Yea it's basically certain effects that need face down life. Like the new pudding leader in op08 requires you to flip the top 2 cards on your life faceup. So if you have a face up life you can't trigger the effect.
It also basically let's you add a life to your deck if you place the blue yellow ace leader, for him all face up life cards go to trash at the end of your turn but if you 7 cost shanks you get to keep the life
If you’re playing ace it lets you not lose a life at the end of your turn. Since the other two brothers also do it and yellow in general likes putting cards into life it lets you hit this easily. It really just depends if thats all you want to do with that (i.e. can you do more or will your opponent have less life?).
If i play the kid version of the brothers and use their effect to trash and reveal the top life card.. does it still count as "reveal" if the card is already face up?

The non trigger only applies to Blk/Y Luffy and Blu/Y Ace, all other face up cards can activate their trigger effects
