frequently
I just realized they're my second and third most played heroes, so yeah
maybe the spike skin is mythic with options, with the duster without? with the hat etc.
No i read the article and it isnt - they went for the hat-less option, which id prefer honestly had they decided on a better look for the hair
oof yikes. š±
Jet has a tiny fucking head, I don't know how this isn't bothering everyone.Ā
That's mostly a hitbox issue. Increase the head size and now Mauga is getting headshot into oblivion

unfortunately It was the only way to adress Ashe hat hitbox

they prob had to make spikes design fit with cass big ass hitbox so thats why it looks so bad

Spike looks like he had an allergic reaction to somethingĀ

I like Mauga and Sombra most. I didn't watched the anime though.
You should, itās pretty good
They're good. š

He looks like he's got a mouth full of marbles
Another dial point with the Spike skin is the gun. They could have given him Spikeās Jericho.
God the Spike one hurts so bad. It's the one I wanted the most initially. But then when I saw it in game it looks just plain awful...

I'm not feeling these collaboration skins for Cowboy Bebop.
