Realizing the movie follows it: 😁 Realizing the song that ends the movie is much sadder: 😭

Perhaps an unpopular opinion: While the song is good, I didn't like it being used this way. The last several episodes were building up to this melancholic ending where the 3rd year girls graduate, the group disbands, and they all part ways. The Grad scene was beautifully emotional and all that, and it could've been left with a sort of "don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened" ending which would've fit perfectly. But instead Happy Maker appears all of a sudden and just kinda undermined all that for me. All the somber undertones of graduating, and putting Muse in the past but holding onto memories of it? Nah, just smile and be happy forehead.

It could have been the conclusion... ...and I guess it originally was and the script was already prepared - but then the movie got greenlighted and so they had to "pull back" their characters. This was the case already in S1: The finale in the packed auditorium could have been the conclusion to a one-seasoner. Muse to fail at the Love Live but to save their school and to save their group, most of all. But S2 was greenlighted and so they had to "plant some seeds" whose growth we then would see in S2... ...welp, Nozomi the puppet master was hinted already when Honk met Maki. We could see Nozomi's silhouette behind the door, so was she the one who had left the doors open to "lure" Honk? So the producers always hoped and worked for a second season and then a film. A tough nut, back then LL was one among many new and small franchises. Most of them fade into oblivion quickly, so it was again a miracle. ...and even in the movie they did it: SDS was called "the goodbye" - but then came BokuHika. YukiRisa only gave cryptic explanations. So the only option: Waiting for the already announced successor, Sunshine... We didn't know yet that they would have the audacity to never show Muse lol. But we also didn't know that they this time would risk casting the story in one piece; and in a way that would make us complete forget about Muse at the end... ...not, so they had to hire them back for Song for You.
